"After having some major hiccups with another carpet company my wife and I decided to cancel to look into Molyneaux for our carpeting needs. We went to the store in Robinson, met Lisa Clouse, and started looking at samples and discussing our needs. We set up an appointment for Lisa to come to our house a few days later to measure and look at samples. She arrived as scheduled and measured our house and talked us through picking the right carpet and color for our home and situation (we have a dog that sheds a lot!). Lisa was in our home for almost 3 hours trying to help us decide on a color and carpet type. She never made us feel rushed and never ever tried to up sell us or use any high pressure sales tactics to get us to buy. She was friendly and offered professional view points and opinions when needed. I feel we were lucky to have Lisa as our design consultant. We agreed to a carpet and color and from there scheduled an appointment for installation. The appointment was for two days due to the size of the job, which was this past Thursday. That morning, I was called at 7:45am letting me know the installers were about 30 minutes away. Two men, Rob and Shawn arrived at 8:15am, quickly confirmed the measurements Lisa took and began working. They were extremely personable and I had no negative feeling about the installers what so ever. They even took the time to explain certain things about installing carpet that I had asked. Overall they were wonderful. They finished installing 1,500 square feet of carpet by 4:30pm that afternoon and saved me from taking a second day off work which I was very thankful for. The carpet looks great! The overall experience with Molyneaux could not have gone any better in my opinion. We will definitely use them again in the future for any other flooring projects we need!"

"Justin was a great resource to talk about options for installation, pros and cons for each and really went above and beyond. As he was installing the ‘grain’ of the carpet went a different way between the hallway and the bedrooms. He noticed it as he was checking his work and just pulled it out and redid it so everything would match exactly. Great work ethic, pride in craftsmanship and attention to detail. He is fantastic and will use him on other projects."

"The grout between the kitchen tiles started breaking and cracking fairly quickly in multiple areas. The area between the kitchen and dining room, tile versus wood floor, had a small piece of wood that provided a rounded edge as the kitchen floor was now higher than the dining room. This nails began to come out of this piece of wood and snag sock and foot within a month. The wood coming loose may have contributed to the cracks in the tile's grout. The painter took a month to paint a 1000 square foot home. The faucet was installed improperly. The water valves for the kitchen faucet had the washers forced in to the pipes. I visually confirmed this as the plumber I had hired had to determine why I had lost water on the second and first floor spontaneously. In his opinion someone may have tightened the valves so tightly that the washers were position to eventually come loose and block the flow of water. This was an expensive lesson. Depending on the project AB is fine. Like most contractors he has multiple sites at any given time, taking the more skilled labor to the more important jobs. The end results was low quality work that requires additional expenditures to rectify. That money would have been better spent hiring higher skilled labor."

"Juan and Gabrielle did an amazing job removing our old tile from our house. They finished the whole job in two days. They were very efficient and knew what they were doing. They removed approximately 650 square feet tile from our floors. They also moved washer, dryer and removed toilet/faucet to do underneath. My husband and I am very satisfied with the job they have done and we def recommend Pineda to anybody in need of floor work. We would probably hire them again for our upstairs floors."

"In May 2014 we scheduled a sales associate with Steel City
Flooring to come to our home for an in home consultation. He showed up on time,
was very pleasant, easy to work with and did not try to up sell us on anything.
Our request was for approximately 400 square foot of laminate floor and 25
square foot of ceramic tile. The gentleman was on site for about 30 minutes and
gave us a quote for the services and said the total installation would take 1-2
days. We were not yet ready to commit to this and said we needed to think this
over some more. We waited 4 days and then decided to stop in the West Mifflin
store to purchase the flooring and installation. When we arrived, we asked for
the sales associate we had come to our house. We were informed he no longer was
with the company; however the sales associate that was present was happy to
assist us. He had the paperwork from our consultation and we said we were going
ahead with that quote. He said he would look it over and be right with us. A
few minutes passed, and he informed me that the quote was wrong. Some items
were left out, calculated incorrectly, and the free carpet lift (as promised) was
not included with laminate flooring. This amounted to an additional $800 that
would need added to the cost and it would take 2-3 days for the installation (1
more day than originally promised ? No big deal). He did say he would work with
us and we could split the difference at $400. We decided to still go with Steel
City Flooring even with the adjusted pricing.
About 2 weeks passed and I received a phone call that the
items we purchased (Paid in full) were at the store and they wanted to schedule
delivery. I immediately said that I had a truck and would be driving by the
store and could save them a trip. They seemed appreciative and I stopped by,
loaded the materials myself and delivered to my house. The installation was
scheduled for 2 weeks later. I called Friday before the installation date to
confirm, and I seemed to catch them off guard, but I thought maybe I was wrong.
Sure enough, on the installation day (June 3, 2014), a sub-contractor arrived
at my house. He told me he didn?t know about the job until 1 day prior and the
company begged him to accept the job. He was on site at my house until June 11
(a total of 5 days because of the weekend and he took a day off). After the 5th
day, he realized there was not enough laminate flooring to finish my hallway
(approximately 15 square foot needed). He called the store and they agreed to
order it and would schedule with me to get the job finished. The sub-contractor
packed his tools and was gone.
I called Steel City a few times to keep reminding them the
job needed finished, and finally we were able to schedule to get this complete,
I had to stay on top of them to get this scheduled. Their installer Ken arrived
on time and completed the job promptly and professionally, no complaints about
the installer.
In July 2014, I called to inform Steel City that my floor
was buckling up in my dining room ? Part of the original installation. They
said they would file a claim. A few days later, I received confirmation that
the claim was filed and we scheduled them to come out to fix the issue. Due to
some confusion or paperwork mix up, my repair did not occur and I was told it
would be rescheduled. On October 1, 2014, I stopped in the West Mifflin store
to find out the status of rescheduling this repair since I had not heard from
them, and had been unsuccessful getting ahold of anyone by phone. The sales
associate at the store was nice, and more than happy to help. He apologized for
the company not getting back to me, and they scheduled the installer for the
next day. October 2, 2014, Ken arrived and corrected the installation that the
sub-contractor had completed. He was efficient, polite, and great to work with.
In summary, we purchased our flooring from Steel City
because we liked their products and their prices seemed reasonable and fair. We
worked with the company from the start ? With the incorrect original bid and
even delivering the materials ourselves. We were satisfied with our floors but
the installation was a longer than desired process. We originally were told 2-3
days and it ended up being 6 days spanning 3 weeks, so for that extended time
our home looked like a construction site. The company sells decent products at
reasonable prices, everyone I dealt with face to face was polite and courteous
however; it seems that something is lacking organizationally. I had to
repeatedly call the company to check on the status of completing my
installation and then settling a claim and eventually stop in the store in
person. I believe this was more work for me than I should have expected.
We are now not even 2 years from the installation and are
looking to replace the flooring. It did not last as was promised at the time of
the sale. The flooring seems to be low quality.

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in Eighty Four, PA

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
