"We recently had our roof replaced, and I want to wholeheartedly recommend Lake Point Roofing as a company you should consider for any future roofing projects. I first met Derek Wojcik, a partner in the company, when I asked him to come to my home to review a leak that I noticed in my second floor bedroom. After inspecting my roof, he told me that he had found the source of the leak and would fix it on the spot. After repairing the leak, I thanked him and asked him what I owed him. His response was "no charge". He's also made a couple of other minor tweaks with my gutters without charge. Derek quoted me a price to replace my roof in November 2016. When I decided to replace the roof this year, he told me that he would maintain the same price quoted last year. His team arrived at my home at approximately 7:30 and went right to work, tearing off the existing shingles and replacing them. They also lined my built-in gutters with modified Bitumen, and installed steel angle iron on all the gutters to prevent overflow. Upon completion, they meticulously cleaned up to the point that you wouldn't know that any work had been done. In all my dealings with Derek he has proven to be meticulous in detail, extremely hard working, does what he says he's going to do, and manages a crew of top notch roofers. I don't think we'll have need of Lake Point Roofing's services to replace a roof again, but I would certainly use them again."

"We had CAPA install a new roof on our home. Every step of the process went exceptionally well and smoothly. Tom responded quickly and in detail to any queries. The installation crew was phenomenal. They worked very hard under extreme heat and humidity, and they finished ahead of schedule. Most amazing, they left the job site spotless and without damaged, including the shrubbery that surrounds our house. We could not have been happier with any aspect of the job."

"Tore off roof, didn't protect tomato garden and tomato cages and tomatoes. Tar marks on siding and tore a screen. Was compensated for screen. Cleanup was not satisfactory and they sent a guy back when done to rectify. All these things I could deal with. <br /> The issue I have is that after tearoff the wood siding that was exposed was obviously rotten. Siding was also bad on dormer valleys. When roof was torn off some of the trim that was bad fell off. Not their fault, it was bad and needed replacement. My issue is that I wasn't notified or told of this. I found out the next big rain when dormers leaked into house. I realize they weren't hired to repair dormers. It's a two story home and something I couldn't initially identify from ground. I would liked to have thought someone would have brought this to my attention. The Dormer valleys are leaking, and today I have a different outfit coming to repair as well as repair siding. Pretty much everywhere siding meets roofline is being repaired. <br /> The house didnt leak before the tearoff, granted the wood was rotten and needed to be replaced.  They never told me anything about this trim that was falling off or that i needed it replaced.  There only concern was shingling the roof. As for them calling themselves Preferred Roofing and Exteriors?  I guess that's misleading because they don't do anything other than roofs.. <br /> Finally the dormers all have metal roofs.  They were in bad shape and the roofer said he didn't repair these. So I hired another crew to come and fix what should have been done in the first place. <br />"

"I had the roof on my house replaced 21 years ago by Norm and his brother Roy. So, when I discovered I had a roof leak this year I called my insurance agent for possible hail damage. After getting an inspection it was determined that my roof was pretty well worn out and should be replaced and was not hail damaged. The estimate I was given seemed a bit high and left out various items including the permit fees which I would have to pay extra for. Remembering Thompson roofing and the quality work I had received before I decided to give them a call. Norm came out and did the inspection and gave me a price that included everything and was well below what I was quoted by my Insurance agents recommended roofer. The shingles were a very good match to my garage (which is in good shape) and the work was done on time and in one day (tear off too). The cleanup was good and everything went very smoothly. The inspection by the township was completed the next day and all was done. I would not hesitate to call Thompson (Norm) roofing for any repair or replacement needed in the future. I recommend that if you need roof work, it’s worth your time to give them a call. I don’t think you will regret it. Chuck P. Hoffman Estates"

"Josh, the owner of Lifetime Xteriors, and his crew were very professional and very prompt. I had some repairs that I needed done and not only were these problems fixed but also others that I did not know about. I would hugely recommend this company to anyone that needs a new roof or needs any kind of repair work. Going forward if I ever need any other work done to my roof, this company will definitely be the first call I make."

"We couldn?t be more pleased with the work done on our roof by JE Roofing. From start to finish everything was professionally handled. When Jeff came out to give us an estimate, we were also given at that time a copy of their business license and certificate of liability insurance. We had gotten a number of estimates, even one from an in town roofing company and a couple of them had told us that we also needed to replace the entire cedar shingle dormer on one side of our house. Most of the bids were in the same ballpark give a few hundred dollars, but one of the main deciding factor for us to pick JE Roofing was their honesty. John, the owner who had come out to the house had told us we really didn?t need the complete dormer shingled, just some of it needed to be replace. the same around the rest of the sides of the house. He explained it was easier to just redo it, then to just replace the rotten or missing cedar shingles. Now, he could have told me what others were and made more money off of us, be he didn?t and that spoke volumes. It was an easy decision to pick JE Roofing. <br /> First off our house is a large colonial style house with three roofs to it. They did an outstanding job on completely tearing off our roof. The previous roof had, this ugly grey tar line around the entire house. John and his team fixed that and the roof just blends into the house now, no more unsightly tar line. They also replaced only what cedar shingles on the house that needed to be replaced and stained them. We had a bundle of these shingles from years ago, and they used ours and our stain. They didn?t try and pad the bill by saying they needed more. Actually, we got a discount on our bill because we provided the cedar shingles. This company is VERY honest. The quality of their work was outstanding.  They also stand behind their work with a 7 year guarantee. They do not use sub-contractors, everyone on the job works directly for the company. They cleaned up each day after they finished. We highly recommend this company, as a matter of fact I had a friend who only had one estimate from another company and I told her she HAD to call John and she did and is now going with him after getting a much better estimate and hearing how pleased we are. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Elburn, IL

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
