"I would highly recommend Aluminum Company of NC. Several years ago, we had a large window replaced over the front door entry way. This year we noticed the window was smokey, called them up and sent a photo, window replaced no questions! They stand behind their lifetime warranty! After such great customer service, we just had all 19 windows replaced in our house. I would rate their customer service and installation team a 10! Showed up on time every day, cleaned away debris, and provided instructions on cleaning and care. Aluminum Company of NC thank you for great service. We love your new windows! R. Mangum"

"Excellent responsiveness and work. In December 2011 I had a new roof put on my 112-year old home by another (NOT Winters Roofing) company. It started leaking around the chimney almost immediately. I had the roofer return several times to fix the problem but they could never get it to stop leaking. After a considerable amount of research I found Winters Roofing. Dale, the owner, explained his flashing process, using copper with soldered seams on the cap and base flashing with the tops of the cap flashing embedded into the chimney's mortar and properly spaced step flashing. Dale accomidated my schedule and completd the work quickly. The roof has not leaked a drop since and the copper looks great on the chimney. I will use Winters Roofing for any future roofing I need completed. <br />"

"Excellent. Metalworks completed the job as scheduled and were very efficient, professional, and orderly while doing it! Our roof looks spectacular and there was absolutely no mess when they left. Dave came by during both days of the roof install to check with us and see if everything was satisfactory. His crew was very polite and hard-working. The roof and the flashing look well done and they used only the highest quality products. I am very happy with the work and would definitely use them again. <br />"

"Everything went very smooth from start to finish. They installed our roof in one day and installed the gutters the very next day. Their drywaller came out the next week and repaired the drywall and painted the entire kitchen which I was expecting just a patch. You can't even tell where the leak was at. I'm sooo happy with my new roof, gutters and my kitchen even feels new again. Everything looks GREAT! <br />"

"I can’t say enough good things about this company. I contacted them after they left a note on my door suggesting I might have storm damage to my roof. After their initial inspection (at no cost to me) they concluded there was damage and THEY contacted my insurance company. The insurance adjuster sent in the claim, and I was approved. Shortly after that we scheduled the job. There men were prompt, courteous, did a first rate job and cleaned up afterward. I would highly recommend them!"

"Mike and his partner were EXTREMELY prompt, both in communication and in coming out to repair a leak in our roof after Hurricane Florence. Most companies wouldn't even call me back to come out and quote us while Mike called me (on his day off no less) and was out within a few hours because he was fairly close to our neighborhood. The work was done properly and he was very thorough in explaining what he found and the type of repair that was done. Beyond that, he was very honest and knowledgeable. This is the type of person you want performing repairs on your home. He was able to point out some areas on our roof where the originally installers did a poor job so that we could keep our eyes on it for the future. I would absolutely invite Mike out for further repairs or if we needed our roof replaced altogether. Thank you so much man! We really appreciate you!"

"It was okay. The roof looks nice. No always very responsive once roof is up and the workers put nails in my drainpipes and clogged drain. Also, they didnot tell me to have my satilite company out there to help them. I was very unhappy about that"

"David Francis showed up on time in his bright Cobalt blue truck, pulled out his telescoping ladder and walked about the roof. He inspected the roof all over, caulked a few spots, and flattened a vent boot corner that had curled up in a recent storm.  He came inside to look at the water stain, and explained that it was probably from a torrent of water going down the roof valley a couple of feet away with some small amount driven under the shingles by the wind. (This makes sense to me because the stain appeared after a harsh storm with unusual easterly winds on Oct 10-11, while no further water damage appeared after major storms the following week with westerly winds.) <br /> He was happy to explain what he was looking for in terms of roof condition and construction methods, and what makes for a good roofing job. He would have recommended painters to deal with the water stain had I asked him. <br /> I was happy with his prompt response in scheduling the inspection, and his punctuality and professionalism.  I didn't rate the price because it was an Angie's List Big Deal, nor the quality because the repairs were so minor. It was well worth the $49 for peace of mind. <br />"

"Great overall experience using Call Mr. Fixit. Dennis is professional, courteous and knowledgeable in addition to doing great work. We had several pieces of vinyl siding warped from BBQ grill heat. We also had a mailbox that had started to tilt which we asked him to reinforce. He came out and did the estimate the day after we messaged him on Angie's List. The estimate was reasonable for the work and he explained everything that was included in the cost. The mailbox was relatively simple in that he poured concrete at the base; the mailbox is now secure and does not move as it did before (due to the soft ground). The vinyl siding repair was very professional. Unfortunately, the company that made our siding 8 years ago was now out of business. Dennis and his crew searched through several stores before coming up with a close match. As the repair was in a very visible area and the vinyl was not an exact match, Dennis and crew pulled existing siding from an inconspicuous part of the house and put the new siding there before replacing the warped siding. The work looks great, the crew was professional and the price was very reasonable. Would recommend to anyone needing general repair/construction services."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Elizabethtown, NC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
