"We love outside holiday lights, but we are seniors and donâ t do ladders anymore. Matt provided an estimate which included putting up, taking down, and storing until next year. It also included the lighting materials. Ours were too old. The up/down was done per the schedule provided. The whole process was slick, very professional. What a relief to know that it will be taken care of!"

"I was out of town when the job was scheduled and I'm happy to report that it went very well. They arrived early in the morning and were done within a few hours time. I was especially pleased with the clean up job (of the pine needles) on my roof and gutters and around the area where the tree(s) was removed and/or pruned. Should I need work done again, I would hire."

"I expected the cleaning technique would be the truck-mounted negative-air vacuum process. However, Aegis uses the point of contact method, removing vent covers and inserting the vacuum. The tech was very friendly. We did a walk through to view the number of air ducts to be cleaned and to be certain all necessary furniture and items were moved to allow clear access. He cleaned all of the air vents, the furnace and the dryer vent. There was a considerable amount of debris in the air vents as we bought the house new, and the vents hadn't been cleaned to remove dirt and debris from construction. My only complaint was that the tech said we didn't need to move a chest in the hallway above which the air exchange was located. He did move it later without my knowledge or help, and explained afterwards that one of the legs of the chest broke as he re-positioned the chest.

"We selected Portland Electric to add a 240V circuit for a new hot tub. After inspecting our electrical service and panel, it was determined that to add the circuit the panel needed to be upgraded to comply with current electical code. None of the other bidders even bothered to mention this. I found this single thing the deciding of which contractor to select. The work went smoothly. Mark is a true professional. He was there every time he committed to. He was on time, very concerned about impacting our living space, did a great job on the panel replacement, even did sheetrock repair after the new panel was in."

"Guys were always on time or communicated that they were running a few minutes behind (which is more exception than rule). Nick and Bob, one of the PJ's crews, is excellent with amazing attention to detail, personable and polite.. Everything was done on time and as requested and came out looking great. Nick took extra time to be sure some flooring that had to be replaced was done with artistic precision with some extra flooring I had saved (an island was removed from the kitchen). It is pretty rare to feel like company and crew really care about the job, and pay attention to clean everything to restore the original condition they found it in. I am very happy with the outcome of this job and even a little amazed that Phillip took the concept as stated all the way through to completion as I had requested and described. Great job!"

FAQs for holiday lighting add or remove projects in Estacada, OR

If climbing ladders or handling wiring isn’t in your comfort zone, hire a pro. Look for installers who post clear per-foot or hourly rates, carry insurance, and have solid reviews. Comparing at least three quotes helps you spot fair pricing without sacrificing safety. Skipping credentials to save a few dollars can cost you far more in repairs, so pick a qualified team and enjoy a safe, eye-catching display.

Yes, booking between February and September often scores lower rates because demand is light and pros have open calendars. You might even negotiate a discount package that includes removal or storage. If the budget is tight, ask whether a handyperson or an off-season permanent-light install makes sense for your home and timeline.

Determining the number of holiday lights for your house depends on your home’s size and specific decorative vision. Your project requires 10 to 20 light strands for a basic exterior display, with 100 lights allocated for eaves and an additional 10 to 20 bulbs for each awning.

For trees and substantial shrubs, allocate five to 10 strands per unit to achieve complete and balanced illumination across your property.

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s a nice way to thank your installer for a job well done. Most homeowners offer 10% to 20% of the total bill or round up to an even figure if the crew exceeds expectations. A small extra goes a long way toward showing appreciation—and may help you snag priority booking next season.

Yes, you can install holiday lights yourself if your property layout is straightforward and your electrical system is secure. Homeowners who are confident in their ability to safely handle wiring and use proper equipment can save money with a DIY approach.

However, it is crucial to test all outlets thoroughly and secure the proper ladders and safety gear before starting. Careful planning and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect yourself and your home while achieving an attractive display.

Start by clearing the area of loose debris, damaged shingles, and anything that could trip you up. Test outdoor outlets and, if you’re unsure, bring in an electrician. Use a sturdy extension ladder (or scaffolding for very high spots) and never work alone—having a helper steady the ladder is non-negotiable. Taking these simple steps keeps you, your roof, and your new lights safe.
