"We worked with Roman Roofing in 2019 when they installed a new metal roof on our house on Fort Myers Beach, Florida. They were excellent to work with, very attentive and helpful, and we were extremely satisfied with the final results and the fair price. A large project like that has its challenges, but they worked hard to meet them to our satisfaction. I would not hesitate to hire them again or recommend them to others."

"They were responsive to my request for a quote, provided a quote for an optional replacement I asked about, and the prices were very reasonable. There was a slight delay in providing the service but those happen. A crew of 3 performed the cleaning and repairs, they were on-time, were professional, did a good job, and cleaned-up afterwards. Thanks Guys! I’ll definitely use them again in the future!"

"He worked so hard to make sure that we were taken care of by the insurance company and that everything that needed replaced was done so. He also made sure that the roofing company got to us right away and they did an excellent job as well!"

"They worked on our roof during the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, they were able to get a new roof put on while everyone was busy and tied up. They even came back to fix anything and would fix other things I didn't know about. I would recommend them to anyone."

"Excellent. They were pleasant, professional, and fit me in as soon as they could due to rain storms and fear of water damage. Workers came on time as stated and worked quickly and professionally. Mr. and Mrs. Poole take their work seriously and to heart which is not often the case anymore. Additionally, when we thought the leak was back they "squeezed us" in two time to ensure all was well. I highly recommend them and only wish they did full roof replacement because I trust them!"

"Great. I'm 68 years old and have owned 4 homes so I have worked with numerous roofing and gutter companies...Durabilis Roofing is by far our best experience. Victor the owner came out to our home did measurements and made some great recommendations. He wrote up the job along with timing and how many crew members would be here for tear down and installation. Just like clock work everyone showed up on time and did a great cleanup job - very organized work crews..My wife and I highly recommend this very professional roofing company. Money well spent and we highly recommend"

"Roofing Solutions Unlimited contacted me on Saturday morning and came out to my house that same afternoon to evaluate my needed roof repairs. Both Nick and Brennan inspected my roof and gave me a ballpark estimate for the repairs and that evening emailed me a written estimate that was almost the same as their on-sight ballpark estimate. It was more than fair and reasonable. We scheduled the repairs for the following Tuesday at noon and they both showed up exactly at noon. It took them about an hour to complete the repairs and I was more than satisfied with the high quality of their work. They re-fastened some roof tiles that had slid out of place, identified some additional cracked tiles that they repaired, and fixed and painted a damaged air vent. Upon completion Brennan emailed me a copy of the paid in full invoice with photos showing the before and after of the repairs made. I couldn't have been more satisfied and would wholeheartedly recommend Roofing Solutions Unlimited for any small or large roofing project. They are a responsive and responsible small business doing quality work at a fair and reasonable price. Hire them!"

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Estero, FL

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
