"My carport collapsed from very wet, heavy snow. Even though it was a very busy time for him, Matt Hunter came up with a week of when I contacted him. The final cost of the job was less than his estimate and the new carport is much sturdier and better looking than the previous one. He also installed two handrails for the staircase inside my house and a grab bar in my shower. The cost was more than fair and the quality of the finished work was great. I would highly recommend Matt for any construction project."
This large unfinished attic needed extensive framing in order for drywall to be applied to the ceilings and walls
This is another photo prior to adding framing for drywall.
This photo shows the same view with the framing added to accept drywall.
The short rafters were not holding their weight, causing the roof to dip 8 inches below level in some places.
First we lifted the rafters to level with each other, and added under-eave support and facia to keep them there.

"INITIAL CONTACT The company was quick to respond to our inquiry and set up time for a consultation. What we thought was a consult to receive a bid became a high pressure sales pitch. And our down payment to secure the quote for the job was actually a binding contract for the FULL scope of the project with significant penalties for cancelling (read the contract fine print!). A cancellation window of three days to release liability for the FULL AMOUNT OF THE PROJECT was a big surprise as we read through all the paperwork the days following. We have learned a hard lesson not to sign anything after 9pm, we were both so tired and hungry at that late hour we did not thoroughly read through all the paperwork. Our mistake. We obviously ended up moving forward with the project and got more comfortable after reading through reviews of the quality of the work and the experience customers had once they got past the “sales” call. Most were very positive. We also found that no other company offered the length of warranty that System Pavers does and with the large and challenging area, sloped terrain with drainage challenges and more than 5K sq ft, we felt comfortable that this was the right company to do the work. CONCEPTUAL DESIGN AND RENDERING Overall, the software was helpful in deciding the layout and the borders of the pavers. But we still had a hard time selecting the type of stone with the generic 3D rendering. We had to trust our instincts with the pictures in the catalogues provided to decide what to order. Once we decided on the Mega Lafite and Mega Arbel stones from Belgard, Jeff worked very hard with the vendor to get the color we wanted (as the Victorian shade had been discontinued) at the price we needed to fit our budget. We certainly appreciated this extra effort with the vendor. QUALITY OF WORK We read many reviews relative to the installation and quality of work. There was one team, led by Moises Ponce, that had received nothing but positive reviews. We were grateful that Jeff and the management team at System Pavers reworked the summer schedule so that Moises and his crew were able to take on our project. His team did outstanding work, they were always professional, and cleaned up after themselves. The installation of the pavers and the edging was seamless and the final product has more than met our expectations, it is really beautiful. We get many compliments on our new driveway and front yard and know that we enhanced the value of our home substantially. The team had to address some drainage challenges in front of our house and shop and the choice of permeable pavers so far seems to be functioning well through the first set of rainfall and falling leaves. The only challenges we had with the installation process involved two areas. The first had to do with communication between the Designer, the Project Manager and the Installation crew doing the work. There were times they were not on the same page and luckily one of us was home when most of the work was completed and could monitor the install. The second had to do with the landscaping/grass once the stones were completed. We had to move a portion of our in-ground sprinkler system prior to the new sod being installed. The day the ground was prepped for the sod, several of the sprinkler heads were completely buried and one was even on its side, covered with mulch. Had we not been on site and pointed this out, there could have been significant rework to correct after the sod had been installed. OVERALL We are very satisfied with the work and the end result. The cost for the work may be more than the value added to our home but there were other factors/benefits we considered in the choice of stone we selected and the overall design that increased the price beyond our original budget. It has transformed our front entrance and our front yard into our own private retreat and we no longer have to deal with the dust tracked into our home from our previous gravel driveway."

"Went very well. They worked with me on setting the schedule, then finished when they said they would. Provided excellent plant materials, and did a great job on a challenging site—hilly and rocky old quarry! Shout out to Dean (irrigation), Dustin and Ryan. And thanks for pointing out that bear scat in the yard!!"

"We had 50 Italian Cypress trees planted by Rexius in late 2021. Instead of digging into the native soil, Rexius laid a berm of fresh dirt and planted the trees in the dirt berm. they left the top 1/3 of the rootballs above the surface of the dirt. when we questioned about so much of the rootball not being in the ground, they said that Italian cypress grow best this way. however, because they didn't dig into the native soil, the berm has no lateral support/pressure to securely hold the roots, so here we are over 3 years later, and the Italian cypress will not stay up strait on their own. they get blown over by the wind. I attempted to take the support posts off earlier this year (2.5 years after planting) and they all started to lean with the wind. i have spent an enormous amount of time trying to make the trees stand up strait on their own, but I'm convinced that because Rexius didn't prep the ground right and give the trees a proper supportive base for the roots to spread out, I don't know if they will ever be able to support themselves. when I asked Rexius to fix the issue, they were going to charge me ove me $5k to add some dirt! so frustrating!!! last time I will ever use Rexius."

"Just purchased a new home that had an irrigation system placed by Birch's. The irrigation was "off" and "winterized" due to the time of year we purchased the house, therefore, it had never been used. My wife contacted the company regarding how to turn the system on, they stated they would come out, turn on the system, run it, and show us how to use it. There was NO MENTION of any charge until after the service. We were invoiced for$180.00 for about an hour of time spent, mainly which was just talking. My wife contacted the owner, no concessions were made. I paid the bill and attached a letter expressing my disappointment and that we would not be using their service. The owner sent a letter back saying "good luck" to get anyone to perform any "free services" from his competitors in the future. We NEVER asked for free service AND it was never ever communicated to us regarding his price. My wife and I were taken advantage of, we provided an opportunity to have the business rectify the situation, and received a smart *** response. Would NOT recommend this poor customer service company EVER! We handed these idiots a softball regarding an opportunity to make things right and they chose to become defensive and condescending."

"I had big plans for my back yard and initially thought I could do most of the work myself, despite not being a fan of yard work. I wanted a new patio with walkway around the house, to remove most of my lawn and replace it with other plantings, and eventually get a cover for my deck. Well, after a couple years of chipping away at it, and then a pandemic, I decided it was finally time to just hire professionals. In May I met with Phil from GrassRoots to go over my current yard and my vision of what I was looking to do, he offered many great suggestions (including using stamped concrete instead of paver stones for the patio and path). We went back and forth over the design details, taking our time to get things right (after all, I was in no hurry). He let me know that the work would be done in phases, each time squeezing between their other jobs. He hands me off to Tim who oversaw the work. Starting in mid-October the demo team cleared out the existing lawn to prep in the first day. A week later the team came out and spent two days laying the gravel base and installing the retaining walls for the concrete pour. Two weeks later the concrete team poured and stamped the concrete, and then removed the retaining walls a couple days after that. At that point the softscape team showed up and blew in the dirt, installed the new sod, and got really excited showing me the plantings they picked out as they placed them in their pots around the yard to get my okay with where they had arranged everything. A few days later the carpenters showed up to install the new deck cover, which looks absolutely stunning! After the first rain, I noticed that the runoff from the deck cover was splattering the fresh bark they had installed, so they came out and added some decorative gravel there to catch the rain. All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I'm so glad I finally decided to go with the professionals on this project. I'm looking forward to the spring when everything starts to grow, and in a few years when the bushes fill in."

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Eugene, OR

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
