"Brett has replaced the attic stairs and new door to attic, installed banister, installed shower bar, installed all new blinds in home, shelving units in basement, custom dining room cabinet install, and has put together projects in our home. I started with one thing and was highly impressed of the quality of his work and the price of the estimates and Brett gives good sound advice and will accommodate to our schedule. You can fully trust Brett in your home when completing projects and Brett will explain the needs of your project and has contacts that he trusts for good quality of the products needed. I am looking forward to a basement remodeling and deck work. I continue to call him and does a great cleanup and you will be completely satisfied. Brett will fully explain all details. Highest satisfied review for our family needs."

"We hired Mike in 2020 right before our daughter was born. We needed and wanted a special addition in our bedroom, My wife and I dreamed of a big shower and a special place to wine down after our 12 hour days (both in the medical field). We saw mikes ad somewhere online and decided to call him, when we told him our idea he was very optimistic and was sure he can work something out for us ( he's a jack of all trades). Everything started out smooth we immediately wrote him a check for the deposit to start working Mike showed up first week. slowly started coming less, once twice three times a week. He expressed to us that he Doesn't work Fridays. We specifically expressed wanting a big 5x5 shower that we dreamed of always wanted, drew us up a plan for a smaller one. We wanted to pick out a nice vanity, Mike had other plans in mind. Wanted a pocket door, Mike tells us we cant it wont work, his partner disagrees and explains to him how it will work. At this point My wife and I can tell Mikes not a fan us lol , but honestly we don't really care since we're the customer and we've paid him, this is the line of work he chooses, we pay his bills, not the other way around. Instead of trenching the floor he decides to put in a "Sani flow" which he is adamant that he has installed plenty of times and feels confident with this being the best option. Mike does not install the Sani flow correctly, as the discharge pipe was not secured properly resulting in a major mess . the out come? Raw sewage and water spraying all out from behind our toilet , we lucky heard a noise and decided to call a plumber, when he opened up the crawl space Michael installed ( which we had to make bigger because it was to small to even reach your arm into the access the Sani flow" we see the worst outcome, water, sewage. The plumber we hired was adamant that whoever installed this Sani flow did not secure the clamp to the discharge pipe correctly and also cut it too short , resulting in water and pressure and raw sewage to spray out slowly over time ( because of the build up inside of the Sani flow). The macerater was clean, no obstruction. the Sani flow was working properly, it was the installation. When we texted Mike about this, he responded with short careless responses to my wife, of course he wouldn't come check it out, its a Saturday night he cant be bothered. Just sit and imagine this for a second, all this is happening in your bathroom, now your shower your sink and toilet are out of service and you text the guy who you had install it and he doesn't text back and when he does its short and with no care of the situation? He did say he would sell us a new Sani flow for $500. Hire yourself someone that will stand by their work, and if there is an issue, be a man and show up and correct his errors. Not some young guy driving a 60 thousand dollar work truck that works three days a week, and does not want to do what the customer wants, but what's gonna make him the most money by doing the least work and not only that but the job and work is done incorrectly."

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Fairport, NY

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
