"Mark arrived promptly for a bid to fill in a hole where a pond previously existed and complete with patio pavers and then powerwash, sand and compact.  I could tell by listening to Mark that he was very knowledgeable about his trade and immediately guided me in how he would go about completing the project.  Based on my situation, he outlined right away that even if he did not get the job to ensure certain things were not done by other providers.  I could tell in comparison to speaking with two other providers that Mark knew exactly what he was doing.  Mark's bid came in between the other two providers, but based on my interactions with Mark he was the guy.  I called Mark and he got me on the calendar four weeks out.  Arrived promptly the day outlined and worked four straight days (staying till dark a couple days) to complete the patio.  Very pleased with Mark, his punctuality, professionalism and instructional tutorials he provided on what he was doing and why (I was interested in learning and he took the time to explain).  In the end, even though it was not part of the original bid, Mark brought over landscaping rock to complete the outer edge.  I appreciated this additional detail as it will save me time. Mark does not cut corners and takes the time to do it right.  I would hire Mark for my next project without hesitation. <br />"

"Jim did an excellent job on providing details, drawings and options to fit several jobs into a tight budget. He kept me informed at all times and answered calls promptly. He was professional, offered alternatives and had creative ideas. The company started the next day, were prompt and courteous during the entire process. They cleaned up every day. The deck took longer than all the other anticipated due to delays in obtaining the required products twice. Due to costs, I was not able to have all the work done that I wanted and will have to have finished in a year or two. However, we knew this going into the project and Jim was able to do the work around and had suggestions to ensure it still looked professional. Due to all the rain, the grass was a sea of mud and part of the sidewalk was broken. The company reseeded and fixed the concrete at no charge and it looks beautiful. My large peony bush was the only plant that was lost, literally. It had great sentimental value to me and my daughter, as the flowers were in her wedding bouquet. Jim replaced it at no charge, but was disappointing. I didn't pay close enough attention to the location of the stairs on the deck on the blueprints and it does block off the view from the lower level and the existing patio. By the time I figured out what was what, it was too late. The stone work is beautiful. The plants are blooming. the grass is green. The neighbors and my family love it! Everything is functional and beautiful. Jim listened carefully, worked with the budget, accommodated changes and fulfilled my vision for now and the work down the road."

"The company did all of the fertilization and weed control for the full season. At the beginning of the year, Kevin walked though all the recommended services for my lawn and allowed me to select those I wanted.  I knew the full cost up front. He would call before each service and made sure I was happy. Bottom line is all I had to do was water and mow. Definitely recommended and I will use them again next year."

"Overall, we're very pleased with the job M & P did for us. Erosion was a problem near the foundation on one end of the house. My husband called the company and an estimator was sent out. He submitted a bid which seemed high, but we decided that if a few tweaks could be made to the work proposal, we'd go with it rather than go to the trouble of gathering more bids. In an effort to talk over contract changes and confirm acceptance, my husband left several voice messages with Doug and, finally, with Mike at the company number. No one called back after 3 or 4 attempts. M & P ALMOST LOST THE CONTRACT OVER THAT. In our opinion, that kind of inattention is unforgiveable in business. Fortunately for both parties, our last-ditch call was ultimately returned and the deal was made. The crew showed up on the appointed day. They started digging around 8:30 and were finished in just two hours They had created a perfectly symmetrical gravel bed that looked as if it has always been there. The area was so tidy when they left, there was no evidence that any construction had even taken place. We think the price of the project was higher than most companies would have charged, given that it was just two hours of labor and the materials were less that 10% the cost of the project. But having the job finished to our complete satisfaction makes the cost more justifiable and worth it to us. Best of all, the remnants of Hurricane Gordon just moved through today, and the project performed exactly as it was meant to. There is no mud puddle at the bottom of the slope like there would have been before M & P did their magic."

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Farmington, MO

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
