"Ron took care of us so well. He installed a very expansive drainage system in our backyard since it was flooding consistently last August, and now almost a year later it still works perfectly. We have had awful rains this year, but no flooding at all. I highly recommend him!!!"

"They took on the job at a reasonable rate and started working that same day. A crew of 6 people attacked the project and finished it in 2 days. They were amazing, very hard working and cleaned up after finishing installing the drainage system!!!"

"CRI Landscapes, Inc did an excellent job... For years I've been concerned about rainwater entering one of the bedrooms through the floorboards. After calling numerous foundation repair companies, CRI was the company I felt comfortable with. I received a written estimate, which was more affordable than the other 4 companies I contacted. The work was completed within 3 days, the workers were very patient with all my questions and the cleanup was great. I am very pleased with the job, the crew and with CRI Landscapes, Inc. "

"From the time Jordan's crew arrived early morning, they functioned as a well oiled machine! He was elsewhere gathering supplies to complete the project and they were in make ready mode. These YOUNG MEN really, really worked well without supervision, Jordan's crew was impressive from start to finish. JJ's prices are THE BEST and his YOUNG, STRONG crew is second to none, MIC DROP!"

Customers say: Quality work

6 employees. Uses Licensed subs for irrigation, lighting, brick work and carpentry. You plant around your design, not design around your plants. Confusing? Upon meeting with a new client, most people will typically tell me of their favorite plant(s). Putting plants in the lead position of the design process will guarantee you a landscape that resembles your neighbors and every other house on the street and across the community. It’s like determining the colors you will use in your new house and you haven’t yet designed the house!\n\nLike colours, plants are a medium. You must provide context in order to give meaning. This is the hardscape or ‘bones’ referred to in garden literature. Be it a simple graveled path, a grouping of boulders, or obedient deference to existing topography, this is what will provide year-round interest. It is also the framework that will suggest and therefore help you choose which plants and their placement. The end result is an aesthetic and harmonious integration of hardscape and softscape elements.\n\nThe Walkabout Way acknowledges the on-site environmental realities (ecozone, drainage, sun, shade etc..) and integrating these along with the clients desired outside intentions (active/passive use) as the basis for formulating a design theme. The end result is a naturalistic approach that is environmentally and ecologically sensitive, yet aesthetically pleasing regardless of the season.

"Yes. Mr Garcia was there even earlier than scheduled. He communicated with me regularly to keep me updated. He and his associate did very good work. He also returned the next day to finish a smaller project like he said he would."

Small jobs welcome

"In addition to the stone flower beds, the plants he recommended were an excellent compliment to the brickwork. A Bluetooth controlled irrigation system was also recommended and has made watering the yard and flowers so easy with programmable settings that I can change from my recliner with a few keystrokes. No more going into the garage to adjust settings. The experience with R.D.D. was very pleasant and his crew were hard working and very considerate of our property. We ve had many compliments from neighbors as they walk by. We recommend them with no hesitation."

"If you look at the bad reviews, it's mostly about them not standing behind their work. Same thing has happened to me. They did some sprinkler system repairs which only held up for the summer. The next spring, I noticed a puddle of water where they had done the repairs. I called Jose and described the problem and he said he would come to look at it. After a week or so with no other response, I tried calling him several times, but he would not answer. I finally texted him and he said he was very busy and that he wasn't using the same people for irrigation anymore. After about a month, I finally had to get someone else to do the repair. I texted Jose to let him know how much it cost and he said he would pay half. Even though it was his companies responsibility, I agreed. After almost a year of back and forth text and still not being reimbursed, I've finally given up. I feel like I've given him every opportunity before I did this review. This is what is wrong with the world today. "

FAQs for sod installation projects in Fate, TX

Seeding costs less up front, but you’ll wait months—and sometimes a full season—for the grass to fill in. Sod costs more per square foot, yet it gives you an instant, usable lawn the day it’s installed and needs far less care during the first year.

If speed and early curb appeal matter, the higher sod price is often worth it; if you’re watching every dollar and don’t mind the wait, seed can still be a smart play.

Start by sketching your lawn and breaking it into rectangles or circles. Measure each section, multiply length by width, and then add all the sections together for the total square footage. Standard sod rolls are two feet by 1.5 feet, and one pallet covers 450 square feet.

Divide your total area by 450 to see how many pallets you need, then round up—extras come in handy for cutting around curves or mistakes. Still unsure? A local sod supplier or installer can confirm your math before you order.

Most sod grips the soil within 10 to 14 days. During that stretch, keep foot traffic to a minimum and mow only if the grass gets tall. After two weeks, the roots should be strong enough for light use, but wait six weeks before heavy play or frequent mowing. Giving the grass that short honeymoon helps it anchor firmly and sets the stage for a durable, healthy lawn.

Give your new lawn two full weeks before any foot traffic, then stick to light use only. Hold off on vigorous play, parties, or regular mowing until the six-week mark so the roots can dig deep. Keep watering on schedule and watch for any dry patches. A little patience now means stronger turf and fewer repairs later.

Keep an eye on color, moisture, and even growth. Fresh sod should stay uniformly green; brown spots or gaps hint at dry soil or poor contact. Water deeply at least once a day for the first week (more in hot weather) and back off gradually after the roots take. Avoid heavy foot traffic until the grass feels firmly anchored. Quick attention to trouble spots now prevents costly patches later.

Aim for spring or early fall when daytime temps hover between 55°F and 80°F. Mild weather and consistent moisture help the roots knit quickly. Laying sod in midsummer can stress the grass, while frozen winter soil blocks rooting altogether.

If you must install outside the ideal window, budget extra time for watering and tending to the turf. Choosing the right season makes the job easier and the lawn tougher.
