"Ediscapes are hands down the best contractors I've dealt with in Seattle. We've used a minimum of 15 different contractors over ...the last five years on our South Seattle Home situated on a quarter acer; more when counting our rental in Ballard and the work that we’ve had done there. Decision and Renewal went way above and beyond. They made sure we were on the same page. They made sure we were on budget. They made sure that our expectations for a timeframe matched. We had our first child on the way. Then they came in under budget, in less than the time expected to finish and didn't charge us for several improvements that they had the opportunity to make without costing them additional time or resources. They simply made value added suggestions that made a big difference. Ediscapes felt more like project partners far more than folks we hired. Both times we hired them they earned our trust, respect, kept a close eye on the details, cleaned up the worksite each day, and exceeded our expectations every day. Regardless of the outdoor project, we're contacting them first in the future. The initial project they finished for us, which their work amounted to approximately 13k of 20k, was initially appraised to raise our property value by a minimum of 50k-75k. Their attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship has likely paid for itself three times over. Thank you Ediscapes! We're looking forward to hiring you again! "

Ideas & Inspiration from Seattle Landscaping Companies

Sod Installation in Seattle

Many people living in Seattle, Washington take great pride in the appearance of their home or business, and an attractive lawn often plays a key role. Whether looking to restore worn out areas of a lawn or establish a new one, sod offers a quick and easy solution. According to home improvement expert Bob Vila, people living in northern states should install sod in the fall or spring when the weather is a little cooler. Installation during hot weather can result in grass burning out. Seattle residents across the city rely on professionals to create beautiful lawns in any neighborhood.

Licensing and Insurance Requirements

In the State of Washington, landscaping contractors must register with the Washington Department of Labor and Industries. All specialty contractors (like landscapers) must post a $6000 bond and get $50,000 of property damage insurance. They must also obtain a state Uniform Business Identification (UBI) number and a state revenue tax number before registering with the Secretary of State as a corporation or LLC. Businesses must also cover employees with workers' compensation insurance.

Advantages of Sod Installation

Sometimes, it can be difficult to determine whether to choose seed or sod when establishing a lawn. While the installation of sod offers a costlier alternative to sowing grass seed, it comes with many benefits:

  • Establishes a beautiful lawn very quickly
  • Best choice for sloped areas or those prone to erosion
  • Cleaner option than seed
  • Weed-free when first installed

Additional Features for Consideration

Seattle home and business owners installing a brand new lawn should first make a design plan for the end result. Lawn elements to consider include gardens, shrubs, bushes, trees, and rock. People should also think about the installation of arbors, fencing, water features, patios, decks, or retaining walls when creating a lawn design plan. Sprinkler systems are not of much use here except during the summer. A professional landscaper can help with other ideas.
