"There was a tension cable supporting the power pole that was anchored into the base of a large tree stump to be removed. PSE said that it would cost me $5,000 if stump removal loosened the tension cable. I required Sound Stump Removal to explain their exact process and convince me that they tension cable would not be loosened, and they did, which included manual sawing around the tension cable. "Our experience with Cascadian Construction was excellent. Joe, one of the companyâ  s principals and head foreman, provided true personal service starting with our first meeting. Our job was not a small one. It was a concrete-only project with an extension to our driveway requiring a 3.5 foot retaining wall, a set of concrete steps off the side of our front porch to ground level (3 steps) to a sidewalk on one side of the house to the backyardâ  s shed and sunroom with steps provided to those entries as well. In addition, on the other side of the house, a sidewalk was poured from the front driveway to the backyardâ  s new addition - a large concrete patio. In our initial meeting we walked Joe through our concept for all this while he made outlines on the ground for the sidewalks and patio. He was extremely helpful with the details surrounding the shape of the patio as we wanted a rounded extension into the yard for a fire pit as part of the patio itself. By the time we finished, all of us were on the same page with the outlines of the concrete additions clearly visible. A verbal quote was provided on the spot with a written proposal emailed to us on the following day. The proposal price was the same as the verbal quote. Work commenced within the week and took one week and two trucks of concrete to complete. The resulting product is perfect. His teamâ  s attention to detail is evident. He provided breakout sections in one sidewalk to access underground utilities around the heat pump and septic pump as a precaution. They had to remove and then reinstall two sidewalk gates and a large set of double gates. The reinstalled gates had to be raised to accommodate the new installations. When completed the gates looked like they were newly installed when the concrete was installed. The crew did an excellent job maintaining a clean site. When the job was completed Joe and his crew had carefully removed all residual concrete pieces and cleaned up the site beautifully - something we were concerned about since this was an addition to an existing home. Cascadian Construction is composed of professionals with 20+ years experience in the industry. They know their product. The provided exactly what we wanted, on time and for a very reasonable cost. "We got Matt's name from our neighbor and found him to be a pleasant guy. He stopped by to check out our potential job and offered possibilities for pavers; gave us the name of the company he uses to supply pavers so we could see them first hand. We agreed on the scope of the job and a starting date.
 The job started 3 days later than expected because his prior customer added something at the last minute. But when they arrived, they got right to work removing our concrete porches, all walkways and the driveway. They pulled out the tree in front of our stairwell window that had gotten overgrown and a Japanese lace leaf maple that was also too big in a separate bed. They hauled away concrete so it could be recycled as crushed gravel to reuse as the layer directly under the pavers. Loved the recycle/reuse idea. Excess dirt and plantings were removed and the grading began.
 They began placing the pavers at the foot of the driveway, working toward the garage and house. We chose a pattern called "ashlar" and pavers from Pacific Slate called "sandalwood". The trim blocks along all sides were 4" x 4" blocks from Pacific Slate in "shadow". The placing of the pavers takes quite a bit of time but it's worth the time and labor.  Matt's wife, Tif, brought new plants and placed them in the new beds and put bark on top.  We had them put in an Alpine Fir in one bed and Matt suggested a Green Arrow Alaska Cedar in the bed in front of the stairwell.
 Several days after the final pavers were laid and plantings finished, a clear coat of sealer was rolled on the walkways, driveway and porches.  It looks great and we are very pleased.
