Customers say: True professional

"Our floors look incredible. We're very happy with how quickly the demo for the existing tile and installation of new tile went. There were a few bumps in the process but Dimas was very responsive in helping resolve any issues. The contractors left our house pretty messy (with dust, nails, trash) and we had to ask them to come back out a few times to clean up. Dimas ended up sending out a separate cleaning company to clean up which we were very happy with. Our biggest issue was the state they left our newly painted walls in. We had just painted our entire house before having our floors installed (in hindsight I definitely don't recommend doing things in this order) and they left them with several scrapes and dings in each room. We now have to have our entire house repainted. They didn't really take responsibility for the condition of the walls and even said it wasn't their fault. For those of you who have just painted or don't plan on repainting after flooring installation, I'd caution you with using this company. Otherwise, they did a great job with our floors."

Small jobs welcome

"Excellent! Irvin was always there for at any time replying within minutes and helping secure the permit as well which was stressful for me but he and his assistant Raquel buried my stress. I interviewed 11 supposedly professionals from many websites and these people were legit and did a great job. If you have a demo job and don’t interview One Miami Demo you’re missing it. They even met with City of Miami Unsafe Structures, Building Dept. AND Enviornmental for me to support my e-mails to those departments; sooo worth it just can’t say enough after being screwed by other contractors."

Small jobs welcome

"Demolition and removal of two walkways: Chuck and his helper were very accommodating and respectful. He called to learn more about the project, set up a time to come see it, called to let me know he was on his way and did not ever leave me hanging. Quoted the job at a very reasonable price. We needed to get the job done in a short period of time and he said he could do the work the following morning at 8:30 am. Arrived at 8:00 am and started promptly at 8:30 am. Worked straight thru in the rain and never missed a beat. Cleaned up the site afterwards and left us in very good shape for our next phase of work. Very professional, courteous, and fair. My husband and I highly recommend this organization; they work very hard and do not disappoint."

FAQs for demolition projects in Fort Lauderdale, FL

A complete chimney demolition takes close to five days with a two-person crew; removing only the stack can be completed in half a day. Pros take the structure down brick by brick, add temporary supports if needed, and haul away debris before they leave. Their step-by-step approach safeguards nearby walls and the roof while keeping dust and hazards in check.

Most municipalities require a permit before any part of the chimney comes down. Check with your local building department for the exact fees and paperwork, and confirm any HOA rules that may be applicable. Your structural engineer or chimney professional can obtain the permit on your behalf and ensure that every step complies with local safety and zoning codes.

You can close up your chimney instead of demolishing it. This process involves sealing the damper, installing a chimney cap, and closing the fireplace opening with a secure barrier such as bricks or a door. Closing the chimney maintains the structure while preventing airflow, moisture, and debris entry. This method reduces demolition costs and complies with building code requirements when complete removal is not necessary.

Removing a chimney and switching to modern, eco-friendly alternatives enhances your property’s appeal through increased energy efficiency and potential LEED certification. However, many buyers insist on an operational fireplace, and as a result, removal can reduce overall home value by $5,000. Homeowners should assess market expectations and consult experts to ensure that any changes align with their long-term property goals.

It’s crucial to determine if your chimney is load-bearing before starting removal. Modern homes feature chimneys that are independent of the building’s structure, whereas older homes rely on chimneys for support of critical systems. Review your blueprints or consult a qualified structural engineer to confirm if additional support is necessary. This step ensures safe removal and sound planning.
