"Awesome end-to-end experience! After two other tree service arborists inspected trees with me but then failed to actually send estimates, I searched Angie's List and read many of Gordon's reviews. I left him a voicemail on a Friday. He called me Saturday and was willing to visit that weekend. Since I was busy over the weekend, he agreed to call Monday or Tuesday. He called Tuesday at approx. 11am, indicating he was in the area working a job and could be by in 30 minutes. I agreed to meet him. We inspected my four large shade trees (2 sycamore and 2 maples) and I explained we needed better visibility from front porch, unblock view of a corner stop sign, and ensure no growth into siding. He explained his additional recommendation for overall thinning and shaping. He provided an on the spot verbal estimate of $800 and when I asked if he accepted a credit card, he indicated yes, but would charge only $750 if I wrote a check. I had researched average job costs and Gordon's quote was very reasonable. I then asked what his lead time was and he indicated his crew was finishing a job nearby and they could be by in an hour after they ate lunch. He and his crew arrived promptly an hour later, a crew of six total, including Gordon. Gordon rang the doorbell and asked me to review first tree trimming with him before he moved on to remaining three to ensure it met my expectations per our earlier discussion. After finishing, Gordon asked me to walk our property and review pruning for all four trees. His crew was well organized, worked together like clockwork, and Gordon was right there with them working and directing to ensure all trees were pruned to expectations and clean-up was thorough. Our yard looks "larger" now and is very open with the thinning Gordon recommended, as they removed overlapping and dead branches to include providing more ground clearance. They look great and Gordon indicated they shouldn't require pruning again for at least five years. I'll now hire Gordon for annual tree / shrub maintenance (fertilize, insects, disease prevention) and fire the other provider that had provided that service but failed to provide a pruning estimate. I strongly recommend Gordon and his team for any tree related care! Well done!"

"LPZ Tree Solution is an excellent company, start to finish! A quote was provided upon inspection. The team was punctual, efficient, and worked diligently. They carefully removed two large trees and a dead trunk in less than five hours. Logs and trimmings were removed with minimal property damage (falling logs do dent dirt). The 80 footer had rot high up and stood by a brick wall. Limbs were cut and lowered without incident. LPZ called Miss Utilities and ground stumps after MU indicated where power/water/gas lines were located. Negotiations to conclusion was under two weeks! Everyone in the six-man team was professional and courteous. I will hire again if the need arises. They are that good!"

"Fabulous experience! could not have gone better. Communication spot on. Arrived promptly for estimate and emailed it immediately. they charge $600 and had other estimates for $900, $100 and $1400 for same job! sent out Miss utility and once that was complete they were ready to c ome out the next day. they had to push is to one day later due to an unexpectedly long job but they came the next day as promised. They communicated with me by phone, email and text to let me know off the schedules and any chances. Did the work with a team of 5 and large, well-kept machines. removed the stump and removed all the debris and place was in perfect condition (minus our dead tree) when they left. final payment request came in promptly and was easy to pay online. I would hire them again without any hesitation. VERY happy with the company."

"I had Axcobar Tree Service trim and remove a number of trees and I highly recommend them. I will use them again and not waste time looking at any other companies. They provided an estimate and on our scheduled date arrived first thing in the morning and worked all day. They did an outstanding job and cleaned up everything as they worked. "They took down a dying ash for me and did a good job. There are a few big reasons I'm giving them a bad review. First, despite my specifically asking if a tree removal permit was required, they said no. They know better - I found out afterwards that a permit is required. I could have been fined a serious amount of $$$. They also recommended trimming my huge elm tree in July, but lucky for me two other tree companies told me that elms can only be trimmed in winter when they are dormant. Trimming elms when they have leaves risks Dutch Elm disease. Shifflett has been in business for a long time - surely they know better about all of the above. Really disappointed. In DC, both you as the homeowner and the tree service can get slapped with hefty fines (like $10K and up) for failing to apply for a permit to remove a tree. For a dead or dying tree, the permits are free. Adirondack Tree not only told me I had to get a permit, they also applied and got it for me. It took about 2 days. People may not know that in DC and other areas like Takoma Park, MD, you need a permit to remove trees, but a professional tree service should know and follow this law, it's there for a good reason. See ddot.dc.gov/page/tree-re… Beyond that, Shifflett's estimate that was way more than those from two other tree companies. I'm just lucky that I got other estimates - otherwise I would have paid far more, risked being fined for not having the required permit, and my elm tree could have gotten Dutch Elm disease due to Shifflet's negligence."

I know there are so many companies to choose from but if you want an honest, fair, professional, caring and truly knowledgeable company this one is 100% the one to choose. You can't go wrong with them. I used the text message option to get in contact (that was a great option) with them and within an hour they showed up at the door ready to help with my tree problem. I learned more about trees in 10 mins than I've known my whole life. If you want the best company out there you definitely should use Virginia Tree Specialist. ? If there was a 10 star ? rating I would pick that because that's what they deserve"
