"I received an elevator kit and assembled it myself. The instructions were OUTSTANDING! Clear, concise, comprehensive. Hired someone to cut the hole in the garage attic floor and installed it myself."

"Working with Zack and Scott was great! Even thought this was all done online and over the phone they were accommodating time wise, and even when I asked to include my father on the conference call they were happy to allow him to chime in as well. We started out with a brief consultation describing what they would do, the cost and what we could expect.  Then we did a call where we measured our basement, this was a little tricky as we needed 2 people to do this and we had to tell them our exact measurements, but they made sure we were measuring correctly and that everything added up the way it should, and they took into consideration every nook, cranny and pipe.  Then we meet briefly with Scott to discuss a preliminary layout, how many bedrooms, closets, TV location, bar vs. buffet, couch size that sort of thing. Scott was very knowledgeable and even accounted for bed sizes to make sure there would be enough walking space around any furniture we would want to add.  Then Scott presented us with a final design, this is when he gladly allowed my father to ask questions and get details about the project.  He answered all of our questions about location or outlets, and lights, and even some more detailed questions.  Overall we had a great experience and I really enjoyed working with them.  They listened to us (definitely the most important thing) when we didn't want something they took it out or if we did want something they added it (if they could), they explained why they had made some design choices we weren't as sure about so we could understand why they were important or if we really wanted to do them. <br />"

"Job went well. They stayed within the estimated price. Completed the job on time and the employees were professional. I expected them to still be in business, I called the other day (9-14-17) and to my dismay they no longer do HVAC but instead are focusing on their plumbing side of the business."

"I contacted Kenny because of a crack in my foundation that had developed since the company had raised my foundation a year ago. Kenny arrived to assess the problem and recommended a special sealant to fill the crack. He said he could do it free of charge. He came to do the repair but unfortunately the end of his caulking gun broke off. It was late in the afternoon and he said he was booked solid until next week. He then contacted two of his co-workers, Jake and Bradley to see if they could come the next morning. They showed up the next morning and had the job completed in about 10 minutes. Good work! !"

"First off, the owner is a very nice guy but I think I allowed him to take advantage of me.  We had a small bathroom with shower/tub that we wanted remodeled.  I gutted the entire bathroom before Alara's showed up to start work.  I wanted him to install a new shower, tile the floor, new texture (knock down), paint, install a toilet and cabinets plus new door.  He also did some basic wiring because we added a sconce light. <br /> <br />Since we had two other bathrooms I always told him to fit me in when he's ready to do this job instead of rushing.  I've had other contractor's that rushed the job on other projects and I felt like they weren't doing a good job.  I think Alara's took advantage of this because there were times an entire work week would pass without seeing them here and no phone call giving us an update as to when they'd fit us in.  Then, there were times when he would show up after doing another job and he'd seam rushed probably because he knew we weren't pleased with a lack of work being done here.  So he'd show up when not really ready to devote time here but knew he better do something. <br /> <br />The finished product:  First off the shower door, on rollers, would not stay shut because the sub-contractor that he hired to do the plumbing put the tub in off level.  So, while taking a shower we'd have to hold or prop the door closed or water would spray on the floor.  The verticle seem where the shower stall meets the dry wall has about a half inch gap on the bottom tapering to a tight fit as it travels up the length of the seem.  Looks terrible. <br /> <br />The knock down texture on the walls looks like something I would do!  Lots of flat areas where he pulled too h****** the texture, basically scraping it down to the dry wall.  Several gouge lines in texture where there was a dry clump of mud that got drug with the trowel.  One area looks like he rested his arm on the wet texture as it looks like a forearm imprint on the wall. <br /> <br />The tiled floor is pretty good, however, instead of running a row of tiles up tight against bath tub he cut them short and put grout in the 1/4" gap.  This could be ok if the tub and walls were square, however, since they are not, the grout line along the tub tapers from 1/4" to flush.  This made the narrower part of the grout line unstable and began crumbling soon after completion. <br /> <br />His first attempt at installing a new door was done too high.  The bottom of the door was approximately 2" above finished floor height.  This meant that when someone was sitting on the throne, people walking past the bathroom could see their feet from under the door!  <br /> <br />We wanted a sconce light added to a wall in the bathroom.  He told me electrical wasn't his specialty but would refer to an electrician he knew for some Q&A.  A bathroom with lots of water flowing and high humidity is defiantly  not the place to dabble in electricity! <br /> <br />The vanity and recessed medicine cabinet was done to our satisfaction. <br /> <br />I've heard, from a contractor's point of view, that the hardest part of being a contractor is getting paid in a timely manner.  I paid him on the spot when the job was complete.  It's frustrating when the finished product looks so poorly.  Guess I should have been better at scrutinizing the job before payment was made. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for remodel to accommodate a disability projects in Gillette, WY

Standard Medicare coverage often doesn't extend to home modifications, such as roll-in showers. In specific circumstances where medical necessity is clearly established, limited coverage might be available through certain Medicare programs. Many homeowners explore alternative funding sources such as home modification grants, veterans' benefits, or specialized financing programs designed for accessibility improvements. Consulting with a Medicare representative about your specific situation provides the most accurate guidance.

Roll-in showers deliver significant benefits beyond their monetary return, particularly in terms of safety, independence, and long-term accessibility. By eliminating barriers to bathing, these installations help prevent falls while accommodating mobility devices, such as wheelchairs or walkers. Their open design creates a contemporary appearance that appeals to many homebuyers. For households planning to age in place or accommodate family members with mobility challenges, the functional advantages often outweigh pure financial considerations.

A standard roll-in shower installation takes two to four days. Projects requiring extensive renovation or plumbing changes may take longer, potentially extending to several weeks or months. Factors affecting the timeline include existing bathroom configuration, permit processing times, contractor availability, and material delivery schedules. Creating proper drainage slopes often requires additional preparation time compared to traditional shower installations, particularly when modifying existing floor structures.
