"The work was done promptly. The site was cleaned up when finished. No surprises on the cost. Will the repair hold up over the long Michigan winter? I think so. I will have to up date next year. <br />"

"Excellent service. We had some materials, shingles and wood, that kept the price down. Arrived right on time and worked quickly and efficiently. Absolutely no mess left from their work. <br /> Our roof will need to be replaced within the next couple of years, it is 20 years old, and Scott gave us a very reasonable estimate for the future work. <br /> Will definitely be hiring this company for the new roof. <br />"

"Fantastic, I am very happy. I have to admit that never having done this before, I was extremely concerned about the chemicals being used and probably worried about it more than I needed to. Steve was excellent about all my questions more than once, and the guys who came out were very helpful, too, wanting to do whatever they could to address my concerns so I was feeling better about the whole thing. I will tell you up front that if you have streaks, do use this service. It looks like I re-roofed my house!!! I cannot believe the difference. I had a great roof that had many years to go on it, but it looked terrible and affected the overall appearance of my home tremendously. Now everything looks incredibly clean and maintained because the roof is clean. About the chemicals, all we did was to hose down the areas where the downspouts were. I even had a beautiful, prized hydrangea bush that I was pretty convinced would be affected, but it turned out it was totally fine. And it was right at the bottom of a downspout. The one downspout that I forgot to pay attention to and hose down (which the guys do help with hosing things down, but I wanted to do extra) ... did have some grass that was affected. But it was only a small amount and even though I was super concerned about the effect it would have on my landscaping, it was nothing like I thought and 100% totally worth it for the outcome. I will work with Steve again in years to come when my roof develops issues again, and I am fully confident he will be in business because it's a great service and he knows how to meet his customers needs and concerns. Truly fabulously happy with this service and so glad I called him. I hated looking at the roof every time I viewed my house from the street ... but now I take my time pulling out of the drive just so I can look at how clean and amazingly new it looks. Honestly, it looks like a brand new roof. Worth every single penny!!!"

"Very professional outfit. They have done 2 jobs for me in the last 4 years. First was a pole barn, pretty straight forward job. The second was all new gutters on my house, a much more involved project. Quality of product and installation is excellent. And they clean up after themselves. Nice people to work with!"

"What can I say but AWESOME? There's a reason Sherriff-Goslin has been around for over 100 years and has the reputation they do. We knew when we bought our house in 2008 that a new roof was in our future, but when shingles started falling off in the summer of 2015, the time had arrived. Thinking we'd just start with an estimate from S-G because we'd heard they were "expensive," but also "the best," we contacted Mike Woodhouse. Mike addressed our concerns, explained the process in detail, explained the materials that would be used and why they were the best quality, and answered all of our questions (and we had a LOT of questions). Gus and his amazing crew worked quickly and cleanly, even when faced with a surprise 3rd layer of old shingles to remove and the unplanned construction of a new slope on the flat roof at the back of our house. Once the work was complete, Mike and Justin came out to address a few cosmetic concerns we had, which Shawn finished up the following week. Considering the scope of the job and the fact that S-G stands behind its work, we received a great value for our investment. We couldn't be happier with our new roof or the overall experience we had with S-G."

"When your shopping for replacement windows you have to be careful. I received quotes from several companies and the prices and quality varied wildly. Not to mention some sales people spent most of their time trash talking the competition. And what they don't tell you is what you have to watch out for. A couple things I learned to watch for: 1. Energy Star Ratings - In 2016 the rating was raised the energy star rating, and many company's windows do not make the new standards. Therefore they do not perform as well and do not qualify for any rebates from the utilities. 2. Quality, I'm no expert on replacement window construction. You hear foam filled and foam filling adds nothing, allot of talk about seams etc. I didn't know what to believe or what was good or bad after a while. So I went back to the Energy Star Rating. That told me about the performance in scientific terms. Window World windows are Energy Star Rated. Also the Window World Sales Person demonstrated their window performance in a way no others did. He froze one side of the window and asked us to touch the other side and did we feel any cold. We didn't then he put a torch flame to the inside. If there was heat transfer it would have quickly melted the frost on the other side it didn't. Very impressive. 2. The Price and Discount Game - All companies make the windows custom to fit the opening, so if your making them custom, size doesn't matter as much.. Several companies came out and measured each one and say you have so many this size and that size and this type and that type. There would be allot of pencil and calculator activity. Resulting in a very high number. Which they they would then start calculating discounts for this and that. Even had one sales guy tell me he normally gets 10% commission, but would only take 2% just for me. Not to mention he told me he had bone cancer (looked pretty healthy to me) Figured he was trying to get the sympathy sell. It's all a game to make you feel like your getting a real deal. Just look at the bottom line price. What I liked about Window World is it was simple. All windows are custom, so there was basically one price. No games and they still came in lower than everybody else for energy star windows. Many of the larger companies you hear advertised all the time on television came in thousands higher. At the end just take the total and divide it by the number of windows. Don't be pressured, was told the discounts and offers were only good for one day. I am very satisfied with the quality of the window, and the installation. 15 window, one day to put them all in and on the second day they did all the outside flashing. I watched the installation and found it to be very good. The main installer had 18 years experience with Window World, was pleasant and respectful to deal with. In summary, after my long search I am very happy I chose Window World."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Grand Junction, MI

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
