"Absolutely awful quality install. Took 6 calls to finally get it fixed. They also lie during the sales meeting saying you?re paying for salaried employees to install, when in reality they just hire third party contractors who can?t caulk or work responsibly at all. They will fix the issue if you keep calling them (they will try to ghost you for the first 3-4 times) but don?t offer you their best price outright, and straight up harass you if you decline their service. This was a 6800$ mistake I learned my lesson from, I am hoping I can help any body else NOT make the same mistake I did- they also left a ton of broken glass( and busted up my porch) and trim all over my driveway and yard, almost like they just flung it everywhere and buried it in the snow on their way out. Too long didn?t read: they are liars who do lousy work, then try to ghost you to avoid accountability. Avoid at all costs."

"Unlike the 4 other window companies, including Andersen, I had look at my windows for replacement, Window World's sales reps came with a checklist with prices. I knew exactly how much I was paying the day the rep came to my house. The other companies would not give me quotes, stating "let us know what the other companies say" or "we'll cut you deals if you say yes today". Window World's being upfront on prices was greatly appreciated. The work crew was quick, professional, and polite, and the windows (made by Window World) look fantastic. The sun comes through better, but they also are better insulated than my previous windows. I am very satisfied with the results."

"Very professional outfit. They have done 2 jobs for me in the last 4 years. First was a pole barn, pretty straight forward job. The second was all new gutters on my house, a much more involved project. Quality of product and installation is excellent. And they clean up after themselves. Nice people to work with!"

"Jim is quite the professional. He was prompt and explained the work to be done, how long it would take and the overall price. He met all my expectations. His helper was also polite and respectful. When the job was done you would have never known that he'd been there - he cleaned the area just as he found it. I would defintely hire him again."

"Well I really was trying to not do this but I really feel this has to be said. First off we were told the crew to put up our siding would only take two weeks and it ended up taking two months! The workers were playing their music REALLY loud everyday. They left half drank Pepsi or Coke bottles in the yard when they left for the night. They left nails everywhere and never cleaned them up. We ended up cleaning up most of them. Also one of the crew members smoked on our property constantly. They re-wired our electrical wrong from an outside outlet. How do we know? My husband looked at it and knew it wasn’t right and called Blackberry and threatened to call the builders association if something wasn’t done. They sided over both doorbell wires and only uncovered one so we could have at least one doorbell. Sliced one of our brand new screens on our brand new windows, never let us know . BlackBerry did bring out an electrician that told us our house could have burnt down due to the faulty wiring. We found numerous issues that was due to poor workmanship. They rewired the air conditioner wrong per the electrician. They broke the conduit on the electrical box to our pool pump. Pieces of siding that was too short , left holes in the siding by the pool pump. Didn’t nail trim around garage door on one side so it sticks out further than the other. Gutters leaked everywhere so they had to come back and fix that. Now our siding is buckling , which we kinda knew was gonna happen and informed BlackBerry while they were still putting the siding up but nothing was done. Now we have distasteful buckling of the siding that needs to be fixed. Doug has been helpful at times. There is so much more wrong I don’t know what else to say. I’m very disappointed and wouldn’t send my worst enemy to them . Oh and they did let us know they fired the crew that sided our house . Well good for other people but too bad for us and the sloppy workmanship we have to put up with . When you pay this much money you expect good results."

"From the very first meeting at our home to discuss the scope of the project, we were impressed with their professionalism and knowledge. Their quote was competitive, (within five percent of other proposals), and the materials Pennings used for the job were, in some cases, superior. They were patient with us as we tweaked the design multiple times. We were delighted at the creativity and inspiration their architect provided to our project. Careful attention was paid to insuring the addition looked like it was part of the original design of the home, and it shows! The architect gave us multiple options to choose from, one of which even decreased the footprint without compromising design or our priorities, and actually reduced costs. Through the process, we met all of the senior management at the company. Not only is everyone extremely competent, but also personally delightful. They are very customer focused, and are always looking to exceed expectations. Our project manager has been phenomenal. From the very beginning, he shared the daily schedule with us so we knew exactly what to expect and prepare for. Changes were also communicated, and accommodations were made to be as non-intrusive as possible in our lives during construction. We were involved in every decision, whether small or large, and we had the freedom to make adjustments along the way. If any concerns arose with sub-contractors, we only had to communicate with Pennings and any issues were handled immediately. We chose to take on some of the work ourselves to reduce the overall cost of the project, and there were no objections. In fact, our project manager often provided advice to us or lent a hand when possible. Pennings has been a delight to work with. From start to finish, it was an exceptionally positive experience and we are thrilled with the outcome."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Grand Junction, MI

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
