"Overall we were very satisfied by the quality of the work with followup required on the grass seed. See specifics by the work done below: 1. Brought in soil, grass seed & sod to fix bare areas in lawn including removing the plastic from the back corner bed. Grass seed did not take well as was very hot during late spring 2018 versus original request to plant in early spring. However, Williams followed up in Oct 2018l and reseeded so awaiting to see results in Spring 2019 of that planting. 2. Put in a few natural flagstones to create a path from the back concrete pad at the base of the deck steps to the concrete pad under the gate on that side. Looks awesome and eliminated wear and tear on grass. 3. Installed a dry river bed along the back fence line. Included rubble edging to contain the large decorative gravel in the dry river bed that connects with existing corner bed in back. Very pleased with this work as it eliminated unsightly washing out of soil along back fence line. 4. Created landscape bed on front sloped area with limestone steps cutting through the bed & Vinca ground-cover plants, which will eventually cover the entire bed and help prevent the soil from washing. Very pleased with this work as the design offered by Williams and the install eliminated an unsightly portion of front yard where grass was very difficult to grow. 4) Installed an 18' x 10' paver patio extension behind existing concrete patio. Stone patio looks awesome and gives us some more gathering pace for friends and family and eliminated another tough area to grow grass by our oak tree in backyard."

"It was delivered at the scheduled time and dumped on my drive exactly where I wanted it. The mulch did contain some debris, such as rocks, paper. I think that is typical since the mulch comes from yard waste but there was a bit more than I expected. Overall, a good quality experience from a friendly, professional company."

"We had a terrible drainage problem in our backyard with standing water constantly rendering our backyard useless. We couldn’t even mow our grass. I contacted Horizontal Earthworks through the Angie’s List website e-mail and Scott promptly replied and set up an appointment to come up with solutions and give an estimate. The estimate was in writing and was reasonable for the amount of work we needed done. In less than two days time Scott and his team completely transformed our backyard. Using a bobcat, Scott created a swale and berms to better control and direct surface water. Next, they installed a large underground drainage tank on one end of the yard connected to a french drain with three surface water catch basins spaced along the length of our yard. Lastly, new topsoil was applied, the yard was graded smooth, and new sod was installed. It was quite amazing to watch my yard transform from a swamp to a nice green inviting space. Now when it rains we can look down through the small yard grate of a catch basin and see the water flowing nicely underground in the french drain from one end of our yard to the other. No more pooling of water on the surface creating a muddy mess. It seemed to me that the crew at Horizontal Earthworks functioned together as a well-organized team. Everyone on the team was polite, informative and focused on getting the job done right and on schedule. Scott provided excellent communication from start to finish and even contacted me days later after the first time it rained to see if I was pleased with the outcome. I would recommend Horizontal Earthworks to anyone who needs some serious drainage and landscaping work."

"We can't even begin to show our full appreciation for Dan, his brother Kevin, and the team at Good Earth Outdoor. We had a two-tiered retaining wall that was falling over with outdated landscaping. Dan listened to every single one of our concerns and ideas. His team dismantled the old walls, built two new ones with proper drainage, landscaped, and added lighting. Our main concern was the construction of the wall being done properly, but his team explained what they were doing and why, every step of the way. They even reused our existing blocks, which ended up being more work for them, but saved us a ton of money. We will use Good Earth for all of our future landscaping/hardscaping projects.
