"The project did not go as well as I would have liked, and had I not been home, it would have been done completely wrong. First they removed the old railings and wanted to install the new white railings to the deck before sanding the floor, I had to stop that. The sanding was done by hand and not with a floor sander so it didn't remove all the old paint. Then I chose a color from the chart they supplied and after four attempts to get the color right I had to settle for as color that was closer to the color on my house. Then she the put the railings on they tried to cut corners and not buy a stair railing but use a standard railing which they attempted for a full day to make fit. At that point I called the sales person and told him that was not happy. They did put the correct railing on at the end. Lastly I had a gate put on the stairway and the put it on so it swings into the deck instead of to the railing swinging to the outside. Had I not come home in time, they would have left it that way. To repair it they had to buy additional posts and plugs to repair the hols in the gate. Again I settled fo this. The price was very high, but I thought I was going to get a better end product which I don't think I did. The deck still needs another quote because it was not good coverage with the first coat of the color I had to settle on."

Work was further delayed through no fault of Arch Painting due to continuous wet weather. Once a good weather window finally occurred, the work was performed quickly with no impact on us. Carpenters repaired some rotted trim on my old house, and then within a week, the entire house was scraped and sanded, powerwashed, primed, and painted, including two tones on the trim work. "Renes came to our newly purchased condo and, after a thorough inspection, gave us a very reasonable written detailed estimate of the painting work that we had requested. He noticed details about the work to be done that other painting contractors had not mentioned to us. Communication with him and his office manager was always prompt and helpful. The interior painting job took four days (which is exactly how long he had told us that it would take) and was beautifully done, with real attention to detail. After we had picked out the specific Benjamin Moore colors and paint sheen to be used (with advice from Renes), Renes bought all of the paint (at a contractor's discount) and started the job three days after we had decided to hire him. All of his workers were prompt and friendly and did an excellent job of safely moving two large china cabinets. We inspected the work each day (with Renes proudly showing us specific details of repairs that he had done so the painting would be effective in certain areas) and Renes was quick to accept the small suggestions that we made. After completing the work, Renes left us the leftover paint in case touch ups were needed and he and his workers cleaned up everything. The paint job itself was perfect -- no paint bleed-overs onto the trim, no paint marks on the floors or windows, and no extra charges over the original written estimate that we had been given. We would happily hire R & J Painting again!"
