"Ezra and Charles are very friendly and personable. That is, when they want to take your money. What good is a 12-year warranty if you start ignoring your customers at 2 years. I needed my HVAC replaced. Because the HVAC sits on my roof, I decided to redo the roof too. Ezra and Charles came out and were really friendly so I immediately had a good impression of them. Even though it would’ve been cheaper to go with a roofer and a separate HVAC company, I decided to go with Landmark Construction Crew, aka Landmark Energy Upgrades. I figured it would be a more seamless process for one company to do both. I got this done in December of 2016. The thing with a roof is that you don’t know if it’s a good job or not until it rains so I waited to write a review. Around January 2018 ( a little over a year later ) we got some much needed rain but unfortunately, I had a leak coming from one of my vents. I emailed Ezra and he sent out a roofer. The roofer came, looked at the vent, jumped up on the roof for ten minutes and said he was done. Months later, it rained again, it leaked again, I emailed Ezra again. I decided to take a closer look at the vent and noticed that there was sunlight in the ductwork. I figured sunlight equals gap somewhere. When the roofer came, I told him and he said it’s nothing, probably just a reflection, without even taking a look. Then the roofer tells me that the next time there is a leak, I need to call the HVAC guy because it’s not a roof problem. I couldn’t believe it so I told him that HIS company IS the HVAC guy!! I used one company to do the roof and the HVAC so there is NOBODY else to blame. So, he jumps back on the roof and was done and gone in 10 minutes. About a month goes by and the rain is back and so is my leak. It’s 2019 so it rained a lot this year. Good for California, bad for me. So, I emailed Ezra again. After a few weeks, no reply. So, I email him again with pictures, a few more weeks go by and no reply. So, I call him and he picked up the phone. He sounded surprised to hear from me (probably didn’t recognize my phone number) and I start telling him about the leak. He said he didn’t get my emails but just text him my address and he’ll send somebody. A couple of weeks goes by and nothing. So, I text him again and after weeks and weeks of waiting, no reply. I’ve emailed, called, and texted so, at this point, it’s very obvious he’s avoiding me. If you are looking for a friendly company that is willing to take your hard-earned cash then Landmark is for you. But if you’re looking for a company that is accountable for their work then look elsewhere. I know I am."

"No doubt they hire great installation people, but their communication and honoring their quotes has little to be desired. I will elaborate. I was given a quote, left on my voicemail. I responded the next day letting NRG know I accepted their quote. 1 week later I received a phone call telling me they wouldn't honor the quote give, and they cited the reasons as Tarif's. This was back in April 2025. I still went with NRG, albeit at a$1000.00 increase. The second reason I wouldn't recommend this company, and this for me is the final straw, after installing my solar NRG didn't let me know I needed to have an ESR release, in layman's terms this is necessary for your power company to accept your new solar system. I found out this information when they contacted me in August 2025. NEG blamed the company who upgraded my Electrical Panel. NRG INSTALLED MY SOLAR AFTER THE PANEL WAS UPGRADED. Since this company doesn't communicate with its clients I would say go with another company."

"Zach committed to be the kit home assembly and finish contractor, building upon a foundation to be provided by others. I paid a $1500 retainer to Zach in mid-2017 to come up to speed on assembling the kit home, and to prepare a detailed cost estimate. I provided 80% plans (with all detail relevant to his work finalized) in mid-October 2017. I delivered the plans and requested a cost estimate within 4 to 6 weeks. I inquired again in January 2018 and in July 2018 as to progress. Zach advised me in August 2018 that he would not act as contractor due to high increases by his subcontractors (due a local fire-replacement building boom). I said that I still needed the cost estimate, and he agreed to complete it. Due to his family difficulties, I deferred the deadline until November. No cost estimate was ever produced. After a 15-month delay, when I advised him that I wanted a full refund, he returned $1000, charging me $500 for ZERO work product. Stay clear of this contractor!"

"Needed a new roof and relied on Angie's list. Ocean Seven Builders always came out on top and now I know why. Could not have been easier. No high pressure. Just the facts presented so we could make our own decision. Scheduling was fine, always kept us in the loop. Crew was professional, careful not to damage anything like plants, etc. and cleaned up after themselves after each work day. Love our new roof. Very happy with their service. "I was happy with my experience with this firm. In early December, Juan with Sustainable Living Builders responded to an Angie's List request I had made late on a Friday night for emergency roof repair for a leak at my chimney. He contacted me the next morning and the leak was repaired later that day. The repair, which had been unsuccessfully attempted by another roofer earlier in the week, has been through several significant rainstorms and hasn't leaked since. The members of the crew who fixed the leak were courteous and confident. Although the pricing wasn't clear to me ahead of time (and I didn't know until I was billed several weeks later), the final cost was within the ballpark Juan and I had initially discussed on the phone, which I considered to be reasonable. (I would have preferred having a breakdown of the costs in the bill, but that's obviously less important than the success of the repair.) Lastly, they offer a 5 year warranty, which I fortunately haven't had to use but nonetheless consider important. Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend this firm."

Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."
