"I met and dealt with Richard while I was having my bardominium built in 2023. The concrete he pored for the 64x40 was perfect. He helped me out in many other ways on his own time on the weekends. I am happy that he has acquired the honest family business his dad worked so hard to make successful, and that Richard has been a part of since a very young age."

"The room came out very nicely. The contractor was very helpful in suggesting the right materials and did the carpet for price of epoxy since he had already committed to it. They also put the trim for free. There were some delays in work however we are very happy with how everything came out after the job was done."

".They are the ones who actually installed the asphalt driveway three years ago. They did a good job. They had a full crew and completed in a reasonable time.
The year later they stopped by and asked if I wanted them to seal the driveway. They quoted a price and I said "no not now".
This year they came to my house again. I was not here. My wife said to go ahead and do it. This was fine with me except the price was to much. They offered to do it for me last year for almost half what they charged her. We don't have an extremely long section of driveway but they charged her $550.00 dollars and she said they were here for about an hour. The receipt was on the back of a business card. The then ran to the bank and cashed the check before they left Bloomington and went back to where they work from.
They took advantage of and overcharged us. This and running to the bank the same day p***** me off.
"

"
The job went great considering I hired Robert to complete multiple projects, based on our great experience with him last year, building our new deck, fence and sidewalk.

He is very consciences and particular about his workmanship, extremely neat and courteous, he was working here for quite a while due to the scope of the project and was always on time and working when he said he would be here.. He handled everything perfectly and kept me informed as to his schedule and what would be done next.

I would highly recommend Robert for any type of interior or exterior remodeling project, his prices are fair and the work is great.

"

"After showing up several hours later than promised, and too late to complete the work as the sun was setting and temperature dropping into 40s, then not showing up the next day as promised, I had to call to find out what was going on. Again the workers did not showing up at the time promised, but were several hours late, and then the work performed appeared rushed and was very poor quality. The seal coating completely missed a couple large areas of the driveway, the grass was not edged back from the drive leaving the edges of the drive untreated with sealcoating, and I was left with questions about whether some of the cracks that were not filled should have been (to me some of the unfilled cracks looked to be larger than 1/4 inch). I texted pictures to Tim of the work, and he had his employees come back out to completely redo the driveway, and he came out himself to supervise and help. There were many different excuses given by Tim and the employees about the reasons for the poor communication and poor quality of the initial work (previous jobs took longer than expected, worker's partner was at hospital because of sick relative, two employees were new with one that had no sealcoating experience, etc). However the final work completed was A+ quality work and looks almost new again. Received many compliments on the final job, and my neighbors had Central Paving and Sealcoating do their driveway. The company came through and made everything right in the end, and we would most likely call them again when our driveway needs another sealcoating, but we would do so knowing not to expect excellent communication and punctuality.
"

"
Prior to this job, I had never hired a general contractor to work on my home or property. I had either done the work myself or hired sub-contractors to do work beyond my abilities (ie ? masonry). I took time in finding someone I thought I could trust and who seemed truly interested in the job. I signed a contract with Renew Concepts in late July. Initially, Mark planned to complete the job by the first week in September. Work did not begin until the second week in August, but this was expected.

Mark started with tree removal and the removal truck promptly broke down. It sat in my yard with my back fence removed for about 10 days with no progress made on any of the work. I believe the tree work was finished at the end of August.

Driveway and yard excavation was next and this took little time. Unfortunately, weeks passed before any concrete was poured. The garage masonry, dry well, and underground electrical work was done during this time. The excavation, electrical, and well work seemed well-done but constituted only a few days worth of work during the weeks that passed.

The patio and drive were poured in two parts. When the drive was poured, no work was performed during the initial curing process. After 2 weeks (I think) subcontractors came in to complete the garage roof and construction for the garage door.

In October, the yard was then graded and the work was more or less done in the yard except for the clean-up and replaced fencing. Mark began construction of the composite deck and completed the relief cuts for the concrete and the drains for the downspouts. This took weeks.

In early November, Mark completed the new fencing at the back of the yard and between the garage and house. The deck was also completed. Final clean-up was done in mid-November.

All this work was of good quality and met or exceeded my expectations. Mark uses quality materials and is careful about his work and the work of his sub-contractors. The main issue, obviously, is that this job took so long to complete. My first payment was in late July and the final payment was Nov. 30. Mechanical breakdowns, illness, and injuries kept Mark from being able to stay on top of the job and time just kept passing by.

I am a patient person in general, but the passage of time wore on my family and me. Frankly, except for the excavation and concrete, I could have done all of the work in the same time frame for less money. Mark did his best to make-up for the delay. He is a personable and intelligent business owner, but seemed to lack the resources to find solutions to the delays. He was unable to find another contractor to fill in when he was incapacitated and had a limited number of employees that he could trust to do the work to his satisfaction. Note: when Mark came by recently to fix a problem with the deck, he mentioned that he is looking for a manager. This may solve delay problems.

There are other lesser issues with the work, such as multiple rebuilds for parts of the deck, but these were all solved quickly and to my satisfaction. The cost of the work was reasonable and Renew Concepts goes out of its way to recycle or reuse material, making the job a bit more environmentally sound. Mark was readily available by phone and tried to keep me up-to-date regarding delays and other changes. Even though the work took far too long, I never felt as if I were being scammed or deceived in any way.

I checked that I would not hire this contractor again; yet, the work was good enough that I may be persuaded to hire them again on a small job to give the company a chance to redeem itself.
"

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in Heyworth, IL

Polished concrete floors offer many benefits with very few drawbacks. While issues like discoloration, stains, or imprints may occur during pouring, these are rare when working with a skilled flooring contractor. Once polished, concrete floors are easy to maintain, long-lasting, and eco-friendly. They also resist mold and moisture, making them ideal for allergy-prone households, and offer versatile design options for both indoor and outdoor use.

Polished concrete flooring is often more affordable than tile. It involves lower material costs and less labor-intensive installation. Tile installations require additional leveling and preparation, which increases labor costs. Opting for concrete flooring helps reduce upfront expenses and provides a durable, stylish finish that saves money over time with minimal maintenance.

While epoxy flooring offers enhanced durability and toughness compared to polished concrete, it comes with higher material and labor costs. If budget is a top priority, polished concrete floors provide a resilient and attractive finish without the premium price tag, making them an ideal choice for value and long-term performance.

Polished concrete floors last 20 years or more when installed by licensed professionals and maintained with proper care. Their enduring finish withstands heavy use and remains visually impressive for decades. Regular deep cleaning and maintenance help safeguard the floor’s integrity, providing homeowners with a long-lasting, cost‐effective solution that endures daily wear without compromising style.

Polished concrete floors increase home value by offering a modern, sleek appearance and exceptional durability. A professionally installed floor not only enhances visual appeal but also minimizes maintenance expenses, making the property more attractive to prospective buyers. This flooring upgrade delivers a refined look while boosting overall market competitiveness and long-term property value.
