"The owner gave a reasonable estimate and the employee did a professional job. During the inspection I pointed out some areas I thought should be given added flashing and he did it immediately with no complaints. Overall, excellent experience and I would highly recommend him."

"My experience with Fortified Roofing was outstanding. Fortified Roofing installed my new roof a couple years ago and they did an amazing job. They were quick, clean and gave a very reasonable price. They also offered a great warranty. The roof looks amazing. Last winter I noticed I was getting a leak in my attic around the chimney. I called Fortified to report the problem, they came out immediately and inspected the attic and decide to reflash my chimney at no charge. A few weeks later I notice I was still getting water in my attic. I called Fortified back and they immediately came out again and this time they peeled back the new shingles and installed an ice guard, replaced some plywood and re shingled, again at no charge. It turns out the leak was coming from the chimney and I needed to have my chimney rebuilt by a separate company, Fortified offered to reflash the new chimney once it was installed, again at no charge. I was blown away on how considerate and personal my house felt to the staff and crew. John and Joy were an absolute pleasure to deal with. I didn’t feel like a customer I felt like a close friend. Fortified roofing went above and beyond, and I would highly recommend them! 5 stars! -Dave"

"I was very pleased on all interactions and work performed by A Plus Roofing. They were flexible and responsive through the whole process and gave me a fair deal. Despite trying to contact many roofers who were not available or reliable, I read the Angi reviews and called A Plus. I read Eric from A Plus was the only roofer who actually went on the roof to estimate which I know from experience set them apart from the others that had come to quote me. Eric did just that. He went on the roof and quoted me only for what needed to be replaced (an area of shingles) but also assessed the rest of the roof. He didn't try to sell me a new roof. Also, kudos to Vincenza from the office who regularly reached out and organized appts that worked around the icy weather and our availability. The on site team was competent, efficient, tidy and quick. Highly recommend A Plus (and we're formerly in the construction business so that means a lot!). It was a pleasure to do business with them."

"Barb and her team are fantastic! We received a letter from our home owner's insurance company telling us that we needed to have mold and lichen removed from our roof or face costly penalties. As new home owners, the last thing we needed was to replace our roof after all the expenses of closing, moving, and making repairs. Barb came out to assess our roof, which turned out to be in great shape. Some close-proximity trees created the mold and lichen situation. With an expert consultation and some helpful instructions, Barb set us up for service. The team that came out to clean our roof was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and safety-focused. We had our roof and siding cleaned, which brought both amazing curb appeal and peace of mind knowing that we no longer had harmful lichen and mold that could damage our roof. I would highly recommend Roof Renew Pros LLC."

"My house is 20 years old. We recently had a torrential rainstorm. Sitting in my 2nd floor office, rain began leaking through the ceiling. I looked for a roofing company with a good reputation and called Wagner Roofing in Flemington, NJ. They were quick to respond and sent Mark out who climbed up on top of my roof and detected leaks in flashing around the vent pipes. He caulked all of them and even cleaned out my dryer vent. He gave me an estimate on a new roof but that was it. “No charge for today,” said Mark. He never tried to sell us anything or scare us. His honesty and integrity were so refreshing that I was a little shell shocked initially, and so impressed I decided to go for a new roof anyway. The quote was right on the money, as well! They were about a month out but they arrived this week with a crew of 8. So organized! I have a pretty big roof with a few gables, but they got the entire job done from 7 am to 5:45 pm, working the cleanup in the dark. Foreman, Lito, was very helpful and made sure I was happy every step of the way. In my opinion, this is a company that should be patronized for your roofing needs!"

"I had them to redo my whole roof 1.5 year ago and I found a piece of shingle fell off recently. I contacted the owner and they stood behind their work and promise. He quickly scheduled a follow-up and sent his team to fix it in a short period of time. In these days you can easily find any contractors do the work and work away with your money. However once the job is done, you will never see them again when there are any issues. This will not happen to Hi Tech Contracting as they are professional, responsible and trustworthy. Highly recommended!"

"Atticrawl was the best possible contractor I could have found for this job. They came same-day to assess the job and prepare an estimate, gave me their best price, then 3 days later on the day before Thanksgiving, they reduced it by another $1,000 ("Black Friday Special"!). Then a truck with four professional installers and all necessary supplies came at 8:45AM the next day on Thanksgiving and by 2:00PM my entire attic was completely and perfectly insulated. Bonus: before they started, the installers did an impeccable job covering the necessary areas of my home in plastic sheeting, and after they left everything was perfectly clean and there was no evidence that they had even been there. --- Benjamin, Ryan, Andres, and the entire team at Atticrawl were professional, efficient, quick, and just completely perfect - I could not be more satisfied. THANKS!!"

"We found USA Roof Masters on a well-known home improvement site. The company's crew under site supervisor Al did a professional job of installing a new roof, gutters/downspouts and fascia repair/capping at a competitive price. At the outset, this certified Owens-Corning contractor offered top-of-the-line materials such as synthetic underlayment secured by plastic-capped nails, and high-definition shingles. There was no extra charge for a "Platinum" lifetime warranty that covers both materials and workmanship. The workmanship portion of the warranty extends to 25 years, far longer than the workmanship warranty offered by other contractors. Site supervisor Al took care to ensure that bad decking and fascia wood discovered in the tear-off of old roofing was removed and replaced. Al and Roof Masters executive Tom Kovack also went the extra mile to answer our questions and address our concerns. Tom even agreed to paint the replacement fascia wood with primer/sealer at no additional labor cost. We are very pleased with the work and we have received many compliments from neighbors on look of the new roof and gutters. We look forward to many years of service and protection from the elements."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Highland Park, NJ

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
