"This is the second time I used Shalom Home Solutions for a painting job, after they did a good job on my rental. This job involves a four bedroom single family house with a finished basement, totaling 5166 sqft. The painting includes all interior surface and baseboards, with minor drywall repair and caulking. Amilcar and his crew did a very good job. They arrived early everyday around 7 a.m. and leave around 4 p.m. The cherry hardwood floors were covered with drop cloth and the railings were covered with plastic sheets. Some elaborate window treatment had to be taken down and put back. The house was cleaned up after the job was done. There was no damage in the process. It was completed on time. Amilcar was very communicative throughout the process, responding to my text message and email quickly. The only minor negative is when he brought in a few newer painters one day and their work was a bit rushed (not taping up the cherry shoe molding). Overall, I'm very happy with the quality of the work."

"I have had Robert and his team in here before and they did a great job. So when I had another painting need, I called them first. The team leader, Lloyd, did a great job. His attention to detail and concern for getting it right was laudable. I loved his way of excitedly telling me all he had to do to get around problems. He cared about quality. He also did a lovely job on the 2 spots in another bedroom which were not even part of the project. I have had so people do work here recently and I have to point out all the problems. Then I find more problems after they leave. It was gratifying to have someone get it all right the first time."

"George and his crew did an outstanding job! They were prompt, courteous, professional and really seemed to enjoy their work. George came to meet with us to estimate the work and provided us a quote within 1 business day. From estimate to completion, the team completed the job in 5 business days.
After day 1 we didn't like one of the colors we had chosen after seeing it on the walls. We talked with George about it and he was very accommodating, and just wanted to make sure we would be happy with the final results. This was a big change, but George only charged us for the cost of replacing the paint.

"I hired this company due to time constraints with another job I was working. If you want them to paint simple projects in investment properties, they will do the job. Painting quality was average. Got some paint on trim in several areas. Speed of painting is below average. Took 8 hours to paint 2 coats on walls only in one small bathroom (6 x 6 x 8), one bedroom (12 x 12 x 10) and one living room (18 x 12 x 8). Trim nor bathroom / bedroom ceilings were touched. Being a painter myself, it should have taken maximum of 2 hours per coat per room for walls only or a max total of 12 hours. Leaving 4 hours for painting the trim and ceilings. "Quick summary: We could not be happier with the level of service, quality, and professionalism we received from Mackay. We have already recommended them to friends and would wholeheartedly encourage anyone who needs their roof repaired or replaced to retain Mackay. They exceeded all of our expectations.
The gory details: We recently moved into our new home in DC, knowing that the roof on our 1920's rowhouse had the original tin roof that had been poorly maintained. After a moderate rainstorm caused some minor leaking in our second floor ceiling, we realized we couldn't delay the roof project any longer. While we received a few different estimates, Bill Jr. was able to come out the very next morning and actually talked us out of a few of the more expensive fixes as being unnecessary, saving us about $2,500 in the process. Even before we hired him, he also took an extra 20 minutes out of his day and, expertly employing some duct tape and trash bags, MacGyver'ed part of the roof covering that had been missed by the emergency repairman we retained to cover the roof with a tarp. He explained everything clearly and helped us understand why a total roof replacement really was necessary and why a repair would be insufficient. 
If we had picked on convenience and price alone, it would have been an easy choice. They started work the next day which was an unbelievable turnaround from estimate to work, since  most other companies couldn't start work earlier than two weeks out. Their estimate was $1,500 cheaper than the next closest estimate. Not only that, but they included the cost of any roof wood/beam replacements in their estimate, while other roofers gave us conditional pricing estimates and most would not guarantee a total job cost. Not only that, but they finished the whole job--a total roof replacement, including gutters, mansard, some rotted wood (included in the price!), and two skylights--in a single day. The quality of work was top-notch, the new roof looks great, and we have had zero leaks or any other problems, even in crazy downpours.
They weren't just cheaper and faster. Bill Jr and Ben are great guys, they will give you their honest opinion, and they throw in a rocking Canadian accent for free. They did everything they promised and exceeded our expectations in every way. We recommend them unequivocally.

"FDC Painting worked with us to ensure that they understood our needs (two in home visits to make sure they had it right). They scheduled us promptly after signing the contract. The team showed up on time and quickly worked through the project. They moved furniture and ensured the floors and furnishings were covered and well protected. Once walls were stripped and repaired, they used quality Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams paints. The house was kept clean and tidy. After the job was completed the owner of FDC followed up to make sure we were happy with his work and to ensure there was nothing else required from him or his team.
