"Adam and his work crew were excellent. We had a small home roof project that required the old shingles, underlayment and metal stripped from the roof and replaced. The total job required 22 squares of shingles. Adam and his crew, stripped the old roofing and replaced it with new D-metal, ice shield, felt and shingles in 1 day. They also installed 10 new roof vents, 8 new boot jacks, new valley metal and installed gutters. All in one day! They did a great job of cleanup after the job, not a nail or piece of shingle found in the month since the job was completed. I was totally impressed by the completed job and the product provided. I cannot say enough about the job they did and the speed in which it was completed. I will recommend Adam to everyone whom asks for a roofer. Best roofing contractor I have ever seen."

"They came and looked at it same day, gave me a free estimate, promised a return date, were punctual on the second visit, not only did they replace my shingle but also re-sealed/nailed a set of shingles next to the wall where the problem occurred. Good sevice, thourough. Pricey but you get what you pay for. I would call them again, no question."

"Amazingly well. Quality material and workmanship. Professional employees and a job well done. They completed all details such as cleaning and maintenance of gutters. They painted the vents on the roof to match the color of my roof. I am pleased to be able to recommend their work and performance."

"The company representative, Kent Shannon, was forthright with us during the preliminary discussions/negotiations and throughout the replacement of our entire fascia, soffit, gutters, and one window. He knows his products well and explained them very well. We like to think about spending our hard earned money and he was willing to give us plenty of time to mull over our options with other products and contractors. The work was completed quickly but not rushed. Workers showed up reliably on time and were always willing to answer questions. And of most importance, the quality of the work was outstanding. I would definitely contract with HBSI and Kent Shannon again."

"I contacted 4 top rated roofers from Angie's List. The estimates were all close (with in $1000 of each other) so the difference was in the details. Further conversations with each vendor lead me to discount their proposals. One vendor would not sheet the attic space to collect the dirt and debris that would fall through the skip sheeting with out payment of $5000 more. One vendor offered to place hidden valleys-no metal in the valley -just shingles. One vendor offered metal valleys but only for a higher grade shingles. Rain Proof owner, Paul Sulik, and I discussed his proposal and I was able to negotiate a small decrease in the bid. We spent time going over the color of the shingles to match the house as well as the various grades of asphalt shingles. I have installed many wooden shingle roofs and asked questions that didn't surprise Paul but few clients asked such questions. <br /> Paul was on the job every day and usually with his son and a crew of 7-8 during tear off and with just a few men to finish the work. Paul is meticulous. His crew is meticulous and the work is perfect. There was a minor follow up that was handled promptly by Paul himself. <br /> This was an excellent experience. Paul is a very upright guy. Forthright and honest. He cuts no corners and spends time thinking through problems such as a portion of our roof with a large flat collection area in it. His warranty goes longer than that of the shingles. It is a warranty that is as good as we own out home. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Homedale, ID

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
