"Met the owner, Mr. Michael Chu at the January 2013 BIA Show and was impressed by the company culture of professionalism and dedication to their industry. After contacting MRC, estimator arrived the next day and promptly at the arranged time. He provided us with an verbal estimate and delivered a written estimate the next day. The work was scheduled for the following week. The work crews arrived as scheduled. Day one crew powered washed, cleaned, repaired, prepared the roof for the new coating and applied the first coat of Gaco S-20. Rain did hamper the process but luckily it was not heavy and constant rain, the crew was able to complete their assigned work. Day two crew removed , replaced the existing skylights, installed the two new solar powered roof fans, sealed the new fan vents with the roofing sealant and applied the second coat of Gaco S-20. Day three crew finished up the final coating on the lower lanai and even sealed an older rain gutter from leaking! Each crew leader and his crew were very professional, courteous and clean. <br /> MRC has a cooperative working relationship with the solar power vender to coordinate the install of PV panel roof mount brackets and anchors the newly sealed roof. <br /> Overall very pleasant experience, would business with MRC again! Highly recommend MRC <br />"

"We had experienced two areas that had water leak issues during a heavy rain so we alerted them to those spots in particular. The crew was very good and Edgar (the foreman) was excellent to work with and dealt with any issues that came up. We did have to call them back for 2 items...there was a leak in one of the same spots as before from a heavy rain soon after the roofing job was completed. It happened on a Sunday and they immediately came out that day and figured out what the cause was and repaired it. Although we have not had a heavy rain since to test it, we do believe they found where the problem was and resolved it. The other follow-up item was at a skylight on a flat roof area that would leak at times during a heavy rain and they installed a diverter to push the water away from the area and off the roof. We are pleased with the job and the timely response from Aloha Roofing and would definitely recommend using them."

"Sean and his foreman Chris did a great job of repairing all of the dry rot on my home (approximately 200 linear feet), priming the new lumber, caulking and sparkling all of the work, pressure washing the house, and repainting the house and gates. Sean also replaced my bathroom light fixture, repaired one of our outdoor faucets, removed all of our raingutters, and filled the gutter downspout holes in the sidewalk with concrete. Sean was able to contact a roofer to take up and replace the shingles that needed to be removed to do the repair work as well as a company to replace the gutters. The whole project took about 3 weeks. Thank you Sean and Chris--the house looks great!"

"I contacted John, the foreman, as they were reroofing a neighbor's house. He measured our roof and we discussed how theywould reroof our home and, latter that day, I received a bid by email from Tim, the contractor. After some easy clarifications of the bid and the addition of a refund clause if new copper flashing was not necessary, I approved the bid and Tim scheduled work to begin about a week latter. The crew began work on the scheduled day and had the existing solar hot water panels carefully removed by Halekala Solar. They used tarps to catch dirt and rubble around the house and also carefully covered any exposures with tarps during occasional sprinkles. They blocked only half of my driveway while working and removed their debris trailer each day.John worked with me to install fixtures for future solar photovoltaic panels and their flashings (provided by me).The jobtook just over a week due to some light showers and the result is well done and beautiful. <br /> They handed my metal chimmney pieces down to me and, after I primed and painted them, reinstalled them on the roof. <br /> The solar hot water panels were correctly reinstalled. <br /> Thier final cleanup was not as complete and careful as their roofing work, I had to move a few fixtures back into place on our deck and pick up a bit of debris. They also forgot an electric saw and some nail belfts that they picked up a few days latter. <br /> I delayed a few years to replace our roof since I was unable to find a recommeded roofer through friends. Seeing how well this crew did the work on my neighbor's house and how pleased my picky neighbor was with the result sold me. <br />"

"Called to repair roof when it leaked. It took a week of constant calling before Mike came to access the problem. Roof was patched 1/21/11. It leaked again during next rainfall(2/6/11),Called Jody 2/7/11. Leak patched on 2/25/11. It leaked again on 2/27/11. I called again to inform of leak. Work was scheduled for 3/8/11. No one showed up at appointed time. I called to find out that the workman was sick for the day. No one called to inform me. Another repairman was sent and the leak was finally addressed. FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Honolulu, HI

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
