"Litespeed Construction took superb care of me when I needed a new roof due to multiple leaks after a storm. Kirby helped walk me through the insurance claims process, including filing for a re-inspection to get the insurance company to pay for the full amount of the roof. They were in and out in 2 days including replacing new boards under the roof and putting on new gutters and downspouts. I'm very happy with the finished product and the new roof looks beautiful."

"I called on Monday for a free estimate and was told that it would be Friday before anyone could provide one. That wasn't a problem since both leaks were minor and no rain was predicted. I called back on Friday morning and was told that I was on the list and Joe would call ahead. A short time later he called and arrived when he said he would. There was some confusion initially because he thought I'd called for an estimate for roof replacement instead of repairs. I showed him the problem areas, he gave me the price, was willing to warrant his work, and said he could do it while onsite. He worked safely, using a safety harness and lanyard while on the steeper parts of the roof. The repairs did not take long, but Joe took his time explaining what the problems were and what needed to be done, and even took a few minutes to do some things that were not in the original scope of work. It was apparent that he knew what he was doing after 30 years of experience. He and Mike were personable, polite, and professional, and told me to call if I had any problems. As of this review, about 90% of the reviews shown on Angie's List are excellent, which is the reason I called him. Since we're fairly new to the area, it's good to know that we have someone local to rely on for roofing repairs/replacement."

"Just wanted to recommend Matt at Roof Roof for anyone who may be in need. We have a leak in our master bedroom that needs repair. We have had the roof replaced and several other companies try to solve the problem. Matt Cheney, with Roof, Roof roofing came out and took his time evaluating the situation — looking in the attic, opening a window to get soaked in the rain to examine the exterior hardy board, etc.)! And he was honest, too! His ultimate recommendation meant that his company would not make any money from our job — as the window located upstairs (just above a bay window) seems to be the problem. I am so thankful for honest, hard-working people. This will now be our go-to roofing company from now on, and I we so thankful to know Matt!"

"In addition to the expected caulking and inspection, provider supplied pictures of the roof and blew leaves off of it.  Service was prompt - the day after I called for an appointment.  He suggested re-shingling the roof in about a year and offered to send an estimate for shingle replacement but was not pushy.  He was very cordial. <br />"

"I found Stanley Honeycutt to be  honest and forthcoming throughout the process of having  the new roof put on, from the first day when he came to do the estimate and throughout the actual work in progress.  He and his men were prompt and efficient and he kept me apprised of what was going on so there were no sudden surprises.  They cleaned up so thoroughly when they were done that I couldn't even tell that they'd been here.  It was a very satisfactory experience and I would recommend them to anyone needing roofing work.  The price may seem steep to some, but I had several estimates and they were all in same ball park, even a little higher.   I have a large, older ranch house with a quite a bit of roof area, and also the price included the removal of two layers of old tiles, and the roof over a large porch had significant damage to the wood under the tiles from all of the heavy rain we have had this year.  I am very pleased with the work they did. <br />"

"The process went better than expected mainly do to expertise, including the crew, timeliness, and communication before during and after the installation. Steve listened to expectations and roofing issues then came onsite to examine the roofing and construction. It became obvious that he was an expert in all things about metal roofing which is important I found out researching that many metal roofing installs, including my older metal roof can be installed incorrectly allowing for long term recurring leaks, critter (bats) access and wind damage. Use an expert specializing in metal roofing! Based on my needs and the assessment he provided two options of high quality products with detailed materials and labor the day after he was onsite. Pictures of the progress and issues like water damaged wood were sent as they developed. He communicated his schedule and changes in a timely manner. Overall, Mad Roofer has been the best and most reliable contractor I have worked with in years."

"Darrell and his co-workers came highly recommended. It only took them a week to build an amazing deck with exactly what I wanted. These guys are professional, understanding of what you want, and do one **** of a job. I would highly recommend Darrell and his crew to build anything. They even took out a double window and installed a French door which looks beautiful!!"

"Craig called me quickly after my request for service and was out at my house within 3 hours to address the hole I found in my roof. He repaired the hole then gave a great quote on a new metal roof at my request. Definitely recommend."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Hendersonville, NC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
