"Technician showed up and assessed my issue. It was deemed not as bad as I thought and a gasket replacement would probably fix the issue. The tech recommended that I give it a try to replace myself which I am willing and able to do. He said he would gladly do it if I needed help or for him to take over."

"I wasn't happy with them. He fixed the refrigerator and called me and said that probably once he fixes the refrigerator, the ice maker will be fixed too. When I called them on it, they said, 'We'll come out and see that may be it and not the whole thing.' It was a day before I was going in to surgery. Then I was in surgery and then rehab for a couple of weeks. I wasn't pleased with their answer but at that point I couldn't do anything about it because I was going in to surgery. I didn't pursue it after I got back. They said that probably, it would cost additional fees. I said well, you were just out here and I just gave you all that money and I would expect that the ice maker is part of the freezer. I didn't pursue it after that. The freezer was fixed but not the ice maker in the freezer that wasn't making ice. I just left it that way. I got a tray and made ice cubes that way. I had to throw out all my food. It wasn't a very fabulous experience."

"Jaron is very friendly and professional as well as experienced and knowledgeable in a broad spectrum of appliance service. We called him at about 8 a.m. on a Monday morning and he was at our door by 10 a.m. He repaired our dryer quickly, had the needed part on his truck and then went the extra mile to clean under, around and behind the dryer. Before he left, he also checked outside to be sure the vent was clear. His charge for the repair was very reasonable and we will definitely use him in the future. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of any type of appliance repair."

"Handy Randy took on the job when Lowe's and Home Depot contractors didn't want to take on the job because it was going to be more work than a typical door installation."

"The installation was fine but with a $39 service call and $100 off coupon, we did not expect the work to cost nearly this much.  I could have gone elsewhere for less.  They were professional and efficient, just too expensive.

"We experienced everything from original person who was to do our job walking off the job, to elimination of 50% of work we wanted done.  The person who signed us up for the work, which is the same person who was to do the work, promised us via contract that the company could do all the work and there would be a work crew available in the following week.  The original person that eventually walked off the job, would tell us he was going to be here at a certain time, then he did not show up until hours later.   After that, we had a difficult time even getting someone to show up to do the work.  When someone (two guys) did arrive, they were evidently pulled off other jobs, to finish our projects.  One of the guys was overheard to say, that he had to correct C's mistake (meaning the one window), that had siding damage, from removing the old window, and was the workman that had abandoned our project.  Anyway, the two windows have been a nightmare, as it was suggested by the contractor that a 3 inch trim board be placed around the two windows being replaced, to compensate for the siding damage that occurred next to the one window.  We agreed, as it seemed to be okay at the time.  One of the windows had a large 1" hole that went from the inside of house to the outside, and a large 1" hole in the siiding at the top of this same window.  The homeowner (myself) had to quickly put some in the hole that went all the way through, as ants were coming in, and used excess foam, even though interior foam only to fill in the hole on the outside above this window.  Since then, we have noticed a leak very near where one of the holes was patched.  Several times it was mentioned to the contractor about these holes, but nothing was ever done to permanently patch these holes.  Upon closer inspection of the windows, it was observed that the J channel, instead of sitting right next to the windows, was placed around the trim, which now surrounds the windows.  It was also observed that a screw sits in the J channel on one side, and because the windows, along with the J Channel extend out further than they should, we presume, so the window meets the surrounding trim.  Anyway, according to window install instructions, there isn't any circumstance where the J Channel is now sitting right next to the window.  We asked that we get a 2d opinion about this window install, before we made our final payment, just to be assured that everything was done okay.  This contractor rebelled and demanded immediate payment, even though 30 days had not passed.  We were even accused of being responsible for the added trim, since we agreed to it, and any associated problems associated with it.  We paid, but with a bitter taste in our mouth.

FAQs for appliance (smaller size) installation and replacement projects in Independence, MO

Garbage disposals last around 10 years when properly maintained. If your unit is getting close to that age or repair costs are increasing, it might be time to consider a replacement. Regular maintenance and careful use can help maximize your garbage disposal's performance and help it reach its maximum lifespan.

There are several signs to watch for that indicate your garbage disposal needs to be replaced. Replacement may be necessary if it doesn't work even though it's properly connected, the blades are worn and causing delays in operation, a persistent foul odor that won't go away, or leaks coming from the bottom due to a compromised seal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it might be time to consider getting a new garbage disposal to keep your kitchen running smoothly.

A plumber or handyperson can install your garbage disposal if the electrical connections are already in place. If you need additional electrical work, you'll also need to hire a qualified electrician to handle the rest of the job. Hiring local professionals ensures the installation is safe and up to code.

It’s important to avoid putting certain items down the drain to keep your garbage disposal running smoothly and avoid clogs. Expandable foods like pasta, rice, oatmeal, and bread can swell and cause blockages. Coffee grounds, grease, fats, and oils can accumulate and create clogs. Hard items such as meat bones, nuts, and fruit pits can damage the disposal blades. Eggshells, potato peels, and fibrous vegetables such as celery, pumpkin, corn husks, artichokes, onion skins, and asparagus can wrap around the blades or obstruct the pipes.

Not every sink is suitable for the installation of a garbage disposal. The compatibility of the sink with the disposal depends on the material and structural integrity. While many standard sinks support these units, fireclay sinks are prone to cracking under the added stress and should not be used. Confirm that your sink can securely accommodate the disposal before installation.

Choosing the correct size garbage disposal depends on your household size and how much waste you produce. A 1/3–1/2 horsepower unit should be sufficient for households with one to two people. If your household consists of three to six people, a 1/2–3/4 horsepower unit is recommended. FA3/4–1 horsepower model will be necessary. For larger households of five to eight people
