"It went great, she was on time, and she did a great job. Separated some stuff for me and left piles for me to go through of paperwork, vacuumed, dusted, etc. She did a phenomenal job. A+++"

"Wow! Hire this man. I had talked to Reginald several months ago and got a quote for some furniture assembly. Frankly, the quote i thought was a little high so told him I would find someone else. I did find someone that said he would do it. The other guy was a no call no show the morning of appointment. I had wanted to surprise my sons with bunk beds when they boys got back from a weekened trip and was soooo disappointed the other guy didn't show . I reached out to Simply Handy and told him what had happened. He showed up the next day and said he wouldn't leave until it was finished and I would be able to surprise the boys. A man of his word. One of the bunk beds was poorly made and he even fixed it so it would be more safe for my son. What a gem. Hire this man. His pricing wasn't as expensive as I once thought. And you get what you pay for!! Thanks again for all the help!"

FAQs for central vacuum service projects in Indianapolis, IN

Central vacuum systems have one large power unit, usually in the basement, containing the suction motor and the waste collection tank. Tubing runs from the power unit to outlets placed at strategic points throughout the home.

Homeowners attach a hose, handle, and brush arrangement to the outlet in the room they want to vacuum. The dust, debris, hair, and allergens get sucked up, travel through the tubing, and then deposited in the waste collection tank.

With routine filter changes and occasional part replacements, a quality central vacuum lasts well over 20 years. Empty the canister, clean or replace filters, and check the tubing regularly to keep the motor running smoothly. Because most components are serviceable, you can swap out a worn hose or filter without replacing the entire unit, so the core system often stays in service for decades.

Whether a central vacuum is worth the cost depends on your priorities. These systems offer strong, consistent suction, vent dust outside the living space, and run more quietly than upright vacuums. Upfront installation costs are higher than a portable model, but many homeowners appreciate the convenience of carrying only a hose from room to room. Compare the added performance and indoor air benefits with your budget and cleaning habits to determine if the investment is worthwhile.

Central vacuum systems are designed as a permanent installation and are not overall portable. Only the cleaning hose and its attachments are movable to enable effective cleaning in different areas of the home. The system’s main power unit remains stationary in one location to provide consistent suction. This design ensures a dedicated and efficient cleaning process without the inconvenience of moving an entire appliance from one room to another.

Central vacuum installation does not require any extensive drywall demolition. Skilled professionals create precise openings solely for mounting the vacuum outlets. This process preserves the wall’s integrity and minimizes any visible disruption to your living spaces. The installation maintains a clean, finished appearance while securely integrating the tubing and outlets into the structure.

A professional check-up every few years can help keep a central vacuum running at full suction. During a service visit, the technician inspects the motor, filters, and tubing for clogs or wear and replaces parts as needed. Call sooner if you notice reduced suction, unusual noise, or burning odors. Between visits, empty the canister and clean or replace filters according to the manufacturer’s schedule to protect the system’s lifespan.
