"I have been a customer with AHS since 2006 in 2 states. I recently assisted my daughter with a new home purchase. AHS contracts with One way Electrical in that area. We had some electrical concerns. Doug was our service technician. He was knowledgeable and professional. We had a challenge after our visit and he immediately offered a solution that worked immediately."

"I had a great experience with Paul and his team. They were efficient in coming in and assessing the electrical issues after purchasing a home. They were great and explained everything, and the workmanship was top notch. Making sure that all the old GFIC outlets were working and wired up correctly and running line for a dehumidifier to its own circuit. I will be using them again in the future for any electrical work. It was a wonderful experience and managed correctly."

"Promptness, integrity, professionalism, value are all words that I would use to describe Mill Stream Electric and it's owner, Alex. They absolutely saved us from a terrible situation where we had an electrical short in the outside panel that caused serious damage. We were out of power in the middle of August. They showed up THE DAY I CALLED THEM! And had the service compeletly rebuilt (necessary given the damage) in TWO DAYS! It's not the first time we've used these superheros and it definitely won't be the last. Highest recommendation!"

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Irmo, SC

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
