"I contacted White Glove for a living room and hallway flooring job. We had our entire living room redone, including flooring, two years ago. That flooring installer did not prep the floor properly. As a result, the vinyl flooring cracked. I contacted Jason and he was out promptly to look at our job and listen to our concerns. Jason not only prepped the floor properly before installing the new floor, but also addressed a few other minor issues that we had to make sure that we were totally satisfied. A great experience! When we're ready to do our kitchen flooring, I know who I'm going to call!"

"I am happy to write this review of Mr. Contractor and my renovation experience with Ken Spector. For the project with Mr. Contractor I did the design and technical drawings (framing, electrical, HVAC, trim and final detail) for an upper story, 1350 sq. ft. renovation of a condo in a historic high rise in downtown Philadelphia. The initial building dates back to 1910 and the unit had undergone (at least) one major renovation without permit. Demolition for the condo was back to the brick and involved the removal of 40,000 lbs of material. The ceiling and part of the structural floor were replaced. All plumbing drain and supply lines were relocated and replaced back to the waste/vent stack, most interior walls were replaced, electrical was rewired back to a new distribution box. All floors, trim, doors, cabinets, fixtures, and appliances were replaced. The construction took 9 months. Per square foot, this type of renovation is arguably the most difficult one can undertake. The condo renovation project with Mr. Contractor was more challenging, for example, than the design and construction of my custom home. There are two main points I would make about my experience. The first is the level of customization that Mr. Contractor was able to provide and the second is the reliability. On the first point, there were multiple aspects to the design and construction that had either rarely, or never, been incorporated into a project in the more than 30 years of experience possessed by multiple craftsman working for Mr. Contractor. A couple of examples include the use of clipped outside wall corners and elliptical transom stained glass inserts above the doors. Mr. Contractor was able to address the structural metal stud framing of the clipped corners so that they provided as much strength as traditionally framed corners. The stained glass inserts required Mr. Contractor work with specialized customer materials and dimensions and incorporate these into the construction. There are many other examples from this project including illuminated wall niches, 6’ wide granite window sills, multipart dentil molding trim, arched ceilings, pilasters with plinth blocks, customer provided column wraps with marble inserts, a zero curb ADA transfer shower, a 5’ long linear floor drain, floor to 9’ ceiling kitchen cabinets, and replacing structural flooring in a historic high rise. With respect to reliability I can also mention two examples. First, Mr. Contractor is a medium size family business based in Philly for 4 generations. The challenges of the work required that Mr. Spector draw from multiple trades and the skill sets of various craftsman. He coordinated electrical, plumbing, HVAC, framing, drywall, paint, trim, appliances … everything. Whenever he needed to bring in new craftsmen or trade to the job site he was able to draw on the collective expertise of his employees at Mr. Contract and his depth of contacts across the trades in Philly to get the job done. My final point addresses the obvious for a job like this; building code compliance and structural issues due to the 100+ year age of the building. Ken Spector took the responsibility to work with HOA / management to ensure the job was completed. He was able to work through the challenges to obtain compliance for waste/vent stacks, ceiling structure, mechanical exhaust, and the failure of a structural floor between I-Beam spans on our upper floor in the high-rise. All of the work done my Mr. Contractor was permitted with the city and inspected to meet code. I consider myself very fortunate to have in Mr. Contractor the level of integrity to stick with a job, keep it on target in the face of obstacles that would turn most into vapor If you have job in Philly, no matter how challenging, how old/historic the building, or how much customization you want, give Mr. Contractor a call to get the work done. Overall Grade of A! PS: Pictures are examples of scope of work for this job: plans, demolition, framing, plumbing, tile, and a few shots of finish product,"

Michael & Son is family owned & operated and has been servicing the Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC area for over 30 years. We take great pride in providing our customers with the highest quality plumbing services. Our professional and courteous staff are here to help you with whatever projects you need to get done.
"Was it the worst experience...? Was it the best experience...? Neither. Yes, I have hot water. Yes, the piping looks great for the tankless hot water. But, they had to come back a 2nd time to fill in the hole. See pictures. Yes, I was taken advantage of. I paid way too much. The final bill matched the estimate but in retrospect it was too much. Customer service simply stopped once I started challenging the work that was done. I have a large pipe sticking out of my condo that is unsightly. After I asked to have it corrected I was ignored. I would not recommend this company."

Both materials work well, so start by thinking about foot traffic and budget. Porcelain is denser and absorbs less water, so it’s ideal for busy entries, kitchens, and baths—even if it costs a little more.
Ceramic is lighter, easier to cut, and comes in a wider range of styles, making it a solid pick for walls or light-use floors. Match the tile’s durability rating to the space, and you’ll get the best balance of looks, performance, and price.
A solid subfloor starts with a flat, crack-free surface. Your installer will level any low spots, reinforce weak areas, and screw down fiber-cement backer board or quality plywood before setting tile.
Skipping this step invites movement, cracked grout, and even water damage—issues that are far pricier than prep work. Hire a pro to get the base right, and your new tile will look sharp and stay put for years.
Give the thin-set 24 to 48 hours to cure before you start grouting. Rushing the process can nudge tiles out of place, weaken the bond, and create cracks you’ll have to fix later. Keep foot traffic off the area until you’re ready to grout, and you’ll lock in a strong, even finish that lasts.
Tile size changes the workload. Large-format pieces mean fewer grout lines and faster coverage, but they’re heavier and need careful handling to avoid breakage and lippage. Small mosaics create intricate looks yet take more time to set and space correctly, so labor costs climb. Weigh your style goals against the extra effort (and budget) each option requires before you decide.
You can leave tiles ungrouted for a short window, but only if the surface stays clean and undisturbed. Once the thin-set cures, finish the job as soon as possible. Grout seals joints against moisture and locks the layout in place; waiting too long invites dirt, water, and movement that can shorten the life of your new surface.
Use at least two millimeter spacers on walls and three millimeter spacers on floors to give grout room to bond and absorb normal expansion. Larger, rustic tiles may call for wider joints, while precision-cut porcelain often looks best with tighter gaps. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines and local code, and you’ll end up with an even, long-lasting layout.
