"Phil and his team were awesome! I'm going to get as detailed as to why as I can within the character limit, but I really could go on and on. Skip to the bottom if you're more interested in the TL:DR version. Our original job consisted of tiling the master bath, the kitchen, the dining area, and the downstairs half bath (about 450 sqft total). We also needed some baseboard and carpet work (the carpet is the only thing we didnt do). In the beginning, the job was between Phil and another contractor. I was with them when they went through the house and did their estimates. Phil was much more detailed in making sure he got more accurate numbers than the other guy, which saved about 30sqft between the estimates. Phil's rate was also a whole lot less than the other guy. Originally we were going to go with the more expensive guy because he also had a carpet guy (and we needed carpet repair too), but as the start date approached, it became apparent we should go with Phil. We called Phil on Monday, and his guys were at our house to begin working on the job on Tuesday. Roy was the first of the crew at our house to work on the job. He was doing prep work and hardibacker laying for the tile work upstairs. It was a fairly sizable area so we weren't sure if he was going to be able to get to any of the other areas of the house on day 1. But, he was able to. He was able to cut and lay hardibacker in the Master bath, and he was also able to lay tile in one of the smaller bathrooms on the first day. On day 2, Roy got some help, and they were able to lay tile in the Master, the kitchen and the dining room, as well as grout and put in the gear to replace the toilet in the downstairs bathroom. Phil would come in every day to check on the progress of the job, and on the second day, we started discussing other things we wanted tiled. The upstairs bathroom and the laundry room were on our long term to do list, but were not a priority at this time. However, since I bought the tile, and I bought a lot of buffer (the tile was on clearance and we were thinking about doing a different cut originally that wouldnt work with the tile we got) we had a lot of extra tile for the job. So Phil told us that we could do both the laundry and the bathroom, and he would give us a discount because his crew was already there. We agreed, and the third day they completed grouting for kitchen and dining, and master bath. They replaced the toilets in the downstairs and Master (not included in the estimate, and they didn't charge for it). They also were able to demo and lay tile in the upstairs bath and laundry room on day 3, and really got a lot done. At the end of that day, we discussed with Phil a small tiled entry pad that had come with the house and was a different tile. We also discussed baseboards. Phil said he would give us a really good deal for both that pad and baseboard installation (about 140 linear feet of installation, I bought the mats). We agreed, and they tore up the old tile in about 15 minutes at the end of the day. The next day they were able to complete everything, prep, laying tile and grout and baseboards as well as replace toilets byt the end of the day. The quality of work was outstanding, and they were very helpful in design decisions and making sure the job would look good. My wife even made Roy replace a tile when he was several rows away because there were two of the same tile next to each other, which he did without complaint. We are very happy with the quality of the work, and the price. TL:DR. Phil was able to start work the next day, his crew was very quick, professional and helpful, and they were able to do a lot more than the original job in 4 days. He didn't charge for toilet replacement, and gave us a great deal, allowing us to do all three baths, kit, dining, baseboard for less than the other guy's estimate for only kit..."

Ideas & Inspiration from Sacramento Tile Contractors

Sacramento Ceramic Tile

The ranks of home improvement materials that have come and gone are many; however, there are some materials that have stood the test of time and are just as practical and well liked today as they were years ago. In Sacramento, ceramic tile is just such a material. Though there are some who would prefer the look of plastic or fiberglass in their kitchen or bathroom, the look and feel of ceramic tile is alive and well in the Sacramento Valley. With its incredible resistance to moisture as well as heavy traffic and its uncommonly easy clean-up, tile is one material that is sure to be around for years to come.

Options for Ceramic Tile
There are so many sizes, shapes, colors, finishes, and textures of ceramic tile, Sacramento homeowners will have more than enough to choose from. Glossy ceramic tile is a favorite in kitchens and bathrooms, while hand-painted tile can provide an accent in living areas that is hard to match. Basically, for every setting, you're likely to find a type of tile that will be appropriate.

Floor Tile
In Sacramento, ceramic floor tile is one installation that can provide both beauty and function in many areas of the home. In entryways, floor tile will give you an easily cleaned area to take off your shoes and keep other areas free of dirt and debris. In kitchens and bathrooms in Sacramento, ceramic floor tile's moisture resistant nature makes it a perfect choice. You can even use textured floor tile to prevent slipping both indoors and on patios or porches!

Kitchens and Bathrooms
Though many areas of the home can benefit from the installation of ceramic tile, Sacramento's kitchens and bathrooms are probably the places where it is the most common. Shower walls, bathroom floors, kitchen counters, and backsplashes of all sorts are great places to install glossy, ceramic tile. Not only does it give a space a sense of history and authenticity, but its performance is comparable to much more expensive materials like natural stone. It is tough as nails and able to handle normal food preparation tasks with ease, but its slick surface is also a benefit when it comes time to clean up.

Installing Ceramic Tile
Tile installation is not exactly rocket science, and there are many resources available that will tell you exactly how to get professional results. However, just because the concepts behind tile installation are fairly simple and straightforward doesn't mean that it's going to be easy. For those do-it-yourselfers in Sacramento, installing ceramic tile can become more of a pain than you might initially expect. Tedious and time consuming (and often quite messy), this job is one that is often left to the pros.

Prices of Tile
One of the great things about ceramic tile is that, though it is extremely durable and attractive, in many cases it is not an incredibly expensive material. Though you can certainly go out and find hand-painted, one-of-a-kind tiles that will cost a bundle, you can also find very reasonably priced ceramic tile. Sacramento homeowners should expect tile installations to range anywhere from $500 for small jobs to $5,000 for large, involved projects (the average cost of tile installation is about $2,000). Tile repair is generally pretty inexpensive (often less than $200), but remember, if you are installing new tile, it's always a good idea to purchase a few extra so you'll have some that match if repairs ever become necessary.
