"Good install but they never came back to remove thrash and never sent me any manuals or information on the unit. They said they would be back to pick up debris and drop off a user manual but did nit come back. I finally cleaned up the mess but still do not have a manual. System seems to be working well."

"
My wife and I recently bought a 113yr old Victorian home in the historic district of Brunswick. We knew that the home needed to be restored and that it had never had a whole-home heating and cooling system (had some space heaters and window air conditioners). So, having HAVC installed was one of our first priorities. After receiving several quotes with unrealistic solutions and unbelievably high prices, I was fortunate enough to find Corbitt Heating and Air. From the first time Scott Corbitt came over to look at the project in order to build a quote, he was extremely professional, polite, and knowledgeable. Scott got back with me a few days later with a proposal, but we found it to be outside the budget we set for the project. Scott was very patient as he worked with us to develop a heating and cooling solution that would be most effective in a 113 yr old home with original windows and no insulation, while being mindful of our budget and not trying to over-sell a system. After a couple of phone calls, we were able to hit on the perfect combination of efficiency and price.

When the day came to begin the week-long installation, Scott and his boys showed up on time and were very courteous to my wife (she was there overseeing HVAC installation, new roof installation, and exterior painting). While my wife would call with reports of issues with the painting and roof installation, she consistently would call to report how thankful she was that Corbitt Heating and Air was doing the HVAC work (Scott and his crew were there to back my wife when she had issues with the roofing installation manager). We've learned to expect obstacles when doing anything on a 113yr old home, and this project was no exception. Scott's crew worked extremely hard getting the duct work in on the first floor. They had the added challenge of cutting through TWO layers of hardwood floor (the original 1900 planks and oak hardwoods that were probably installed 60 or 70 years ago). Still, they never quit and did things right the first time! For the first time since we bought the house, occupying the first floor didn't feel like and quot;campingand quot; anymore...but living!

Installing the mini-splits in the second floor bedrooms presented several challenges too! Still, Scott and his boys never gave up; they continued to develop creative solutions to resolve the issues this old house put in front of them. Scott literally went out of his way by driving to Jacksonville to get a part that the supplier did not ship with the rest of the mini-split system.

Scott and his crew took the most difficult project we've contracted and made it the most successful and pleasant experience we've had thus far! This company is founded on 30 years of knowledge and a high moral standard! Scott went way above and beyond our expectations to provide us with a comfortable home. Corbitt Heating and Air will be our HVAC company for life!!! If you need ANY type of HVAC installation or repair done, call Scott and Tina Corbitt first!!!!

"

"Knowledgeable, professional. 2-story house built in 1948--the existing HVAC system was hodge-podged together with the air handler under the house, on its back, and ductwork was run up through closets. Even though regular maintenance was performed, the old, inefficient system was literally pushing dirt and grime through the house and some piece/part replacement was required each season. Canady's devised a new, more efficient layout, locating the handler in the attic to push cold air down. The job took 2 days because of the old duct work rip out, and rerouting electricity through very narrow eaves. But, the crew was clean (put drop cloths down both upstairs and down), considerate with my walls and hardwood floors, and kept me informed on each stage the whole time. The system works perfectly, and I've regained some closet space...absolutely recommend this company."

"I emailed AdvantaClean yesterday for a price quote to clean the air return of our HVAC system. Steve Rossman promptly emailed me back with a quote of $150, plus they would throw in a dryer vent cleaning. He told me they would be in the area the next day, so we set the appointment up between 1:00 and 3:00. When I asked him if he would honor the Angie's list 5% coupon, he replied he would go one better and adjusted the total to $140.
They called this morning at 10:30 and said they would be here at 11:00. Their team of four arrived at 11:00. Kicker explained to me what was involved. They blew a sanitizer through the return duct in the home and explained that it would kill any mold in the duct. Before they started the cleaning process, they put a piece of cardboard in the outside part of the duct to prevent any dust or debris from getting into the air handler. The cleaning took about an hour. While the crew was cleaning the air return duct, Kicker cleaned out the dryer vent. I knew it was dirty, but I had no idea just how dirty it really was. I watched as he pulled out wads of lint and then blew out large amounts of dust and lint. He gave me several suggestions on how to lessen lint buildup and suggested we have the vent cleaned once a year. That seems more than reasonable to me. When they finished cleaning the air return then showed me the dust and dirt their vac had pulled. Again, I knew it was dirty, but had no idea just how dirty.
Each one explained everything he was doing, responded to my concerns, and was more than happy to answer all my questions. They were very professional, courteous, and respectful of me and our home. I will definitely use AdvantaClean in the future and will highly recommend them to anyone who asks.

12/10/2015: I am updating my review in light of some new developments. When we had a new HVAC system installed on 11/17, the installers told me our air handler return duct was very dirty and we should have it cleaned. They recommended two companies, one of which was AdvantaClean. We chose AdvantaClean because it had good reviews on Angie's List. My initial review (above) reflects our experience. We were well pleased and gave them a good review.

Over the weekend we had some problems with our HVAC system so the installers came out on Dec. 4th. They had decided to replace our air handler return and supply ducts with larger ones. When they removed the filter from the air handler they showed it to me. . The filter was full of debris and had a large clump of dust/lint on it. The installer told me it looked like they did not cover the filter when they cleaned the return vent. I told him they had specifically told me they did cover the filter. Since the filter was ruined, I emailed Steve at AdvantaClean, explained the situation and attached three photos of the filter. He promptly emailed me back saying they would either reimburse me for, or, replace the filter.

Later, when the HVAC techs pulled out the old ducts they told me the return duct was clean in some areas and very dirty in others. The consensus was that AdvantaClean had not done a very good job. I emailed Steve concerning the duct and suggested they check their equipment. Since we had had brand new ducts installed, we were OK, but the problem I see is that if we had not had problems with the HVAC we would have assumed our ducts were clean and would not have discovered the problem until it was time to change the filter six months to a year down the road. If there is a malfunction with their equipment, it could be months before people realized there was a problem.

I mentioned this in several emails to Steve. He emailed me several times concerning the replacement filter, but never acknowledged the cleaning issue. We arranged for them to bring the new filter over on Dec. 9th, so I figured we would discuss the issue then. When I brought it up, I was told that I was the only person who had ever had a problem and that I should have not emailed, but called them while my ducts were being installed so they could have come over. I agree, I should have done that, but there is a problem with their process and because of the nature of the job, there is no real way to check on it's thoroughness unless you were to dissemble your vents so you could actually look into them. Before they left, they told me they would check out their equipment. I really felt as though they were saying that to humor me and believed there were no problems with either their equipment or their process.

01/01/2016: We replaced our dryer vent so we had the opportunity to inspect the old one which AdvantaClean had cleaned when they did our HVAC return duct. The dryer vent was pretty clean, so if that was the only service performed, I would have given them all "A's".
I am also posting pictures of the return air vent filter which initiated my re-review of the company on Dec. 10th."

FAQs for air ducts & vents cleaning service projects in Jekyll Island, GA

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that air duct cleaning is not required unless visible issues such as mold buildup, rodent droppings, or excessive dust are present. When such conditions exist, cleaning becomes essential to protect indoor air quality and maintain HVAC efficiency. This approach minimizes potential health risks and extends the system’s life.

Air ducts must be cleaned every three to five years as required by NADCA to preserve system efficiency and indoor air quality. The EPA insists that cleaning is necessary only when significant issues such as mold, pest infestations, or heavy dust accumulation are evident. Annual inspections by a certified professional promptly address any emerging concerns.

The ideal seasons for air duct cleaning are spring and fall. Cleaning during these periods prepares your HVAC system for the demands of both winter heating and summer cooling. These seasons provide moderate weather conditions that enable efficient service completion while minimizing disruption, ensuring your system performs at its peak.

Professional air duct cleaning takes a fixed duration of two to five hours, depending on the home’s size and the complexity of the duct system. Smaller residences with standard ductwork complete the service in two hours, while larger homes with extensive ducts require up to five hours. Additional repairs may extend this duration.

To prepare for professional air duct cleaning, ensure all vents are unobstructed by moving nearby furniture and clearing pathways. Secure any pets in a safe area and confirm that your HVAC system units are easily accessible for technician inspection. Proper preparation contributes to a higher quality service outcome and prevents delays, allowing the cleaning process to proceed efficiently.
