"the work was incomplete and for over 4 weeks unable to reach either the office manager or the owner for a reply to finish the work not completed, having to pay out of pocket to fix thing that 360 contactor and design refused to fix, thing her subcontractor left undone."

Customers say: Quick response

"We recently completed a full kitchen renovation, and I cannot recommend Jay Hill Construction highly enough! From the very first consultation their professionalism stood out. They listened carefully to our ideas, offered thoughtful suggestions, and handled every detail with care. Their interior design guidance went far beyond what we expected. They helped us make design choices that not only look stunning but also make our kitchen so much more functional! The project was completed on time and within budget, with pricing that was transparent and fair. Throughout the process, they were reliable, communicative, and proactive in addressing questions or concerns. It?s rare to find a contractor who delivers such a high level of craftsmanship while also providing a true concierge-style design experience. We now have a kitchen that feels like the heart of our home, and it wouldn?t have been possible without their expertise and dedication. "

"We would give zero (0) stars if that was available. We were extremely frustrated and disappointed with Tyler Prowell/Prowell Construction and now appear to be out over $16,000.00. We hired Tyler Prowell/Prowell Construction for a backyard project and ran into numerous issues. We paid a partial deposit of over $27,000.00 in August 2022 for upfront costs and project materials and work started October 2022. A privacy fence was built, our backyard and patio were excavated, and a drain pipe was installed between October 2022 and January 2023. So after 15 months of limited to no progress, limited communication, and a variety of excuses; we had to terminate the contract in January 2024. Upon termination, Tyler Prowell/Prowell Construction stated via email that he would begin the process of returning the over $16,000.00 balance due for work that we paid to have done but he never completed. We have not received any of the remaining $16,000.00 to date. We have attempted numerous times to contact Tyler Prowell/Prowell Construction, along with our attorneys, but he has not responded to any form of communication. We now have to hire a different contractor to repair the damage to our backyard and complete the project."

FAQs for kitchen design service projects in Johns Island, SC

A professional kitchen designer is a specialist in planning and implementing the remodel of kitchen spaces. They'll help you pick materials and styles, give you a quote, render a model, and send the order to manufacturers and installers. You can think of them as creative project managers who will facilitate your kitchen project from start to finish.

No, a kitchen designer can't plan for structural remodeling since kitchen designers aren’t structural experts. Consult a pro for structural engineer fees and inquire about changes like removing a wall. Additionally, for changes to your kitchen's electrical, plumbing, or gas lines, you'll need to hire the appropriate professionals, like a licensed electrician or plumber near you.

A kitchen designer’s process includes the following:

  • Finding inspiration: They may ask for photos, feedback on material samples, and preferred fittings to understand your vision.

  • Using design tools: These include computer modeling software, 3D and high-resolution cameras for recording your space, color wheels, and sketches.

  • Considering appliances and fixtures: It’s important that each item is installed correctly, balances aesthetics and functionality, and is conveniently positioned in a kitchen work triangle.

  • Looking at the whole home: A designer will consider your home's age and style.

  • Writing up plans: After taking measurements, they create a plan based on your specifications.

It takes anywhere from 10 to 20 hours for a professional kitchen designer to come up with a fully fleshed-out plan for a mid-size kitchen. However, that time can increase if you ask for a complex, custom-designed plan. Ask your designer for a quote on both pricing and overall time frame before you start working together to ensure you're on the same page with expectations.

If you're doing an extensive kitchen renovation, hire a kitchen designer to manage the project and ensure things go smoothly for you. A major renovation may include new flooring, countertops, cabinets, lighting, and structural changes like knocking out a wall or upgrading the electrical, plumbing, or gas lines. If you're doing something more minor, like only replacing a sink or painting your cabinets, you can either pay for installation or DIY.
