"When a tenant came down with asthma shortly after moving into her new rental home a contractor’s assessment was the possibility of black mold buildup from a leaking bathroom pipe. Opening up the wall and area around the leak revealed the worst case scenario. Once black mold was discovered, research pointed the way to one of the few licensed professional mold remediation companies on Kauai. Owner Gabe Prieto quickly took charge. During this time Gabe set the landlord’s mind at ease by testing for moisture in the entire home to assure it was mold free. At the onset the tenant had to be displaced and an insurance claim was filed. Rather than hire a contractor for renovation, the landlord was relieved that Gabe’s company is also certified in restoration able to provide warrantees on his contractors’ work. It was reassuring that he had years of experience working with the landlord’s insurance adjuster. Together they worked out the invoice numbers qualifying the landlord for coverage.
