"Had couple issues, they left some nails on the ground and apparently on the roof that keeps coming off onto my patio in heavy rains. When it rained my skylight leaked, stained my ceiling. I called and they came right back out and fixed it in the rain. Didn't do anything with my stained ceiling though. Skylight is pretty nice."

"I wish I could give this company a better rating but I cannot do so in good conscience. The quality of the windows and installation is very good. The price was fantastic. The crew cleaned up after themselves.
I was not told until AFTER I had made the down payment on the windows that the company was scheduled at least 6 weeks out for installation. The explanation for the delay, which is that we were having an exceptionally wet summer, and they could not install in the rain was valid, it just would have been nice to be advised of the anticipated wait time in advance of the purchase.
The install actually happened 11 weeks after the initial payment was made. While circumstances beyond the company's control, like weather, are understandable, lack of communication is not. When I followed up to find out an approximate time for installation, there were long delays in response from Morningstar.
The first two times I got a slow and dismissive answer regarding my questions about an approximate install date, I accepted the response given by Melissa, which was that the rain had pushed their schedule further back, and that additionally, their Angie's List offer had resulted in a great deal of work. When the delays continued, it became clear that in addition to being a professional salesperson, Melissa is a professional excuse maker.
If your company gets behind due to high volume or other circumstances; the professional response is to hire more help if necessary to catch up. Clearly this is not a strategy this company employs. When I finally got an anticipated install date, first, the company from which Morningstar gets the windows allegedly did not have my order ready, which resulted in another delay. Really, I placed my order in June and the windows weren't ready in August? I believed it at first, but upon more reflection this seems highly unlikely. So we rescheduled.
We were first told to expect the installers at 8am. We were only advised of a time when we asked, an approximate time was not offered. Then we were told that we could expect the installers at around 10am. The installers didn't arrive until around 2pm. When we inquired where they install crew was at around 11am, Melissa responded that they were on their way, that they just had to get tools from another work site. When I complained to Melissa of the delay after the install, she showed me pics of the "tools" the crew had to retrieve prior to coming to my home. The "tools" included enormous scaffolding. If she knew they had to break down something so involved, which she clearly did know, she could have told me so that I could better plan my day, but clearly she chose to keep me in the dark. Additionally, mortar had to be added into a front window as a gap was left due to the difference in thickness of our previous window and the new window. We asked that the mortar be added before it rained again because rain could get behind the brick facade and cause damage to our home. Melissa said she would have someone add the mortar right away. Several days later and after two rains, someone came back and added the mortar.
Let me summarize by saying we are happy with the quality of the windows and installation. The crew was courteous. However, due to the lack of honest communication I would not work with this company again. Also, after the install I did some math and it became clear that the price I paid divided by the number of people on the crew working, the number of hours worked, cost of actual windows, and profit and overhead for Morningstar's owners; it was clear that there was not much money to go around. In the future I would gladly pay more for better service, which is my disposition in most purchases. I was also disappointed that the failure in communication set by ownership has trickled down to the crew. The crew abruptly left after working the last day of install without telling us they were leaving. Too bad for them because we had prepared a decent sized cash tip that they missed out on. I emphasize the challenges with this company are clearly at the owner/management level and not with the crew. I cannot recommend working with this company."

"They were very good about fixing the skylight and he got on the roof and seen some other issues with our other skylight and fixed it for free. He was all about making sure we didn't have any other problems. I would use them again for roofing or skylights."

"When I first looked at them and signed the contract all was fairly good on Angies List, then they got de-listed for past business practices.
The project:
Extremely poor communications, I had to initiate all followup. Lots of excuses from them, some of them a bit off the wall. I took a week off of my business travel to be here for the project and they never showed up. Had to take a second week. Also, they are evidently not listed as an authorized Hardie installer on Hardie's site. That does not seem to affect warranty thankfully.
It is also apparent that the owners can not fund their projects or payroll and we had to pay for all materials and then they ask for immediate progress payments to pay the crew.  Then with the material leftovers they "get" you and the returned product refunds go to them via the distributor after pick up. Vantage Point did not offer any refund option for materials returned yet we paid for them. We also got no break in markup for product since we paid and more or less funded (we were the bank)  this project.
The actual crew for the Hardie siding was great and per the distributor they are the best crew in town for Hardie. They subcontract to the owners so you may get other crews on your project. Workmanship seems to be spot on but again, this is the crew. Painters were good too but again, had to call in my credit card number when they went to get the paint.
You will have to project manage them if you decide to use them but I would wait until there is a clearer picture of just who they are, what their past business practices have actually been and that they are financially strong enough to fund the projects. Per other postings on other sites they have had other businesses in the past where there is controversy.
This is the first time Angie's list has let me down due to slow action to de-list the company and also take action to have them remove their Angie's list service awards from their advertising. Thankfully the crew that did the work was top notch. Oh, and there will probably be a response from Vantage Point, there is a pattern to their responses....read carefully.

FAQs for existing skylight repair, replacements or sealing projects in Kansas City, MO

Yes, skylights can heat your house. Skylights pull in plenty of sunlight, and that solar gain raises indoor temperatures during bright hours. The extra warmth is great in winter, but can feel stuffy in summer. Keep the heat in check with shades, low-E coatings, or reflective films so you enjoy the light without driving up cooling bills.

A newly installed skylight lasts for eight to 15 years when built and maintained well. Regular cleaning, prompt repairs, and removing obstructions such as leaves and debris help keep the unit in optimal condition. Consistent maintenance prevents premature deterioration and keeps the skylight operating safely and efficiently over its lifespan.

Several issues trigger skylight leaks. The unit may not sit flush with the roof, letting water sneak in, or the flashing and weather-stripping could be breaking down. Sometimes it’s just interior condensation that drips when the AC runs hard against humid outdoor air. A quick inspection tells you which fix is needed.

Replacing a skylight takes between three and five hours under straightforward conditions, with professional crews ensuring safe installation. Larger units, custom shapes, very high ceilings, or hard-to-access areas add extra complexity, extending the work time accordingly. Careful planning and expert handling guarantee a secure replacement process even when complications are present.

It is not safe to attempt skylight repair or replacement on your own because the work involves dangerous roof access, handling fragile glass, and managing a heavy frame. Expert professionals provide the necessary skills and safety precautions, ensuring that installations or repairs are performed correctly while preventing injury and additional property damage.
