"We discovered a dead rodent in one of our vents after the smell spread through the house. We removed the mouse but also noticed lots of dirt and debris in the duct work. We just moved into this 45 year old house about 6 months ago and so we decided it was time to get the duct work cleaned. <br /> Over a year ago (while living in a different home) I had a duct work cleaner come out from another company (dust doctors) and I really wasn't too impressed...they worked hard and fast but left a mess to clean up and seemed in more of a rush than anything. So I asked around and was told about Captain Clean from another HVAC company. I contacted them and the owner soon called me back. He asked basic details about the house and gave me an accurate price and time needed for the work estimate. I scheduled for the work be done and the technician showed up on time on the date specified, worked very diligently, offered explanations and answered questions and seemed to do a very thorough job. I paid $590 for all of our duct work to be cleaned and our home is 2700 square feet. When I used dust doctors I paid close to $400 for a home that's about 1500 square feet, so pricing is very comparable but I think Captain Clean was more personable and did not leave a mess behind. I would not hesitate to use them again. <br />"

"If I could rate higher than 5 starts, I would!! Brian did an EXCEPTIONAL job. We were originally quoted $1800 by another cleaning service in Rochester just to have our ducts and dryer vent cleaned. MedCity Duct Cleaning charged quite LITERALLY a fraction of that ($300!!). Brian was very respectful and explained the whole process in depth. He even looked into our vents to see how dirty they were and there was hardly anything in there. The company that quoted us the 1800 said they were EXTREMELY dirty and needed to be cleaned. Brian was up front and honest with us through the whole process. I could not recommend them enough. HIRE MED CITY DUCT CLEANING FOR ALL OF YOUR DUCT CLEANING NEEDS!!!!"

"1) Annual service on air conditioner and furnace. This went smoothly and easily. People sent were punctual and polite. 2) Replacement of ceiling exhaust fans in 2 bathrooms. K&S originally sent out electricians (who could not do the duct work part). From the phone conversation, K&S thought was needed replacement for ceiling fans in 2 of our bathrooms (the kind of ceiling fans with with flat, spinning blades), as opposed to the replacement of exhaust fans in the bathroom ceilings. The initial electricians who came to the home were very apologetic and helped to arrange for the correct K&S individuals to come out on a different day. The change in day was an inconvenience, but the final service was well done when the 2nd group was sent out later to do the work. I wish I would not have needed to be waiting at home on the 2nd attempt, but the individuals were polite, professional, pleasant, etc. 3) Replaement of water heater. The K&S water heater individual came out to the home and gave helpful advice in choosing a size, type and model of water heater. I felt comfortable with the choice of water heater and with K&S proceeding with the service. (His rough guess was $1000 for heater but he did not have exact pricing). He was then going to email me exact prices by 1 pm that afternoon (for the water heater plus labor cost of installing it and removing the old one) so that we could officially proceed. I never ended up hearing back from him. Over the next 2-3 weeks, I called K&S a number of times re: pricing and planning for next steps, leaving 3 messages on this specific individual's identified voice mail (I had his card). I also left 2 messages with the K&S general number itself -- one of which supposedly resulted in an email to the individual with his supervisor CC'd. Before thelack of communication and response, I had been comfortable enough to proceed with K&S for water heater replacement without getting any extra bids, very happy to not need to miss more time away from work in order to be home for other companies to come. I also liked the idea of having multiple services all centralized to and coordinated by one company. Another 2 more weeks have now passed. A competitor will now be coming out to our home in less than an hour. It was one thing to misunderstand what type of fan might be located in someone's bathroom and to then send the wrong types of service people out. Who knows, maybe I phrased things in a funny way over the phone. However, it was really the lack of communication over the water heater that has changed which company we will reach out to for heating, AC, plumbing and/or electrical service needs in the future. Feel free to share this review with K&S. If helpful to them, I would be willing to talk more with them"

"The blower motor on my furnace was squeeling, and not working at all most times.  When I spun the squirrel cage manually it would work for a short time, but then finally got to the point where it wasnt working at all.  Just a hummy noise.  When I called them, I left a message and within hours I got a call back.  I explained what I thought was wrong and they confirmed that it sounded like a bad blower motor, or to try the starter capacitor first.  I got a capacitor first and swapped out, but no luck.  Then got in touch with them again and within a hour got a new motor to swap out.   He was very easy going and said I could swap it out myself if I wanted and then if I had problems, to call them and they could come out.  I attempted the swap, but I could not get the squirrel cage off the old motor.  I called them the next day and they came out that same day and finished the work for me using the right tools.  Within a hour and a half, I was up and working again and have been working fine ever since.  a new blower motor and starting capacitor was changed.  I would recommend them in the future to anyone."

"They were very thorough.  They did a good job.  It took call day to do it and it was only one person.  He took all the registers off in every room and cleaned all of it.  He had a machine with a camera so he could see it while he was cleaning the duct.  He did a super job.  We are confident that the ducts are clean now.  The price was okay and mostly higher than some of the others."

Northern Duct Seal seals duct work from the inside by use of computerized tools and equipment. The process takes one day and our technicians will provide pre-seal and post-seal duct leakage reports on the spot. The basic steps to do a duct seal are: 1) Pre-seal Test is done to measure duct leakage, 2) Registers, returns, and air handler coil are blocked off with foam plugs, 3) A UL-tested and approved aerosol is injected into the pressurized duct system, 4) A Post-Seal Test is performed to measure improvements and 5) A complete Report and Certificate are printed to provide the customer with a record of improvement. Duct sealing provides a solution to high energy bills, air flow/air balance issues, uneven temperatures, hot and cold rooms, excessive humidity, musty odors and fume smells from stored paints, solvents, pesticides, and radon gases. Northern Duct Seal will reduce duct leakage by up to 90%, saving customers an average of $600 - $850 a year, with a 2-3 year return investment, depending on variables such as weather, system usage, energy prices, and home design. Northern Duct Seal offers a 10- year warranty on the seals created by our technicians. The sealant itself has been UL tested and approved and is considered non toxic by OSHA. For a demonstration video of the duct sealing process please see the 'Ask This Old House' Video located under the Media tab on this page.

FAQs for air ducts & vents cleaning service projects in Kasson, MN

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that air duct cleaning is not required unless visible issues such as mold buildup, rodent droppings, or excessive dust are present. When such conditions exist, cleaning becomes essential to protect indoor air quality and maintain HVAC efficiency. This approach minimizes potential health risks and extends the system’s life.

Air ducts must be cleaned every three to five years as required by NADCA to preserve system efficiency and indoor air quality. The EPA insists that cleaning is necessary only when significant issues such as mold, pest infestations, or heavy dust accumulation are evident. Annual inspections by a certified professional promptly address any emerging concerns.

The ideal seasons for air duct cleaning are spring and fall. Cleaning during these periods prepares your HVAC system for the demands of both winter heating and summer cooling. These seasons provide moderate weather conditions that enable efficient service completion while minimizing disruption, ensuring your system performs at its peak.

Professional air duct cleaning takes a fixed duration of two to five hours, depending on the home’s size and the complexity of the duct system. Smaller residences with standard ductwork complete the service in two hours, while larger homes with extensive ducts require up to five hours. Additional repairs may extend this duration.

To prepare for professional air duct cleaning, ensure all vents are unobstructed by moving nearby furniture and clearing pathways. Secure any pets in a safe area and confirm that your HVAC system units are easily accessible for technician inspection. Proper preparation contributes to a higher quality service outcome and prevents delays, allowing the cleaning process to proceed efficiently.
