"Did a walkthrough and initially quoted $600 of labor for a deep cleaning of the house due to its state (+ $50 for a disinfectant fogger for mouse areas), describing it as two people for an entire day when I asked how many hours of cleaning that would be. House is being renovated soon, so after discussion agreed that a less-thorough cleaning for $400, including a focus on the cabinets, would be sufficient. Requested I remove all furniture before cleaning. Initially spent a total of two and a half hours with two people (five man-hours, including time spent fogging and waiting for it to clear) before declaring it complete. Performed bare requirements of quoted services, neglecting things like wiping off any surfaces besides countertops, not moving a pair of rubber boots (one of the only items in the room) to vacuum or mop, not cleaning under the welcome mat, missing corners, etc. I got an enzyme cleaner to deal with the mouse urine smell in cabinets but when I suggested they use it they said it wouldn't be needed after the cabinets were wiped down. It was. I felt like it was generally not commensurate with the level of effort expected for $400 dollars to clean the (almost empty) bedroom/kitchen/bathroom/living room in a small house. The website quotes a deep cleaning of a 3br/2ba house starting at $175, and for $400 I expected roughly twice the amount of time & effort as needed to do that. Which would also be in line with the description of the original $600 quote. One of them did spend some additional time (approximately half an hour) to rectify some of these issues when I did the walkthrough post-cleaning and pointed them out. They discovered some plumbing issues that prevented use of the two sinks, so that may have been a contributing factor. They could do a better job of setting expectations."

FAQs for walls & ceilings cleaning service projects in Keene, NH

Plan on a light wall wash about once a month to keep dust, grease, and stains from settling in. If you have already hired a house-cleaning crew, which costs $15 to $40 per hour, ask them to incorporate this task into their regular visit. Most companies discount 15% to 20% when routine wall washing replaces an occasional, more labor‑intensive deep clean.

The best approach to cleaning walls depends on the type of paint you have. For oil-based finishes, mix warm water, a few drops of dish soap, and a splash of white vinegar. Then, wipe the surface with a microfiber cloth and rinse it thoroughly. Latex paint is more delicate—vacuum first, then use a dry sponge to lift any lingering dirt. Both methods preserve the finish without leaving streaks.

Drying is non‑negotiable after washing your walls. Leaving walls damp invites streaks, water spots, and even mold. After wiping, follow up with a clean towel, then use a squeegee or a box fan to remove the remaining moisture. Completely dry walls stay brighter and resist damage such as peeling, warping, or mildew growth.

Nicotine stains cling to walls and need a heavy‑duty approach. Cleaning professionals charge $200 to $1,000 to strip away the sticky residue with commercial degreasers, intensive scrubbing, and thorough rinsing. The service not only lifts the yellow film but also erases lingering odors, leaving the surface fresh and paint‑ready.
