"Karl and his team did a really fine job for me in stabilizing and repairing some damaged wood paneling and stucco on the exterior of my home. Great communication throughout the entire project and a very professional, well run operation. Project cost was competitive with other contractors and reasonable. I would highly recommend Karl Fisher Home Improvements."

"It was a pleasure working with George and his crew from platinum Pro chimney. They were very efficient. They showed up on time and the crew did a great job if you look at the photos, it looks like night and day. I am very pleased. And I would like to say. I think for what they did and how efficient they were the price was fair. If you're looking to have chimney work done, please consider this company. I believe they can handle any situation very professionally. I would like to say thank you to Angie's list for recommending this company again. I'm very pleased."

Customers say: Quality work

"Dennis is among the finest professionals I have ever employed. He gave me a reasonable quote and had almost completed the job before I left for a holiday; so, I paid him in advance. He called me while I was traveling to tell me that he had discovered a problem in the foundation from the previous builder. He tore everything apart and redid the job after I got back without any discussion of getting paid more than his original estimate. After completing the work, he asked if I would consider paying something extra to cover his additional cost. I volunteered an amount which I thought was fair, and he accepted it with a smile and a handshake. I would have given him five stars before the problem. His handling of the problem deserves an extra five stars. He also was a pleasure to deal with. ... And he earned a lot of good will for Home Advisor."

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Kennett Square, PA

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
