"Michael and his team are phenomenal. I really can't give enough praise to this company. I will use them for all my lawn care needs in the future.  <br> <br>They finished the job - hauling gravel from a carport, disposing of it, extending an existing irrigation system to that area and installing sod - in a single day, and they did an excellent job. When they encountered an issue with some concrete they found in the area, they let me know immediately and talked me through all the possible solutions and helped me find the best, most affordable fix. The lawn looks great.  <br> <br>At this point I was impressed, but what really struck me was how they followed up on the job afterwards. Scott, who installed the irrigation system, has been stopping by the house to check the moisture levels of the sod on a weekly basis and adjust the sprinklers as needed. Then a couple weeks after the sod installation I had a fence installed in the area, and the fencing crew trampled all over a section of the new sod, turning it into a muddy mess, despite my warnings. I was so upset, and Scott and Michael came to the rescue. They answered my frantic emails immediately, and right away Scott checked to make sure the irrigation system wasn't damaged. Now he's bringing his team by the house to fix the sod free of charge.  <br> <br>Between the quality of work done. the responsiveness, the follow-ups, and the EXCELLENT customer care, I am decidedly a lifetime Commonwealth Landcare customer. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br>"

"They showed up on time and completed all work agreed on during an earlier meeting. Between the time of the first meeting to set the scope of work and coming to perform it several other trees needed to be removed and they did this with no question or additional cost. They took their time and were very careful not to damage any plants, other trees or the lawn. When they removed a tree someone climbed the tree, tied off the piece to cut cut it then lowered it to the ground. They did an excellent job of cleaning up at the end. <br />"

"I thought we needed to take out our old lawn and put in sod. Styer landscaping said that would cost us $4,000, and that they would simply recommend aerating, dethatching, and seeding, and gave us a quote (for about 4,000 sq. ft) of just under $400. I asked them to some additional landscaping work for a total price of $1,000. They did a great job, and I am very pleased with the results. Would definitely use them again."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in King William, VA

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
