"Summary: The entire experience was excellent. Good communication throughout the process, and they did exactly what they said. They did the demolition on the cabinets, countertop, and backsplash, refaced some existing cabinets, and added a lot of custom cabinetry, along with a quartz countertop. The price was under 1/2 of what several other companies quoted. Price: They charged us under half of what some other companies quoted. However, it's not quite apples to apples, because those other companies folded in everything (plumbing, electrical, etc). I did some prep work myself to demo the existing island, and arranged the plumber and electrician myself. I ended up saving over $20k all told. What they do: They removed existing cabinets based on our contract, removed the existing tile backsplash and repaired the dry wall so that it was "tile ready". They installed custom cabinets (much higher quality than the existing boxes), faced all the cabinets to make the transitions from older boxes to new ones undetectable, added the new island and countertop. They replaced all doors with soft close hinges, and all of the new drawers also have soft close slides. The new cabinetry is very well made, real wood boxes, and high quality materials. What I did: before they came out, I took out the existing island. I also arranged for plumbing and electrical, as needed, and repaired the floor around the new island. After they left, I tiled the backsplash, installed the open shelving, and put soft close drawer slides in the old drawers to match the new ones. Timeline: Once we put down our deposit, we waited just about 5 months, which was a bummer. But once they started, they were true to their word and were done within 8 days. Results: We ended up with a really nice kitchen. The layout makes a lot more sense, and we essentially doubled the amount of usable counterspace. The cabinets and drawers are all soft close, and while we did put in some open shelves, we ended up netting about the same amount of cabinet storage with the addition of the new lowers along the wall and the much larger island. Other odd notes: We have two cats and two giant dogs, and needed access to the kitchen space during the remodel. They were really good about keeping doors closed and keeping the area tidy at the end of each work day. We planned to not use the kitchen during the remodel, but they did indicate that they would work with us if we had to."

"We got the name of Ian and his company from a friend that used him several years ago and were still pleased with his work. I checked his reviews and was impressed. When he returned my call he was extremely thorough in explaining exactly how he prices jobs, what he does step by step and how he does the job. I wanted our cupboards and drawers restored vs. painted. He explained he restores the looks of the cabinet vs serious repair work. He could not have been more clear or concise. We scheduled an appointment and he was prompt, calling the day ahead to confirm. He did the job as promised and also tossed in a little free and helpful advice as well. I am happy to recommend him and his work."

When I started my company over 10 years ago, there were three things that I vowed to provide to my customers: quality, integrity, and style. I have been working in the Seattle area with over 20 years of experience. I take pride in my work and I believe that it is an extension of myself. I enjoy finding creative solutions and building things to last in the Pacific Northwest.

"I had my countertop and backsplash replaced by Granite Transformations. During the sales process, I clearly explained that I had an additional issue that needed to be taken care of while replacing the countertop. The issue was that my stove was in the way of my dishwasher clearance, as a result of which the dishwasher door could not be opened fully. The salesperson assured me that the company would take care of the issue by cutting extra inches off the back of the countertop to allow the stove to slide back in just enough for the dishwasher door to open fully without obstruction. I signed the contract with this understanding. Not only did they not take care of the issue, what I am really upset about is they gave me a recommendation that turned out to their own acknowledgement to be wrong and cost me unnecessary time and money. The installers told me that I had to get a contractor to cut a hole in the wall behind my cabinet before they could come back out to cut the countertop. I did as suggested and when the installers came back out, they said there was nothing they could do and that to begin with, they didn't think cutting a hole in the back of the wall would have helped with the situation because the flange would anyway prevent the stove from sliding further back. So now I had to call the contractor back to repair the damaged wall and repaint and ended up paying $595 out of my pocket for a job that was not even necessary and did not address the issue. I raised this issue to the salesperson and sent the company back their survey form also raising the issue and to date, no one has cared to respond. I would never recommend this company to any of my friends given this experience."

"Our water heater leaked in April 2017 and we called All New Again to take care of the damage. We paid All New Again for the water mitigation and reconstruction. The water mitigation was over $17k and the reconstruction was over $13k. It was a long expensive process and the insurance company contested the ANA invoice. It was a long stressful battle to get the insurance company to pay. We thought we were addressing the damage to our home in the most thorough way and we relied on ANA's expertise to guide us through getting our home to look "new again". Recently, mold was discovered in the crawl space where they worked (along with out of place insulation, Gatorade bottle, a 2x6 piece of wood laying on the ground). But the worst part of all of this has been their combative communication with us since. The CEO told me over email that I was in "desperation mode" and threatened to sue me for my Yelp review."

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Lacey, WA

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
