"These guys did a top notch job installing permeable pavers and retaining walls for us. The original driveway was uneven and the levels were challenging. They came up with an elegant solution that is beautiful to look at and is highly functional. A+"

"French drain installation along a retaining wall (75 yards). Thomas who handled the sales end of things was friendly and responsive. The crew showed up on time. They were hard working and receptive of customer feedback. They first removed the ivy that was obstructing the work area and then completed the trench on day 1 which uncovered some of the unwelcome water sources. A legacy footing drain was plumbed directly into the main french drain pipe. Perpherated pipe was dropped in on Day 2 followed by river rock, catch basins, and 3 ft dry well installation. Cleanup was done thoroughly. I would hire them again in a heartbeat."

"I can’t say enough about how wonderful it was to work with Heath and his crew. They took my completely awful backyard and turned it into an amazing place that I never want to leave. Heath followed through with everything we talked about and more. He has an eye for landscape design and the skill to hire people who know how to install both hardscape and plant material. He has all the equipment needed to do most anything and keeps it well-maintained. Plus he’s got some great stories to share. I would hire him again in an instant. Services included irrigation system, paver patio and path, land contouring with a bulldozer, dry stream bed, sod lawn, planting and barking flower beds."

"We had an emergency situation with our stone retaining walls and they came out the same day to evaluate the job. We had the work finished by the end of the week. The staff was great. Awesome company to work with on this project and will use them again for future projects."

"Rolando called me the same day to set up an estimate. They arrived on the agreed day and on time to get the job done. They were efficient, very hard working and personable. That day I asked for a bid for a yard project as well. When I agreed to have him come back they were there the next day. Got the job done with no slowing down. I have already given his card to my neighbor who has contacted him. I'm very impressed with Rolando and crew and will call him again."

"They went to extra trouble to ensure we had the pavers we wanted despite the manufacturer having closed out the item. The two-man work team did an exceptionally good job and made very nice adjustments needed to fit a pre-existing retaining wall boundary. Overall, very pleased with their work."

"The estimator that came out was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took the time to understand my needs, and it didn't feel rushed. I enjoyed the conversation. One thing I wish they would offer, is a turn-key solution. There were aspects they weren't willing to take on - adding drainage under the deck, creating a hard barrier around the deck, etc. This means, I would have had to complete some of the work myself, or hire it out myself. I would expect for this price they presented, they would subcontract whatever other services I would need to complete their deck installation. The estimation and bidding process was not very transparent. They provide a final cost estimate, and aren't able to illustrate the various costs (labor, materials, profit) in detail. I also wasn't given a copy of the estimate, only shown the final number on the estimator's computer screen at my house. After having the evening to think things over, the price seemed pretty high to me. I created my own cost model using the actual retail costs for materials from the same company they buy their materials from, a generous fully-loaded rate for labor, and a generous 50% profit margin (on labor only). My model was showing a price about 35% lower than what they presented to me. I went back and forth with a couple of folks at USI, and they told me it was a 33%/33%/34% breakdown. This doesn't make sense to me, since the labor should roughly cost the same (assuming the same size, type, and features) no matter if I choose expensive or inexpensive materials. This model should break in most situations. The only cost justification they made was a 5 year warranty on construction - which is great, but given the cost, it feels like I'm buying an insurance policy on it anyway. The other thing was their quality, which is undeniably a contractor's reputation. Without seeing the cost breakdown, how is someone supposed to know how to make compromises, or to even make sure everything I was asking for is included? I'm not cheap, and I value craftsmanship and good service - I know that costs money. But if you can't illustrate that and educate a customer that what you're presenting is a good value, then you won't be getting my business."

"I have to say that the Island Concrete crew are incredibly hard workers. They arrive, they go to work and they work exceptionally well as a team. They all jump in and do what needs to be done and, if need be, call in extra workers who do the same. I was extremely impressed with their work ethic and the work that they did for me. They excavated and disposed of my old driveway, walkway and patio. They poured a much larger driveway and patio, with the walkway staying the same size. The driveway was brushed and the patio was stamped. In addition, they removed, disposed of and rebuilt, using landscaping cement blocks, two retaining walls I had and built two other smaller retaining walls elsewhere in my yard. It was quite the project! They were professional, friendly, patient with me and my questions and cleaned up every day before leaving. I would highly recommend Island Concrete for all of your concrete needs."

"Randy and his team did an excellent job with my little project. He worked hard to work me into his busy schedule. The wall looks Great! He was easy to speak with and the only thing I wish he would have done better was to have communicated with me about the time line of the job. But yes - Great Job - Great Guys!"
