"We were delighted with the responsiveness, work, and price for R&R to take down the upper portion of a tall tree that had snapped 50' above ground, with the snapped top hanging precariously, partially attached but ready to fall. We got three estimates. The first tree company kept saying how dangerous it was, how difficult to take it down, how complicated, and then said it would cost $1500. The 2nd company wanted to tie the top of the tree to their truck and pull it down, for $600 (an option we thought was highly questionable). R&R came out within 24 hours of our call, sized it up, explained in detail how they would go up an adjacent tree, tie off the broken tree section for safety, then climb the problem tree 50' and cut down the broken portion and lower it to the ground, then cut it up for us -- for $480, using a crew of three. We saw other great reviews on Angies List and signed a contract with R&R and within a few days they had done it professionally, safely, just as they said. We also had them prune two overgrown crape myrtles, for $100 each, and they did an excellent job with them as well, and cleaned up everything afterwards. We were completely satisfied and definitely would use them again."

"We had lost two large oak trees on our property and had five other mature oak trees with large "widow makers" high up. The dead trees would be felled, but no stump grinding was required. Four Angie's List tree services and 1 non-Angie's List service were contacted for quotes. All but one made an appointment to come out to our home, evaluate the task, and provide a quote. We selected Gordon Frazier Tree Service for our job. Gordon responded promptly and came out within a few days to give us a quote. We found Gordon to be very professional, easy to work with, and made good suggestions that helped to lower the cost of the job, which was a very competitive one. We liked that Mr. Frazier would be on-site and oversee the agreed upon work the entire time. Our dead trees and several of the trees with dead limbs were near our buried septic tank and sewer lines running to the septic field. Other tree services were still interested in using large bucket trucks as much as possible, while avoiding these areas. But Gordon Frazier eased our concerns by not using any heavy bucket trucks. Instead each tree was climbed by an individual using ropes who would remove limbs and trunk in pieces, tying the larger pieces to ropes so they could be gently lowered to the ground. The job was completed in one day. Overall they did an excellent job and we are very happy with their work. They arrived at the appointed time, performed all the agreed upon work as quoted, removed limbs and branches by chipping them, and cleaned up afterwards. We definitely would hire them again, and recommend them to everyone."

"I had contracted for a number of things to be removed and some remaining trees to be properly trimmed out. The work that was completed initially was excellent. Unfortunately, removal of some shrubs was missed (they came when I was not at home - common for this kind of service). Getting them rescheduled to complete the work took weeks - meanwhile, I can't get a landscaper in to start replanting the landscape. Because of the tight space around our tree and the fact that the tree's branches hung over our house most tree companies preferred to use a crane, which could damage our stone driveway. JL was one of the few companies that offered a quote with and without a crane. We hired them to cut the tree without a crane. They were professional, provided a copy of their insurance, and answered questions promptly.
