"I was in emergency need of replacing a timber egress window well and an adjacent paver patio that chipmunks had tunneled into and destroyed. I needed it replaced before it caved into the basement window and now was the time. Secondly, I hoped for finding someone who could install a concrete pad attached to my garage’s slab for a future 3-season screened porch. I was having a struggle finding anyone for either. Patio installers didn’t want to take on replacing an egress window well. Concrete people said they were not comfortable drilling rebar into a 75-year-old garage slab. Greg was able to do all of this! His crew was able to relocate a large stone step used in the old patio and integrate it into a new extension of the newpatio. Greg’s crew was able to masterfully cut the replacement pavers tightly around the existing pergola posts, I was really impressed! The concrete slab was poured within the frame of an existing low-height retaining wall, but the edges were dug out deep enough below the ground for structural support of the future 3-season porch. We needed a railing around the egress well, and while such work is outside the scope of what he would do, Greg referred us to a metal smith who built for us a new railing and metal ladder into the well."

"I wish every contractor worked with the same high level of professionalism, quality, communication and thoroughness as Debbie Petschl the owner of Twin City Landscape. We hired them in 2020 to remove a concrete slab and surrounding river rock, grade and install a new paver patio at our home. Debbie was personally involved from beginning to end. Her bid was clear, detailed and reasonable. The entire team was knowledgeable, polite and responsive during the week long project which was completed right on time. The final product was beautiful and the cleanup excellent. They reseeded the lawn surrounding the new patio and within a month it looked better than when they started! Working with the Twin City Landscape crew was a great experience and I highly recommend them."

"Artistic Landscapes Inc. was one of many companies we talked to and received quotes from about installing a boulder retaining wall in our backyard to replace aging railroad ties and decking. The backyard is sloped with very limited access to move materials and equipment, therefore many of the companies we spoke with responded with either limited options for landscape ideas or unaffordable prices. Chris came out, listened to our ideas, gave us some of his and told us exactly what we could expect; he quickly put a bid together and we were elated it fell within our budget.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />He and his crew not only worked around the limited access issues, but challenging weather including rain and wet conditions/clay soils. In addition to an approximate 60 foot long boulder retaining wall, they installed 33 paver stones for a pathway, steps as a feature area, additional large boulders for aesthetic enhancements and graded the area to address critical storm water runoff needs. The placement of each stone/boulder was clearly thought through, resulting in a unique and attractive wall versus many of the standard "one on top of the other" looks. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Toward the end there were a few minor tweaks we requested to which Chris and his crew were more than happy to accommodate until they knew we were completely satisfied. Clean up was fabulous too; our front yard damaged by major equipment during the process (which we knew was necessary) was fully restored as promised! <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Chris was good to communicate with and very trustworthy in terms of what he committed to delivering. I would recommend Artistic Landscapes to anyone seeking quality work at a fair price, and by someone who knows what works and what doesn't. "Randy and his team are very busy and work hard. They made the time to tear off our old cedar deck and installed new ledger boards while my house was being resided. How they coordinated with the siding contractor was impressive and much appreciated! Randy has an eye for what the customer would like in the deck project and we felt very comfortable asking him “what would you do” when it came to design and finishing options. Our new maintenance free deck is beautiful and gets quite a lot of attention from the neighborhood walkers! We are not tired of hearing “wow, your deck looks great! Who installed it?” We are going to miss having his crew around! Next year I plan on him putting in a paver patio for our fire ring! Five stars from me and my wife!"

"I'm long overdue to write this review, but we hired King Scapes last summer to complete an extensive project to replace a rotten timber retaining wall, replace it with stone, and build a new stone patio with fire pit in our back yard. Even before that, we had met with Don to discuss our broader vision for our yard and he created a three-phase plan (this was phase two) that we could complete as it made logistic and financial sense for us. We were extremely impressed with the professionalism and the quality of work that was completed. They always kept us up to date on what was happening and asked us whenever a decision needed to be made. This ensured we were happy with the finished product. The project was burdened by lousy weather, and they never complained nor did they cut corners to get the job done faster. The work wasn't cheap but that's the nature of the project we embarked upon. We just wanted it done right. I would highly recommend King Scapes."

"Really well - i have used several small landscapers (and even other contractors) over the years, and Josh was by far the best overall experience.  I got his name from a friend who used him for a larger project last year.  I think the price was fair but not cheap, hence my B rating there, but honestly I was not really able to get an equivalent bid from anyone else.  So i could be wrong there.   Overall the experience from sales through design and execution was great.  Josh is knowledgeable and easy-to-work-with, not typical pushy sales.  He worked with us on a great design from my rudimentary sketch, and it turns out to be EXACTLY what we wanted.  We engaged him in the fall, and they were not able to get the project done before winter (although he had never promised to.)  But he said we'd be first on the list in the spring.  He contacted us in March to finalize plans and get a deposit, then got the work done ASAP in mid-April.  They came when they said they would, with a crew of 3 and got the project done in 3 days.  I can't speak to long term quality, but am extremely pleased so far, and hopeful it holds up.   Since this is a front patio, we get many compliments from neighbors on the sidewalk, and have shared Josh's name several times.  Would recommend him highly!  Thanks again, Josh! <br />"

"My wife and I are retired, and we wanted to spend more time outside enjoying our large backyard that has a beautiful woods starting at the back edge of our yard. The tiny patio and the old landscaping were and quot;drearyand quot; and needed some punch to enhance the area, and make it possible to entertain more than six people at one time. <br /> We got some landscaper recommendations from a few neighbors, Angie's List and Gerten's Nursery. We had three companies look at our situation and make suggestions and give us a bid. The first guy listened to what we wanted, but never made any suggestions of his own and wanted $1200.00 to draw up a plan. The second man had a lot of general ideas, showed us some architectual drawings of some of his projects. His projects were very formal and quite expensive. We wanted something more casual that blended in with the hills and wooded area behind our house. The owner was very nice and had great plans, but he too wanted a large up front deposit before he would draw up a plan. The third landscaper was Scott Solomonson, owner and operator of Living Space Landscapes. Again, we described the general theme and our needs for this project. Scott seemed to catch on very quickly on what our needs were and he offered numerous ideas. He said he would draw up a general plan that we could discuss, modify and shape up what the project would look like. He didn't want any deposit until he started the project, if we decided to go with him. He said he would call us and bring over a drawing and proposal in a few days. <br /> After he left, my wife and I figured the we would probably be going with him unless his plan wasn't close to what we wanted , and/or was too expensive. We just had a good feeling about him. He seemed like someone we could trust and be comfortable with. Two days later, he came back with a plan that was exactly what we wanted and would have drawn up ourselves if we had the skill and knowledge. His price was right, so we put him to work. <br /> Scott has two permanent employees, two specialists that he works with on placing the large rocks, a patio specialist, Jim Timm, and a couple of college kids in the summer who do a lot of the grunt work. Scoot works as hard as his crew and has a real nice rapport with the team. Everyone worked really hard, put in long days, and was a perfectionist. Of course, they were working during the hot spell we have just endured. There was only one day when they stopped at about noon, because it was just unbearably hot and dangerous. <br /> Every last detail that Scott had in our plan was exactly what we wanted. He DID NOT put in the smallest or cheapest plantings he could find! We had not written into the contract the specific sizes of the plantings, but Scott said they would be generous sizes and anything we didn't like, he would change. He is a true artist and just had an eye for what would look good. Absolutely everything was better than expected, and the finished project exceeded our greatest expectations. <br /> We are so incredibly pleased with the final product! Working with Scott was such a pleasure. He is just a really nice person and delivered more than we could have envisioned. We definitely made the right choice. He was one of the recommended landscapers that Gerten's had given us, and most everything came from them. Of course we had to buy new patio furniture, since our old stuff looked pretty ratty in the new Garden of Eden setting. <br /> <br />"

"<p>We had previously worked with Chris and his crew on replacement of a failing timber retaining wall with a contoured block version. That earlier work involved demolition and removal of treated posts and lumber while extending a pre-existing section using an Anchor block product. The segmented, angular wall was replaced by a contoured design that provided more room for a prized shade tree. During this initial, 2012 phase, we found Chris very easy to work with. He was receptive to our concepts and offered constructive comments- we didn't want a deferential contractor that would let us make bad choices. Chris speaks up in a respectful way. The crew happily worked with street pavers that were on-site. <br /> That earlier work turned out so nicely that we resolved to continue the project the in 2013 as our vision for completion firmed up. There are obvious advantages to completing the entire job at once, but even using design software, it is difficult to feature how it will all turn out. Change orders and call-backs are no fun for anyone. For us, it worked to live with an incomplete project for a few seasons to really know what we wanted.<br />  <br /> The 2013 work would involve constructing low planters in both the front and back yards, extending the patio work in the back yard, adding edgers and completing sod work. Chris returned with the same crew (a plus for us) and was rarely not on site himself during either project. This work was complicated by an impending family reunion. To avoid damaging existing landscaping, most of this second phase was completed with wheelbarrows and hand tools.  Once again, there were design and material selection considerations as well as technical issues, including rainwater management.  There was no objection to the owners contributing labor. In turn, we tried to stay ahead of the crew or out of the way.</p> <br /> The entire project is now complete- we are delighted and have received nothing but compliments. <br /> <br />"
