"My roof had been damaged by a recent wind storm in Billings and I needed repairs done. I contacted two other roofing companies before contacting Kirkness. The first said they would do the repairs but then never showed up nor returned my calls. The second didn’t contact me for over a week later. When I contacted Kirkness Roofing they responded within minutes and I had an estimate that day. They completed the repairs a few days later and to top it all off, they did it for free! I highly recommend Kirkness Roofing for any repairs and installation. They are professional, prompt, friendly, and efficient. I will recommend them to everyone I know."

"This company is great. They are knowledgeable and professional. It was a pleasure to have them at my home. The crew was friendly, and were good to work with. They went the extra mile to make sure things were done right. It’s the best roof I’ve had and several people have commented on how nice it looks. It has held up well through two storms with 70-80 MPH winds and countless lesser storms. Mike was very knowledgeable about how to work with the Insurance company, which saved me a lot of stress. I highly recommend them. Hire them. You’ll be happy that you did.."

"After being on their work list for about 10 weeks, we finally got an appointment date. Workmen showed up 2 hours late, but they had an emergency repair in Laurel and I was notified by phone. Work completed in 1 day. We are happy with the work so far, it hasn't rained since gutters were installed so can't report on that right now. <br />"

"After talking to a dozen roofers, it was a pleasant releif talking to Tom. So many of the people/companies I spoke with were shady and it was becoming an disheartening search. Fortunately, I started asking for word-of-mouth recommendations instead of just utilizing Internet and advertisement referals. Two different people had used Tom in the past and highly recommended his company to do my roof. I'm so glad I listened to them! <br /> Tom is a true professional. He was very knowledgable about the business and products and I learned much more from him than any of the other roofers I spoke to. He was able to point out some things that my insurance adjustor missed and helped me to navigate the insurance process in general. He was even willing to talk to them himself when I needed some professional backup, so-to-speak, during one of the many claim call center run-arounds. Tom also worked with me on a few things that were not covered by insurance. <br /> My damage was caused in September, but due to winter approaching and the insurance appeal process, I wasn't able to get it done until June. Throughout that time, Tom checked in and continued helping me appeal to the insurance company. He was also going to do temporary repairs to get through winter, but it ended up that none were necessary. <br /> Tom did another pre-inspection a couple of days before his crew arrived. When they came on-site, all were very friendly and professional. Once they were done, Tom came back again a day later to do an additional follow-up inspection. The crew was very clean - that's extremely important to Tom that they leave people's property and clean or cleaner than when they arrived - and sizeable! There were a lot of hands on deck so they got both the house and garage done in record time. <br /> Since then, I have heard from others (including the 2nd insurance adjustor) of what a reputable business he has and that it was a solid choice that I made. I think they did a great job and on my property and I continue to get compliments on my roof. I would not hesitate to hire Tom Hennessy again if I need his services! <br /> Bottom line, I beleive Tom is a trustworthy person and I felt very taken care of by his company. <br /> <br />"

"Jenny Bowers is excellent.. someone who takes pride in her work. She purchased the parts from either Lowe’s or Home Depot and showed me the receipt. The cost for the repair was more than reasonable. I had been told by a friend who does repair contracts for hotels that the rotted wood would need to be replaced with PVC material and that’s exactly what she used. Cleaned up inside the house near the door as well as the patio. This lady knows what she is doing . Hire her from TimeSavers in Winston Salem NC. We had contacted another handyman service who said they would first need to come out and take measurements around the door so they would know how much of the supplies would need! I simply took a picture of the door on my cell phone and sent to Ms Jenny at Timesavers Handyman services, she measured what she needed to measure as she was completing the job. Wish we could upload before and after pics. Will hire her again for any other type of services"

"Jim and his team are phenomenal! Jim always returns our calls right away, and is on time delivering exceptional service. Jim and his team who completed the roofing exceeded expectations. They are professional, and very customer focused. Last year Jim installed an awning for us after waiting for other contractors to return our calls. We called him, and he immediately returned our call, gave us the information we needed, and hired him to complete the project. He truly cares about the work he delivers. His cost for the projects he has completed are reasonably priced and definitely worth it. We will hire him in the future for other projects as well as recommend him to others."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Laurel, MT

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
