"I wouldn't have believed how easy it would be to get a new roof until Chris showed me how. He really earns his business. Everything went very well. <br /> Chris demonstrated creativity and ingenuity in helping my wife and me choose the best possible roof at the best possible price. He was thorough in explaining the pros and cons of each choice, and in the end he guided us toward what I think was the best choice for us, a metal roof. I thought this type of roof would be a whole lot more expensive than a regular shingle roof, but the difference wasn't too bad. <br /> Chris is well-informed, convincing, and helpful in the extreme. He has a talented crew who performed excellent work. Chris also kept them working hard for an efficient installation. It did take a little longer than I had hoped to begin the work, but this was largely due to an extremely wet and rainy July. Otherwise, everything was extremely timely and professional. Chris is a talented, hard-working, and courteous person, and he has created an outstanding company in Elite Roofing. <br /> One more thing: Chris Davis is an honest man. I would rehire him in a heartbeat, and I recommend him to all.  <br />"

"Subcontractors were mostly good, but management of them was lacking. I had to personally supervise them because the on site contractor rarely stayed very long. Told the trim finish crew to leave because they did not know how to install crown molding. Got another crew that knew what they were doing. They never asked for periodic payments during the job (as is typical); presented one huge bill at the end. Holland homes builds nice homes, but I would not recommend them for small jobs like mine because you do not get the best crews and you have to wait for them to fit you into their schedule."

"Our "only" negative comment about Ground Zero Shelters is that they do not come to a persons residence to give the sales pitch and demonstration. You must go to their showroom or see their product at a home show. This being said, we were extremely happy with the sales experience, reminders and installation of our shelter. They called about 10 days prior to the installation for a reminder, their installers called the day before and the morning of the installation to remind us that they would be at our home at the designated time. They showed up as promised and were completed with the installation in less than 1 1/2 hours time! Thank you Ground Zero!"

"Mr. Bennett knocked on my door and asked me if he could inspect our roof for hail damage (for free). After approx. 30 minutes, he returned and showed me multiple areas on my roof that was hail damaged. He advised me to call my Insurance company and file a claim. We did this together and after giving the authorization to allow Mr. Bennett to speak to them, he filed my claim and were finished within 10 minutes. They scheduled an adjuster to meet with Mr. Bennett 3 days after our phone conversation. Mr.Bennett was actually 15 minutes early for their inspection and had his ladder out and ready for him and my adjuster to inspect our roof. They were on the roof for approx. 30 minutes and returned together. My adjuster explained the claims procedure and told me he agreed with my contractor that the roof needed replacing due to hail damage. Mr. Bennett is also a insurance adjuster and it appeared they had a very good relationship. After my insurance adjuster left, Mr. Bennett and I picked out my shingle color and scheduled the roof to be replaced. They arrived on time and two days later were finished with the job. My roof looks great!Mr. Bennett advised that I should have additional ridge vents to allow my attic more ventilation. I agreed and he did this within the amount of money allowed by my insurance comp. I didn't have to pay a dime out of pocket! He gave me credit for my deductible by allowing him to put a sign in my front yard for 30 days after his work was completed. I was not aware that the state of Alabama allows the insured UP TO 6 YEARS to file a claim for storm related damages!! I did call the Alabama Department of Insurance in Montgomery to verify this because my daughter's roof was damaged in Tuscaloosa from the Tornados and she thought it was too late to file a claim. Mr. Bennett is now helping my daughter with the same process. To sum up my experience with Bennett Roofing, it was the best I've had in my 43 years of dealing with contractors.Mr. Bennett did not request any money until he was completed and I was 100% satisfied. He requested the money of my initial insurance check and explained that he would fill out a completion form and my Insurance company would send the depreciation (or hold back as he called it). I called Mr. Bennett after receiving my second check and he came to my home after telling me to wait until the check had cleared. At no time did he pressure me about giving him money.Great guy to have in our area! Highly recommended!!! <br /> <br /> Satisfied Customer <br /> <br /> Jasper Alabama"

"I have used Ken Brown of Ken's roofing on 3 different occasions. His crew was hired to put the roof on a new addition at my home, and he also replaced the roof on one of my rental houses. <br /> My in-laws used him to replace the roof on their house, and from the very beginning he was always professional, prompt, fair in his pricing. He went over in details of what his crew would do once awarded the job, and each time they followed through. He worked with our insurance company (Allstate) and actually has a good reputation with them. I would highly recommend Ken's Roofing for any repairs or replacement that you may need. <br />"

"Contacted WPI during a Home Show and asked for them to perform a inspection of my roof to determine if there was any damage from recent storms in the area and when I might need to have it replaced.  The WPI representative followed up with a call to set a date for the inspection.  They subsequently performed the inspection at the agreed to date and time.  The inspection took about 30 minutes, after which they provided an assessment. <br />"

"Mr. Haas identified problems in our roof installation and issued a report. He suggested re-install and steps that we should take to get it done. It was a long process that involved county and DPOR. Mr. Haas was very helpful every step during the entire process. He is highly experienced and very responsive to our calls, text, and email. We eventually got the roof reinstalled in a very good quality. Mr. Haas was onsite multiple times to ensure the right materials and methods were used. It would not be possible without the help from Mr. Haas."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Leesburg, AL

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
