"Rick returned our calls promptly and gave us a fair quote for services. Baumann's does not overcharge or upsell. Once we settled on Baumann's Landscaping as our contractor, we called Rick and the crew were out the next morning promptly at 9am. We were expecting two days of work to clear the brush, but they completed the job in 4 hours. The crew went above and beyond, killing vines choking our trees, mulching all the deadfall, and pushing the brush line all the way back beyond the trees (we live on Maryland wetlands). Fast, prompt, great job. Would absolutely hire again. A++."

"We were being overrun by ants.  Since the very first spraying, the most I've found is 2 ants!  I was very impressed.  I know that they will come again for 2 more treatments with the package that I purchased. They were very professional and went over the precautions associated with the treatment.  They were very punctual."

"I used Superior Landscaping for a front yard project in Oct 2018. The work included tree/stump/root removal, removing all existing front shrubs/bushes and replacing them with new bushes and ornamental trees, sodding the front and side yards, and re-landscaping all mulch beds. They also removed and replaced my walkway and front steps. They were professional and easy to work with, completed the job on schedule, and the end result was exactly what I had requested. I would definitely recommend Superior Landscaping!"

"When I emailed Pro Arbor, they contacted me by phone within a few hours and scheduled their arborist, Adam, to come the next business day. Adam arrived a few minutes early, which was wonderful, and looked carefully at each of our three large trees in the front yard. He then explained the issues with each tree and made suggestions for each one for now and for the future. He arranged to do the work two days later. Adam himself showed up with the crew right on time on the service day, and he introduced me to all of the crew members. The guys worked quickly and carefully, and when they were done, they showed me exactly what they'd done to each tree and what we should think about next time they come. When the invoice came, it didn't reflect a discount I'd purchased via Angie's list, but Alice fixed the problem within hours. Their emails, telephone calls, and in-person contacts were among the most professional I've ever encountered with home-services providers. I will definitely be calling them in a few years to trim our trees again. Working with them was simply a terrific experience.

"It's too soon to judge the final outcome. But many of my neighbors have great-looking lawns and are customers of NaturaLawn. They were enjoyable to talk with. They use quality organic materials. They did their homework, knowing my property and neighborhood right away. Prices were comparable, and they gave me a slight discount on top of that. I've only had one treatment and didn't see anyone, but we're off to a great start!"

"Redesign from grass to boulders and decorative plants: Ibi and crew came and removed all of the front yard plants, mostly grass and a few accent evergreens. It was a total overhaul. His staff spent 2 days removing plants in place plus roots and soil. Boulders came next. Watching his staff work was a pleasure. He was here every day to oversee that it was done to his requirements. It looked fabulous when completed. However, in a month we had a major problem - nutsedge. It did not happen immediately, but it was killed and removed by his staff. He also added some plants for ground cover and replaced one plant's loss. We experienced a few problems but like the professional he is, Ibi resolved each one as it occurred - lights, nutsedge, and dead plants. He replaced and addressed all of our problems. Definitely would use his company again."

"So glad I found Stokes Tree Solutions. Top notch on all the important criteria: price, responsiveness, professionalism, speed of response, safety, etc.
Tom is a hardworking guy that is on the job and in the tree himself. Very important and his way of doing things shows in the end results.
I would definitely recommend Stokes Tree Solutions.

"CSI did a thorough inspection, provide analysis, detailed report of findings and provided pictures of the areas with issues as well as aerial views of the house, lot and surrounding area. We are definitely hiring them for the Final Home Inspection and analysis."

FAQs for trees & shrubs treat, protect and maintain projects in Leesburg, VA

The optimal transplanting season depends on your tree species, but most trees respond best when moved during dormancy. For deciduous trees, late fall after leaf drop or early spring before bud break provides the lowest stress periods. Evergreens transplant better in early fall or late summer when soil temperatures remain warm enough for some root growth. Avoiding transplanting during active growth periods helps trees direct energy toward establishing new roots rather than supporting foliage.

While technically, trees of any size can be transplanted with the right equipment and expertise, practical considerations limit what's reasonable for most homeowners. Trees with trunk diameters under 15 inches are most commonly transplanted in residential settings. Success rates decline as trees increase in size and age, with specimens over 24 inches in diameter presenting significant challenges and costs. For large trees, carefully weigh the substantial investment against the potential benefits and survival probability.

Most transplanted trees require one to two years to fully establish in their new location, with larger specimens often needing additional time. During this establishment period, the tree regenerates roots that were inevitably lost during the move. Signs of successful establishment include normal seasonal growth patterns, healthy leaf development, and reduced dependence on supplemental watering. The quality of aftercare during this critical period significantly influences long-term survival rates.

Self-transplanting is feasible for small trees with trunk diameters under two to three inches if you have proper tools and follow correct techniques. However, medium to large trees require professional expertise and specialized equipment to ensure tree survival and property protection. While professional services cost more initially, they achieve much higher success rates and prevent potential damage to your property or the tree itself. The investment in professional services often proves worthwhile when considering the value of mature trees.
