"After Lowe's came to clean the dyer vents at my condo building, my dryer was no longer venting. I contacted them and initially they said they would send someone to check the vent. They then called back and said my vent was never clean because it was disconnected and they could not help me. This was strange because the dryer was working fine before they came. Also, in my trash there was foil tape that you would wrap around the vent. This made me think that they did try to clean the vent despite saying they did nothing. I contacted my management company who said there were never any previous issues with my vent. I called Lowe's back and told them this and they still insisted that they never touched it but would check with the technician. I looked into it my self and found that in the section of the vent between the dryer and the ceiling there was a mass of lint the size of a small animal (see the picture). It was so large that moisture from the dryer had also built up and flooded the bottom of the vent hose. The building manager was then able to clear another mass of lint from the section of the vent in the ceiling and the dryer then started venting to the outside. It was never disconnected like Lowe's said. It seems they started cleaning it and just jammed the dust all the way back to the dryer. Why they didn't finish removing it is a mystery. If they ever service my building again, I will refuse."

"After Healthy Homes did such a great job on my rental apartment, decided to see if they could help me with the cigarette smell in my car. Was sold a small handheld fog machine and some Un-Odor product. Fogged the entire interior of my vehicle, sprayed the product on all surfaces. After washing the windows with Windex and wiping everything down with a dry towel, the car was free from odor and looked and smelled clean and fresh! Fantastic Products!!!"

"BE AWARE: IT'S A MEMBERSHIP! I have had a plan with them for over seven years and have been experiencing backups during that time. They conducted a survey of my line and determined that it was collapsing. I requested that they repair or replace the line, as this is part of my contract, but they denied my request for unclear reasons. I tried to explain that a line that frequently backs up due to collapses cannot function properly, but they seem deaf to my concerns."

"We purchased a new gas boiler from Berkshire Heating and Air Conditioning, LLC in May 2022, along with a paid 2 year warranty agreement. The boiler was serviced per agreement. in February 2023. The boiler broke down in February,2024. Berkshire Heating sent a serviceman who repaired it. It broke down again 7 days later and we were told we needed a $1700.00. part. We agreed to that and were told Berkshire Heating would call as soon as the part was in. At that point they never offered to come back and try to restart the boiler. So, we, an elderly couple, were left with NO HEAT in the middle of February. We had also purchased a mini split heating and air conditioning system from Berkshire Heating. We tried to heat our home with the units, but they also were not working because when they were serviced (per our paid warranty agreement) in 2023, the serviceman did not check the fluid levels in the outdoor unit. We were told Berkshire is not able to service this issue during the colder months. So, we had to depend on space heaters for heat in February. It is now April and they NEVER called back to tell us the part for the boiler was available or to inquire how we were doing with no heat. In the past few years we have had Berkshire Heating install a mini split system, a new gas boiler, a new water heater and two outdoor water faucets. Two of these systems are now broken. After being loyal customers for many years, we received absolutely no support or concern and our paid warranties and guarantees were never honored in any way."

FAQs for air ducts & vents cleaning service projects in Lenox, MA

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that air duct cleaning is not required unless visible issues such as mold buildup, rodent droppings, or excessive dust are present. When such conditions exist, cleaning becomes essential to protect indoor air quality and maintain HVAC efficiency. This approach minimizes potential health risks and extends the system’s life.

Air ducts must be cleaned every three to five years as required by NADCA to preserve system efficiency and indoor air quality. The EPA insists that cleaning is necessary only when significant issues such as mold, pest infestations, or heavy dust accumulation are evident. Annual inspections by a certified professional promptly address any emerging concerns.

The ideal seasons for air duct cleaning are spring and fall. Cleaning during these periods prepares your HVAC system for the demands of both winter heating and summer cooling. These seasons provide moderate weather conditions that enable efficient service completion while minimizing disruption, ensuring your system performs at its peak.

Professional air duct cleaning takes a fixed duration of two to five hours, depending on the home’s size and the complexity of the duct system. Smaller residences with standard ductwork complete the service in two hours, while larger homes with extensive ducts require up to five hours. Additional repairs may extend this duration.

To prepare for professional air duct cleaning, ensure all vents are unobstructed by moving nearby furniture and clearing pathways. Secure any pets in a safe area and confirm that your HVAC system units are easily accessible for technician inspection. Proper preparation contributes to a higher quality service outcome and prevents delays, allowing the cleaning process to proceed efficiently.
