Small jobs welcome

"They did a marvelous job cleaning up our neglected yard and got rid of that little black fence that's been driving me crazy since we purchased the property. The workers were prompt and very polite. If we were staying in the area we would be using this service for regular yard care."

"Rick Ramoser was the landscape architect we first met to work on this project. I cannot say enough positive things about him. He completely understood what we needed, gave valuable suggestions, designed a plan based on our input and then oversaw the installation. It took about a week to complete all the work and they completely transformed our overgrown backyard into a calm, serene place to now spend time with birds, bees and butterflies . The installers were wonderful, worked hard each day and did a very professional job. Our neighbors enjoyed watching them and marveled at what they accomplished. A dry riverbed was incorporated into the design and it has worked extremely well with all the rain we've had lately.....no more lakes in our backyard! For sure we would hire Poul's Landscaping & Nursery again."

"I called one of the other highly rated vendors, and got a price of around $350 for roughly 7-8 cu. yds. of screened topsoil (delivered). I called JCK based on a single, very enthusiastic review on the list, and they quoted $200 for 10 yards delivered. I was calling on a Wednesday afternoon, and they were able to deliver the following day, if I had wanted it that quickly. I ordered 10 yards to be delivered on Friday afternoon after 1pm, and the truck showed up about 1:45. I asked for the load to be dumped in 2 places, and the driver was more than happy to do that. The driver was also careful to check clearance on overhead wires and trees. Since he had to back over a public sidewalk, he had me sign a waiver for damages. (It wasn't fresh concrete, so I wasn't worried, and there was no damage.) The quality was excellent. Very little straw or other debris, and the soil itself was great. It was clear from the aroma that it had a fair amount of natural 'fertilizer' in it, too. After spreading the first load, I found I needed more, and had another 10 yards delivered the following Friday. Same great product and service. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again myself, or recommend them to others."

"We first had a couple questions about the product and how it got delivered, and they answered everything. They had a number of delivery options available and placed it exactly as requested. We spread the mulch in the garden, and everything looks great. All told it was a fraction the cost of having someone else spread it. The main cost was simply the delivery, but since we don't have a truck, was well worth it."

"Since Nierman Landscaping designed my beds, removed old plants & placed mulch last year & did a good job (aside from laying a very thin layer of mulch which allowed weeds to take over my beds.) I contacted them this year to perform maintenance. The quote I received (this year) for redefining the beds, applying more mulch and pulling weeds was "around $1000." The work was completed (when I wasn't present) & when I returned home the yard looked great. On closer inspection I noted that there were the heads of 6 plants cut down slightly under the mulch. I called to ask why these plants were under the mulch & get a general report on the work performed. A few days later I received this e-mail from the Maintenance Supervisor stating, "A couple were dead, the crew pulled them out." There was no greeting or further comments just this one line message. I responded asking if the plants would be replaced but again received no response. I waited a few days before contacting the owner's wife again & explained that I received a mere one line response from the maintenance supervisor & was told the plants were removed but insured her that the plants were still in the ground. I further stated that I would have expected more than a one line response to my inquiry & also a correction plan. The owners wife stated she would have the supervisor contact me. I waited almost a week and received no response so I contacted Nierman's again. Once connected with the supervisor I had to reiterate all the information I had asked 2-3 x's before. I informed him that I would have appreciated more communication on how the job went as well as an update on any issues He again stated the plants were dead and were removed. I then told him that the plants were NOT removed and that I was never informed about that fact or what would be done about it. End result was that the plants were replaced but again no update on the work performed or a sorry for the lack of communication or obvious poor supervision of men performing installation. Unfortunately I had also paid them $1775.00 in full prior to noting the dead plants. This amount was above the quote of $1000. This company seems to have a huge problem with communication. Supervision also seems to be lacking hence the supervisor thinking the plants were removed when they weren't & the thin layer of mulch applied the first time. I also found an additional dead plant that was not removed after their second trip back to remove the first dead plants. Was anyone supervising this crew? Variance in quote and real charge. Again communicating with the customer and updating them on the need to charge more would have been good business practice. Lastly to the owner. If a customer calls you with an issue regarding your company don't re-route me to a supervisor. Bad practice affects your business & If you would have taken charge of my concerns there would have been a better outcome. My complaint should have told you there was a problem with the supervisor so why refer me back to him?"
