"They quoted the job in days spent and number of employees at this address. They showed up on time and the day scheduled. However, three employees all left at the same time two maybe three different times to get parts. I failed to understand the reasoning for this when they gave me an itemized quotation with the parts needed to complete the job front. Please note: this was not scheduled through Angies List but through one of the big box home improvement stores."

"I had a badly leaking house roof with 35 year old shingles. Called CRP and spoke with the owner, Mr, Rob Foster. He came out asap, we walked the roof and I received a detailed estimate two days later. He answered all my questions via phone and email promptly. He was very congenial and we had an immediate personal connection. Rob, Jeff and their crew arrived at 8 a.m., replaced all questionable wood and reshingled. They also installed some additional, necessary down spouts. All debris was cleaned up and they were finished by 2 p.m. All replacement materials were quality as specified in the original estimate. The crew were hard workers, did not take any breaks and did a beautiful job. I am very satisfied and would certainly recommend CRP. Good guys."

"Perfect. I enjoyed getting to sit in the storm shelters at their showroom to help with size selection. After signing up for the install, they connect you to an online portal to manage the contract and to update building permit number, etc. Installation was prompt and clean."

"Dennis was professional, punctual, courteous and communicative. Purcell Roofing was recognized with an Angie's List 2017 Super Service Award--and it's easy to understand why. Dennis Purcell called me promptly, he's knowledgable and able to explain things clearly, but most importantly for me: he's honest and didn't try to oversell me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his company to my friends or family members."

"I waited a year to write this review so that my wife and I could have a decent amount of time actually using what Aaron Prange (of Built by YOU) made for us. We have a small bathroom in a modern house built in 1968, which we wanted to renovate in an appropriate style. We had a recently acquired vanity top with fixture that we like a lot, but everything else needed to be changed. We consulted with several remodeling contractors before settling on Aaron. The reason was that he was the only one with a clear vision of how to proceed and really take into account our wishes. Others did not want to try retaining our new vanity top, while replacing the vanity cabinet, but Aaron was willing. He arranged for us to have a beautiful new cabinet made by Tim Graber Furniture, and he reinstalled our top seamlessly. He figured out how to expand the depth of the walk-in shower (replacing a narrow tub) without making the space seem cramped. And he had great ideas about lighting, as well as an idea for a large new mirror (also from Graber). We researched and picked out shower surrounds and plumbing fixtures (from Hoosier Winsupply -- highly recommended), flooring (from ColorTile), paint (from Bloomington Paint and Wallpaper), and we also had a mold remediation outfit (Bloom Environmental) carefully take out our moldy drywall ceiling. Aaron arranged for all the work to be done in the right sequence and with very minimal delays. He did a good deal of the demolition and construction work himself, with one co-worker. He was very good about communicating about the schedule and next steps. The work site was clean, with quilted moving mats forming a path from our front door into the bathroom. The job was completed maybe a week late, though much earlier than the other contractors were willing to promise. The job was done during the first half of August, which seems to be a busy time for contractors. We are thrilled with the result and enjoy using the space so much more than the old one. The cost was fair and stuck very close to the original estimate (barring a few things that we asked for after the estimate was done). Not everything was perfect: there was a minor alignment problem with the shower surround, due to nothing in our house really being at right angles. Some of the shower caulking has degraded by now and really needs to be refreshed, and a mounting flange for one of the shower fixtures has come loose. These are pretty minor compared to what could happen with a project in which the walls, ceiling, and much of the floor was stripped bare. I would not hesitate to call Aaron for a consultation on your next remodeling project."

"Wallace construction came to my door after seeing shingles missing on my roof. Unlike the fly by night contractors that typically do this approach, Denise was very friendly, had a logo shirt and truck and was very professional. They helped us with our insurance adjuster to pay for a good portion of the new roof when I didn't even realize it was a possibility. They offered great communication which to me is key. Everything was accomplished in a timely and professional manner. Our new roof looks great and definitely improved our curb appeal. Will use for future projects, and I even have a few in mind."

"When we needed a new furnace/A/C system, we purchased an expensive unit from the company that had been doing our annual inspections. The unit was installed in May, 2018 and, although the A/C worked fine, the heat would never turn on when it got cold. The dealer sent their servicemen out 5 or 6 times in the Fall/early Winter of 2018 to get it started each time but if it got warmer and the heat turned off , it would never start again on its own. Each time the servicemen assured us that the problem was fixed after they replaced parts or did overrides on the system. When we turned the heat on in the Fall, 2019 and it didn't start AGAIN, I called Bryant who provided me with the contact info of Bloomington Heating and Cooling, advising that they were their "authorized" dealer in my area. I called the company and Kevin came out the same day to thoroughly inspect our system. Ultimately, he discovered that the installer had used an adhesive compound that was so expandable that it nearly closed off the gas input pipe and likely had caused pcs. of adhesive to get sucked into the modulating gas valve. After replacing the modulating valve and, more importantly, cleaning out the gas pipe, the furnace came on by itself and started again after shutting off with higher temps. The original installer just kept getting the furnace to engage without searching further to find the real problem. I'm so impressed with Kevin and Bloomington Heating and Cooling that I wanted to let others know their outstanding skill level. Never again will I buy a system from someone who does annual inspections without doing due diligence. I want the best and that's what we've found in Bloomington Heating and Cooling! Despite it taking over a year to get a new furnace to work as it should, I'm relieved to have found a company willing to look deeper into problems and find long-term solutions. We'll be using Bloomington Heating and Cooling for annual inspections from now on, confident that if there are future problems, we have an excellent resource!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Linton, IN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
