"Due to a significant hailstorm, we found ourselves in need of a new roof. This was our first roofing experience and we interviewed, and received bids from, a number of roofing companies before deciding on the Atlanta Metro Roofing (AMR) Company. Making our decision to go with AMR was easy thanks to Shari and Tom Zippay. They are true professionals in the roofing business and demonstrated impeccable honesty, transparency, integrity, and commitment to us. Our initial conversation with Shari showed her complete understanding and knowledge of the field. Of the companies we spoke to, Shari was the only person to devote a great amount of time guiding us through the process, providing instructions in dealing with insurance claims, insurance adjusters, expectations, and every aspect of the process. We had a specialty roof requiring a considerable amount of time and effort to replace due to its unique characteristics. Shari, Tom, and their outstanding team of experts demonstrated incredible patience, commitment, and time in ensuring our needs were met 100%. We have learned through our experience that the roofing business is different with each customer. For us, it was because of our unique roof and an unexpected storm that resulted in a fallen tree limb hitting our roof during installation. This didn’t phase Shari and Tom; they were immediately on the scene and repaired all while finishing the install of our entire roof. If you wish to do business with a reputable, honest, and dedicated roofing company which treats your home as if is their own, then call AMR. You will not be disappointed and you will receive the best service in the industry. Whatever your particular needs may be, Shari and Tom will ensure your roof will be perfect!"

"Let me start by saying if you are looking for roofing repair or a new roof, you are really making a mistake if you don't have Bryan with Southern Roofing Solutions at least give you a quote.  Read the rest of my review to understand why. <br /> I can't say enough good things about Bryan and Southern Roofing Solutions.  First, we bought our home about 2 years ago and it is about 12 years old now.  In the first year of owning the house, we ended up with a leak in our two story foyer.  I called several companies to come out and look at it.  Not only was SRS the best price, but they took care of it that day. He also informed me that the shingles that were put on our house originally had been recalled.  However, the pot of money set aside to fix this from the company had pretty much been tapped out. <br /> Over the next year or so we had several other leaks that Bryan's team came out and fixed due to leaking penetration and nail holes due to the fact that the original installer had used toe boards through the roof shingles.  Ugh!  We were trying to eek the roof along until we could put a new roof on.  Several of the services, Bryan didn't even charge us for since it was some caulk. but it was a life saver. <br /> Finally, after just having enough, we called Bryan to put the new roof on.  He had the work due to all the good service his team had performed for us.  However, a door knocker came by trying to sell services.  I agreed to let them in and talk to us, just so we could have a comparison.  Now, I am glad I did and mad I did.  The good part was they went over their products they would install and how great they were.  The bad part was that they were over 4X more than the estimate I got from SRS and wasted a huge amount of our time with their sales pitch.  And in the end, Bryan was using the the same products at 23% of the cost of the other company. <br /> Louise from Bryan's team showed up with his crew early Saturday morning and they got to work.  It was amazing.  By lunch they had the old roof of and the roof deck protection down. And this wasn't the old felt paper.  This was a great new product that doesn't rip.  The finished as the sun was going down.   <br /> Bryan came the next day to inspect the work and do a final clean up. <br /> I have had multiple neighbors talk about how good it looks and amazed at how quickly they worked. <br /> We could not be more pleased. <br />"

"I found True Quality Roofing on Angies list and read their reviews. I reached out and spoke with Jay. About 3 months ago, I called about a possible repair and Jay came out the next day. He inspected the roof and we discussed what needed to be done. I asked when they would be able to schedule it and he told me he would do it while he was there. If that’s not service I don’t know what is! Jay was super professional and courteous... not to mention timely. Thank you so much for what you do. I was concerned about the repair and it was fixed within a day!"

"First the good stuff. This is a company that does not skimp on workmanship or materials and I believe that their 75 years of roofing experience shows it. The roof I replaced was with a GAF Timberline American Harvest series shingle that Finley’s Roofing automatically includes with a system plus warranty. Trust me this is a great warranty as it covers material defects for 50 years. If you want specific details, here’s the link, [*** Link removed ***] Along with that they offer a 10 year workmanship warranty. I’m not sure how many other companies can boast this kind of warranty but other proposals only came with a 5 year workmanship warranty. Mr. Finley and his crew (Leandro) were very pleasant to work with before and during the job process. On day one, tarps were laid around the perimeter of the house to catch falling debris as they stripped the old roof from the front of the house. As the roof was striped two workers would pick up the debris and place it into the dumpster. By the end of day one the front of the house was stripped of the old roof and worn or bad OSB plywood was replaced by better non USB plywood. Again, this is a company that sees if your roof could fail in any way, shape or form they are going to make sure that you have the best possible repairs. At the end of day one the felt had been laid on the front of the roof and ice/water shield had been applied to the valleys and other critical roof areas. A good portion of the shingles had been installed on the front of the house at the end of day. Day two, the back of the roof was stripped, OSB plywood had been replaced, and the ridgeline had been cut back on both sides around 15 or so inches to get new plywood installed. I’m guessing this was to make sure that the new ridge vent had new wood to be nailed to. I confirmed with Leandro my concerns that the dormers were step flashed as stated in the proposal because these were areas of leaks from the old roof. I felt very confident with his response. By the end of day two the roof was completed. Now, for some things that could have been handled a little better. Sometime late in the afternoon of day two close to 5:00pm the team was finishing small portions of the front of the roof and about half of the shingles on the back of the house had been installed. Noticing the progress of the job, I went to Leandro asking him if he was going to be back the next day as I kind of assumed he might be. He said he was going to try and be finished by the end of the day but my sense was that he wasn’t sure. About 6:15pm I get a call from Mr. Finley asking how things were going and I said I thought they were going very well. Among one of the things we talked about, Mr. Finley said that when the job was completed I was going to do a final walk around with Leandro to make sure things were done to my satisfaction. Well, that never happened. I talked to Leandro about a couple things I would like to see done as he was working on the job but in no way thought this was to finalize any kind of phase that the work had been completed. It was very late in the evening, very little light was left when I went out to Leandro to get some specifics about the job because I wanted to write them a good review. I couldn’t tell whether the whole roof was done and Leandro didn’t mention the same, so I didn’t make anything of it until the next morning. I figured if Leandro was done or close to being done he would have said something the evening before. The next morning not knowing if anyone was coming back I did a walk around. I found a full sheet of OSB plywood and a two by four laying in my driveway where the dumpster use to be. I never heard or did I not know when the dumpster came. No big deal, I walked around the rest of my house and low and behold the roof was finished. The overall cleanup was done very well. I did notice that some of the things that were moved so tarps could be laid did not get put back into their original spots. None of these things were a big deal to me, but I do believe that if a proper walk around with Leandro had been done they would have been resolved. Two days later while blowing leaves from my front lawn I noticed some damage to it. It had been where some heavy equipment had been used by the roofing company. It looked like maybe a fork lift that was used to remove roofing supplies from the truck had damaged the lawn. I wasn’t very happy about what I saw with the lawn but it does look like someone caught on to what was happening because they used that forklift a number of times to get supplies from the truck on the street that was next to my lawn to the front of my house and the damage would have been much worse. Now this is where things could have gone a whole lot better. A week and a half after the job had been completed, Mr. Finley comes out to my house to drop off the roofing warranties and settle up on the final invoice. From my previous conversations with talking to him on the phone he was always very pleasant, showed extreme pride in his business and was very knowledgeable about the roofing business. I felt he would appreciate complete feedback, be it good or bad so that he was getting the whole picture. In many businesses this is welcome in order to satisfy the customers and make improvements when they can be made. Well, I was wrong about giving Mr. Finley this kind of feedback. He came over to the house and the first thing we talked about was the roof. I told him I thought his crew did a great job and the roof looked good. I mentioned it looked a little different then what I thought it would because Mr. Finley gave me the address of a house that had the same roof. I showed him a picture of that house and to be honest he wasn’t completely sure it was the same roof that I had. Not a big deal to me I just wanted to see if he saw the difference too. Then I said I’d like to share a couple observations with him. The first thing I mentioned was the sheet of plywood and two by four that was left in the driveway. He started telling me what they were used for of which I mostly already knew. I just wanted to let Mr. Finley know because in my mind I’m not sure who was supposed to pick these items up, was it the guy who picked up the dumpster, was it the walk around that was going to be done after the job was finished, what, I wasn’t sure, I just wanted to let Mr. Finley know. He seemed surprised that I brought it up and not much more was said. Then we walked to the front so I could show him what had happened to the front grass. We looked it over and after a few minutes he thought it looked like damage from a fork lift. After a few more minutes of talking he said he wanted to know what I wanted him to do. He said he could have someone come out next spring and have the damaged areas laid with new sod. That sounded fine to me but I wasn’t sure if that was necessary yet. We started walking back to the house and for some reason this is where things with him started to go sideways. I could tell Mr. Finley was getting very perturbed with me. He starts telling me that, that area of the lawn is within the 10 foot easement from the street. I’m I suppose to think that’s ok in messing up my front lawn. I wasn’t sure what he was getting at here. He starts trying to compare my job, nothing that he knows anything about to being perfect to what had happened here. I spent my first twelve years in the Air Force so yes things had to be perfect or airplanes in my job would crash. Then I start getting this story from him that this was major construction, almost like I should feel glad that nothing worse had happened. Here’s a thought, don’t tell your customers that before and during the job that you leave the worksite the same or better than when you started it and then after that job is finished, make them feel like idiots that they should feel thankful that nothing worse happened because they, (meaning me) are in his own words being “petty”. Yes, I heard this a couple of times, I was being petty. The definition of petty is someone who gets caught up in small details. Mr. Finley has no problems with being petty about how"

"The new roof installation went great from start to finish. Everyone in the company was so helpful through the whole process. The site supervisor was by each day to go over the progress and any issues that found during removal of old shingles and during installation of new materials. The field crew was very professional and made sure that all debris was cleaned each day before they left. Dr. Roof definitely isn't the cheapest option for a new roof, but if you want it done right and not have to worry about it in the future they should be the only company in the Atlanta area to use."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Lithonia, GA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
