"Never hire Square One. Initially our only problem was that they got into an argument with the inspector regarding electrical code related to grounding the entire system. Once that was resolved and inspector had signed off, we figured that the minor remaining issues could be fixed by my husband (an electrical engineer). Minor being a couple incorrectly wired light switches. However we found a major issue today in the process of moving a kitchen cabinet. Rather than properly rewire the kitchen outlets, we discovered that they had simply run the wire through the back of the cabinets. That means that none of it was done to code because all wire is required to go through studs. Code is there to prevent accidental cutting of wires which is exactly what happened while we were removing the cabinet. We strongly recommend that no one ever hire Square One."

"I had a very good experience with this company, from the quote derivation process all the way to mold remediation project completion (which included reconstruction of the impacted area - in this case the utility closet and flooring/subflooring adjacent to that room). The team was hardworking, effective, and committed to the terms of the contract to get the job done!"

"I had a great experience with Lifetime Windows and Doors. I worked with Matt to purchase and install a new front door. I love my door and the accent glass, price was as expected, installation was smooth, good communication, and everyone is so nice. I would work with Lifetime again for future needs."

"Our house was a two-story, 70's-built box with dented and peeling aluminium siding, single pane aluminum windows, original doors, original paint, and a deck that had been added by a previous owner that was not tied into structure. We were worred about water infiltration as well as rising electrical costs, so we decided to refinance and pull cash to consolidate debt and get the exterior of the house in shape. We had three companies bid on the project to: * Replace Siding with Hardie product * Replace all windows * Replace an upper floor sliding doors * Replace two patio sliding doors with french doors * Replace the front door * Replace the garage man door * Paint exterior siding and trim * Replace the deck Chad Peterson's bid, as owner of Superior Exterior Systems, was accepted based on first impressions, professional knowledge, statements by references, the detailed estimate, and cost. While we dreaded what the demolition might reveal, everything went smoothly and the issues that were uncovered were quickly and professional resolved. Mark, who ran the siding/window/door crew, kept us informed, answered our many questions, and did an outstanding job on the installation. There were delays due to supplier issues related to Covid-19 that were driving everyone crazy, but Chad worked with them to get our project completed as quickly as possible. The paint crew was quick and thorough. The result is great. The 12'x12' deck Chad and Tyson built for us will likely double as a shelter during a nuclear attack. Given the amount of work that was done, the price was reasonable. Michelle, Chad's wife and business partner, kept us informed all along the way. Chad and his crews were very professional and responsive to our needs. We highly recommend Superior Exterior Systems."

"Jason Doran is currently operating on a suspended CCB license #147440. He appears to now be running his business under the name of Chimney-Pro (most likely due to the license suspension). There is a reason why he has received numerous 1 star reviews and it is because he is completely incompetent and a p*** poor "con artist." He is not licensed to work in the state of WA but did so toward the end of 2024. We filed a complaint with the WA Dept of Labor and Industries. He is being fined in the amount of $1,200 for this violation. We paid him $2,000 to perform work. He royally f'd up the job. We offered to settle for a refund for $1,000, he declined. We just won a small claim judgment against him in the current amount of $2,496.38. If he continues to avoid this situation, the fees will only increase. Do not hire Master Sweep or Chimney-Pro."

"This was an awful experience. I was guaranteed that nails would NOT go through the plywood. They all did. The job was not completed and I was continually put off when scheduling the following up. I had to finish the work myself. I found a year latter that they didn’t replace the siding correctly. As a result it cost me over $1,000 to fix the damage. Stay away from this company. The low price is not always the total cost."

"My crawl space was flooded due to a hot water leak, major moisture damage and unfortunately I did not know about Willamette restoration and used another company to dry out crawl space but walls in laundry room and entry had to be tore down and that's when Willamette Restoration came into picture and saved the day. They completed the finish work walls, flooring, countertop, painting, replacing cabinets and I cannot say enough about their professionalism, timely manner in getting the job done. They went above and beyond my expectations and their cost was far less than a quote by another company. If you want excellent workmanship Willamette Restoration should be your company of choice."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Longview, WA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
